  • Thats a expensive pen!

You clearly have not seen the prices pens go up to! Waddling into a Montblanc store will literally be an eye opening experience if you're used to using 50c bic pens! :P

      It's called a writing instrument

How do you get the free shipping? Shows as $6.95 for me.

  • What about the free shipping? I am getting charged $6.95 for it?

    Edit: Damn, beaten.

  • Well I'm not sure about the stock levels, but if you really want it, I'd buy it now, then send through a ticket to their help team and they'll refund you the shipping. IF NOT there's always PayPal, but make sure you take a screenshot of the FREE SHIPPING bit on the page.

  • Wants to charge me $6.95 postage for 1 pen & $12 for 2 :(

  • is this pen any good?

      my pen is good!

        pen is. Haha

          Well played.

        • ;)

    • No better than the refill thats inside it, just like any other ballpoint pen. You could put a Mount Blanc refill in a cheap plastic tube and it will still write as well as a Mount Blanc pen.

Which is why, generally, serious pen buffs tend towards fountain pens.

What refills do Waterman ballpoint's accept? Parker type? Or something proprietary like Mont Blanc?

As much as I want to like Fountain Pens, the problem is on ordinary, thin, low grade paper the ink spreads out and through to the back of the page. Thicker paper + fine points (like japanese pens often have) is the solution. There are some very nice looking (and quite cheap) Chinese made fountain pens available on Ebay, but they tend to have Medium nibs. There is nothing to match the joy of writing with a gold nib pen, and they can be purchased for under $100. Gold prices are have been going backwards lately.

Rollerballs also have a problem with ink spread, but some gel refills (such as Uniball) fit into Rollerballs. Chinese rollerballs are a little different inside from Western rollerballs and require diffferent sized refills.
Rollerball + gel refill is my preferred solution for elegant writing on inferior paper.

    is this compatible with iOS?
How does this compare with Swype?

    • +1

      Funny :)

      • not to some people :(
must be iOS users who cannot get to use swype

        • +3

Humour is incompatible with iOS. Sorry.

    • Better than IOS but cannot beat Swype :)

    Could this be fake?

    • Good question, but no way of knowing unless you buy one and check it out.
It might be Chinese stock. ie pens meant for the Chinese market.

    • are COTD known for selling fakes??

  • If this is genuine then it is a really good deal. I was given one of these pens over ten years ago and is the best pen I have ever used and it is still going strong.

  • Has 3 year warranty, but sign up via Waterman's website for xtra 2 years = 5 year total… I am sure that they used to offer life time warranty, just like Parker used to do as well :(

  • Free shipping finally works. Bought 2 and will let you guy know whether it is genuine.

Same here. Hope they are genuine. Need to sell it on Ebay :)

  • Bought 2, one for me and one for me father's Birthday. Cheers for the post, decided to wait till today to order and get the free shipping (screw paying $12).

  • My shipping was refunded within 24 hours :)

  • Bought one

  • No joy…..SOLD OUT

Pens arrived. It looks genuine but no guarantee. No indication where it was made in. The refill is from Waterman German. There is a slight quality differences in the two pens. There is a slight play when put together that is when you shakes the pen you can hear some noise. It is definitely not worth more than $50 retail in my opinion. It writes smoothly because of the good refill.

  • I received mine today and believe them to be fake. I have owned real Watermans and quality and look of these don't look legit.

  • I received mine today too, the box looks a little dodgy, but the pen seems ok. How do you know that its fake?
The pen seemed to have been on sale previously, and these could be run out items.

Thinking of sending one in to be checked out -

    • Please do

  • That would be great! Let me know how it checks out?

  • I think the pen is a fake, the built quality doesn't quite seem right and my pen is covered in scratches with the paint removed in a few sections whereas all my other pens with a coating are in much better condition and some are 7-8 years old! The pen is starting to look really cheap now.

  • Can we return these pens to cotd?
