To those who have bought LG Nexus 4 recently....

Yes, to those of you who have bought LG Nexus 4 recently…. Can you please share your experience? How was the migration process from your old phone to new, any warranty issues, any concerns, good and bad, anything at all… I think I am going to place an order soon, an upgrade from my HTC Wildfire. I am a low user, no games, only emails SMS calls and some browsing. Thanx heaps.

I upgraded from a Huawei X3 and the Nexus 4 is awesome. No lagging in games, videos, browsing and general use. Its fast and snappy. Extremely easy to switch from one app to another without exiting. I havent had any problems with the phone, so dunno about warranty. Since the back is glass, I suggest you buy a good phone case.
I dont think you'll be disappointed, especially upgrading from a old tech phone.

    • Hi JLove, that's good to know. Did you transfer your data ok? Contacts, WhatsApp etc. Each time I got a new phone I ended up in strife. Just want to do as many planning as possible.

Contacts should auto transfer, I just used rom toolbox to backup and restore my whatsapp/viber messages which worked fine, and sms backup to backup and restore sms's.

If you're planning on rooting the phone do it as soon as you get it, as the phone will be wiped to factory defaults as part of the process.

  • I upgraded from the S2 and I'm rather disappointed, primarily about the battery life. From what I've read on forums, less than a day's usage is very common even when you've only browsed the net lightly.

I'd go into more detail but everything's already been said: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2058246

    • I get ~2hrs screen on. It isnt great but it lasts me most days… what do you get?

      • Around the same.
Maybe it's because I'm on automatic brightness so the battery drains faster. Even so, my s2 has better battery life even while doing the same things.

    • Thanx Leon. That is my fear. My Wildfire will last a day unless I start using Navigation…..
Gee, that Whirpool is really really long… I cant get thru 3 pages. I guess if I start at day 1 might help. Ah well, will try to read as much and as quickly as I could.

    • edit: nevermind >.>

While I'm here I will say that my sister has a nexus 4 and says it works fine. She seems to use it a lot.

      Could be a device-specific thing?

  • I think the battery life is pretty good, equal to the S3.

  • nexus4 are rad

  • I found my Nexus 4 to be an amazing upgrade from my iPhone 5. It's very much on par in terms of snappyness and simplicity. There is no bloatware, the camera is pretty good, screen is nice.

Only downside is the battery, it's not stellar. I usually unhook at around 7am, through the day i'll listen to 4 hours of music, maybe 1-2 hours of screen on time. Again, lots of music, thats all I do in my business and graphics classes. XD

I would say, if your after battery life, the Note 2 is the one to get. Only got to use it for a few days, but I didn't have to charge it once. XD

Good luck picking your next phone mate.

    • Thanx.

Lol it's a lot better, but not by that much, 50% better at the most.

    Hi,
There is a current problem with a delay pushed notification of messages when the phone is in sleep mode. I am using Whatsapp. It is not a problem with the app as it works find with 3 other phones. It can be 5 minutes or not at all until you turn the screen on. This has been reported since Jan 2013 and still no fix from Google.

It is very frustrating. This is a basic function of a smart phone.

see google help forum link - https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!search/Delayed$20Push$20Notifications$20When$20Screen$20Is$20Off$20on$20Nexus$204/mobile/SQH6JnIFYcQ/fjmmHSCpdIkJ

    cheers and good luck.

  • Sorry wrong post.

  • Just reading this post:

The OP spoke about LG Optimus: " it is essentially an upgraded version of the Nexus 4. ….. the Optimus G is a much better device than the Nexus 4".

I will need to do more research now.

They're very similar, both are made by LG. The main thing the Optimus G has over the Nexus 4 is radio, 32GB vs 8/16GB and 4G, Nexus 4 has latest version of android, will get updates first and for longer. Nexus 4 also has a more solid premium feel to it, although it is more fragile.
