Lol, at linking to exactly the same site where the $15 dvd burner is listed. The link to that deal brings up this one, so I'm sure this is a really hard deal to find ;)

That said its a decent bargain especially with the OW price match…

  • +1

OW price match is done by competitor price + shipping x 5% off. so your calculation could only apply to Sydney sider.

For $159 + $$ shipping, yes you could save a little off OW's listing price of $176. Good luck!

Anybody had any luck getting Office Works to price match on this deal?

    • +1

I had printed out 9289.com.au's website with the $159 price and that it was in Chatswood and that pickup was available. OW North Ryde (near Chatswood) rejected my pricematch request on the basis that the product ids were different. They did go to Shopbot.com.au and were willing to beat the best price on that (5% off $176.89 here http://www.megabuy.com.au/wd-elements-desktop-35-p87216.html). Essentially it was because 9289 was selling the white model and OW had the black model. Are there any other differences?

I grabbed 3 of the these drives on Sat arvo from 9289 and I got 2 white and 1 black… I think 9289 must have just used the product code and picture of the white one for their website and promo.

I might go today - but should i spend 30 dollars and get an astone enclosure which has esata?

OW price matching is bad!! They will drive your local computer stores out of business and then what? You'll be paying OW prices!

  • +1

Yes reward the retailer who is offering the special price unless theres no way to get it from them.

  • +1

but its good if they are 5 minutes walk from your place - who is going to go all the way to chatswood for a 1TB drive - and also remember only a very small group know about price matching or even staticice

agree with 220ST, Who would drive all the way and trying to save 5% or a few bucks if their local shop is not ripping them off.

OW serves a wake up call for those big boys out there, TGG, JB, DSE, HN, etc. where most of them list rrp, and when negotiating with them, they always play games and you end up getting abused and walking out without what you want.

    has anyone priced matched yet?

    • +1

Tried — and was rejected. See above for full explanation.

      • +1

        how was it different?

        • +1

9289 had white only and OW had black only?

    These HDDs are extremly good.

I purchased one from Office works a couple of months back for $170. Now I have over 300gig of movies on it and watch them on my plamsa buy hooking the HDD up to my Xbox via USB.

It is also very easy to take around with you to friends places if they have some files you want.
