  • What sort of autonomy are we looking at? What batteries does it came with?

    • The 1500VA model comes with 2 x 12V 9Ah Internal Batteries

  • +1

    Uninterraptable, is it?

    • YoYoYo, dont be interapting ma digs, you feel me yo?

  • Hey Guys,

You can find all the relevant infor by visiting our page, for instance, if you look under 'Technical Specs' you'll see that the autonomy time is as follows:

Half Load Runtime (in mins) 8
Full Load Runtime (in mins) 3

Bare in mind that you're very unlikely to use it at full load and on a standard PC + Monitor will get out around 1.5 hrs of backup time

    • Damn only 1.5hrs? Its not enough to finish my WoW Raid in case a Blackout occurs.

    • What do you mean a standard PC? I have a Eaton 3S 700 UPS and I only get about 5 minutes of battery time for my PC and monitor (my UPS software says my PC uses around 55% of the output load level when idle). How long do you think it will last with this UPS?

      • +1

It will definitily last longer with this UPS (5110 1500VA contains 2 x 9Ah batteries, whereas 3S contains 1 x 5Ah battery). It sounds like you have pretty powefull PC, it's hard to say exactly how much backup time you'll get without knowing the exact load. But from what you told me you'll be looking at around 20-30 mins

    • This unit will only get 74 minutes from 170va. For your claimed 90 minutes runtime that'd be down to 100va or less. Do you think a "standard" PC & Monitor(22" or larger) draws less than that? And you're telling other people not to comment on things they don't know about?

      • Rep you going to respond or do you admit you were lying about the 1.5 hour runtime on an average PC?

  • Just as an FYI, I've not been able to get my UPS (5110 700VA) to work with the windows 7 UPS software. My memory is a little bit hazy but I don't think there is any driver for windows 7 for this UPS.

Given that the advantage of a UPS is that it will gracefully shut down your computer before the battery cuts out, it's only really useful (unless you are on XP) for intermittent power outages where the battery can stay on for long enough to prevent the computer from losing power.

      Thank you for the feedback:
Here's a link to the FREE Eaton Software that you can use to manage your 5110 UPS:

      • Thanks for letting me know, I only spent a little bit of time trying to get it to work on my machine a few months ago so I'll try this software out tonight and hopefully have it work.

I'll update my comment accordingly with results.

    • My eaton UPS which is a few years old now works fine with their lan-safe software in Windows 7. Even uses the PC to email me about a power-outage before shutting it down.

      • Thanks for letting me know, I'll have a go again tonight (at work at the moment) and update my comment accordingly.

  • Its cheaper then other stores… but not that much cheaper. I can pick it up locally for $273.

    • Our price includes postage which is at least $15.00 for metro areas. And we offer to ship this anywhere in Australia.
On top of that you're very unlikely to find any local stores keeping them in stock (due to the nature of the product).

      • Umart has stock, more then five.

Also postage not needed if you can pickup.

I know you are offering the best deal, I was just pointing out that its not that great, if I wanted one I would just drive and pick one up so I can have it today rather then next week.

        • Firstly, the stock is less than 5.
Secondly, for some reason they only offer 12 mths-RTM2 Warranty. We offer 2 years
Thirdly, I could not find an option to have the unit picked up

Please let me know if I'm missing something

        • -7

          You are missing a lot.

Why does stock levels matter when there is clearly enough for everyone?

By the time I get the UPS from you, Umart could have 20 more in stock if you put through an order for that.

We only need 1 UPS each, Umart has more and yet thats not good enough.

Their 12 months note on their products is standards reguardless of manufacturers warranty.

Manufacturers warranty still works with Umart.

If you can't figure out how to have it picked up, then learn to Internet.

Once again like your previous deal you don't understand how to be professional and instead make a poor reputation for your company.

Keep going and You'll find a negative vote on the deal.

        • under the new 2011 Australian Consumer Law, IMO a device like this would be covered for 2 years, even if umart says 12mnth RTM.

  • -4

These aren't really worth it. I've owned a PC for 20 years and never had the need for one of these.

    • +3

Agreed…for some people it may not be worth it, for others it's quite ESSENTIAL. Depends on the type of equipment that you have and the nature of your work.
For example if you have a $3000.00 Home Entertainment System and a large surge comes through, it's a lot better to sacrifice your UPS than the system…

      • The piece of mind from a UPS alone is worth it. And while you may think you've used your computer for 20 years without incident, how do you know that the reason that the odd HDD/PSU failure isn't associated with power problems?

While subjective (and probably some variant of the placebo effect), equipment protected by a UPS seems to have far less issues than machines not on a UPS.

    • +4

First time I've been tempted to use the "cool story bro" response. Must. Resist.

It's a personal choice as to whether you need one. You may not. Others might.

    • +1

I've never needed insurance for my car or 3rd party compulsory insurance, but if I ever get into an accident, I can tell you that, I and many others can't afford not to have it.

Can you afford your equipment to fail, data corruption, or data loss from an electrical event? Only you can answer if you can afford to or not. Everyone is different. I personally can't and I'm sure others can't either.

      • -2

Well that's good for you, In the nearly 14 years I've been driving I've used my insurance probably 6 or 7 times already. As for my PC, it's hooked up to a surge protector powerboard.

  • GOCOMP (auscomp), a physical store 1min drive from me, sells it for $270
yeah it has to order it in..
but at least I can take it back there no hassles, for free, if there is an issue.
    better than posting it.

(auspost will query you if you try and send a mobile with a battery, nevermind a ups)

    Umart has it $273

For 95% of the population who live near these bricks n mortar stores I don't think this is a bargain.

    dejavu.. reps previous post:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95601

    • AusPost will NOT query a UPS. Mobile phones and UPSs use different kind of batteries, so UPS can easily be sent even via Airfreight.
On top of that Eaton provides MSDS for picky customers.
Please don't speculate about things you're not sure about

      • Well, tonight I ordered a UPS for a business I do IT for.

Normally I would go with a helpful rep with a decent offer on ozb.. even if it wasn't the best offer.

Because of your attitude shown throughout this post, and your previous 'bargain', I have decided to go with a competitor.

  • i want to get one but not so expensive, for my NAS so it can shutdowns properly when there is sudden blackout. (not so the nas can run for another hour or so, maybe 10mins is enough)

what is the cheapest i can spend?

    • You'd be lookig around $100.00 for a good quality (such as Eaton or APC) unit

      • thanks. now just have to make sure the ups can send signal to my synology to shutdown when the ups detects no electricity.

        • Eaton 3S that you can purchase through our store should do the job. We'll refund you completely if you find that it doesn't work with your hardware and software.

        • +1

These were the two links I used when picking out my UPS for my Synology NAS. Ended up going with an "APC Back-Ups ES 700VA 230V BE700G-AZ" from CPL for $155 which works perfectly.

          Official list
          User submitted list

EDIT: You can also configure the synology software to either shutdown as soon as the power cuts out or when the UPS battery is low

        • +1

For my synology - I use the CyberPower bought from this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82238. And yes, it can send signal to shutdown.

        • and still the same price! cool but wondering if eaton 3s is better (small design). also with cyberpower you need to buy some cable conversion, right?

        • Eaton 3S comes with a 3 year warranty… Eco feature… AUS outlets… Circuit Braker…USB Cable… Free Software… Latest design (came out in 2012) Can't go wrong

  • Could you a deal for ENV2000HA and 3S700AU?

    • If you've come this far, we can offer free shipping on all the other UPSs available from the website. Including 3S700AU and ENV2000HA. Just choose 'free shipping' option on checkout

  • On the side note, we're the only store in Australia that sells genuine replacement batteries for Eaton 5110 UPS (yes, they aren't very cheap - but they do plug straight in):
    http://upsplace.com.au/Racks-Power-Distribution-Units/ups-re…

  • This size unit is complete overkill for most people, plus the price is only a few dollars cheaper than plenty of places.

    • -2

Do those places offer free shipping being only few dollars more expensive?
People how value their time will find this deal very attractive…

      • You have to wait many days for delivery.

You miss delivery because you are at work.

You have to go to courier/australia post depot.

Thats wasted time, delivery is not worth as much as you think.

      • -1

Do those places offer free shipping being only few dollars more expensive?

Who cares? Most people can pick up.

People how value their time will find this deal very attractive…

As Sam said, when the courier doesn't deliver the UPS because customer is at work(or courier is running late), they dump it at the post office and then the customer can then line up for 2 hours in a post office queue to pick it up? And that's even if they can get to the post office after work. If they're so busy they might have to wait weeks to get time to get to the post office when it's open. Yeah, very attractive offer there.

Plus having to deal with a company with an attitude like yours, no thanks, I'd rather deal with MSY.

        • Yup like me.

Post office closes at 5pm, can't get home before that, have to get up especially early on Saturday morning to pickup.

And then there are the couriers that take 30mins+ to drive to their depot.

        • -2

Gents, you really need to chill… This is not an argument whether pickup is better than delivery. You can take this argument to KOGAN, I'm sure he will have a lot to say to you!!!

Bottom line is, this is the best deal for the unit out there at the moment. FULL STOP

        • +1

Its just a simple discussion, you don't need to have such a poor attitude.

        • +1

This is probably the worst rep I have ever seen on Ozbargain, good luck to anyone that deals with this operation, if you throw your money at these guys after this display of maturity then good luck to you.

  • Can you still do one at the $269? Thought the offer went longer.

    • gocomp.com.au (physical store) has it for $270 (they will have to order it in).
Umart has it in stock for $273.

  • Offer is still open.
