ABS Roadside Assist for 1 Year - $29 (by Allianz Global Assist)

44

Not much of a groupbuy fan for automotive deals, but this scoopon caught my eye.
ABS is offering a 1 year nationwide roadside assist for 29$. The scoop on includes a 'free' safety check for your vehicle which is where they will probably take money by offering a lot of repairs.
The roadside assistance is offered by AGA - Allianz Global Assistance.
The scoopon may be valid only for Adelaide customers as the ABS locations are in Adelaide
Link to ABS Roadside Assistance webpage: http://www.absauto.com.au/index.php?id=105 and brochure: http://www.absauto.com.au/media/docs/2852_ABS_Roadside_Assis…

The terms for the roadside assistance are here: http://www.absauto.com.au/media/docs/ABS_RSA_Term_and_Condit…

Quite similar to the Ultratune Roadside Assistance package.

Add: I prefer RAA for their excellent network, etc - but am thinking of this for my wife who drives just short distances in an old car.

  • Anything to get away from the NRMA :)

and they have a FREE CALL 1800 number, very handy for when you lock your mobile phone in your car with your keys! Call 1800 901 108

very handy for when you lock your mobile phone in your car

how do you make a call if your phone is in your car?

all the payphones where I live are long gone…

      • +1

Perhaps you simply shout out the number and someone comes? Can someone please confirm this.

      • +3

Find a junkie, they'll know where the pay phones are

      • Also, I don't think 1800 numbers are free on mobile, so what difference does it make?

  • please clarify in the title that its Adelaide only.

But is it? When I read the fine print and all other information, I cannot find anything to suggest that a NSW resident or other can't use the roadside assistance even though they live outside of S. A.

You obviously can't use the major safety check but that's no loss and OP isn't advertising that.

      Edit: I somehow missed this…. Only for S. A.

=Should you decide to take up this offer, you will receive, on the Terms and Conditions set out below, 12 months of Roadside Assistance from the date of your Vehicle service. This offer is open to participating dealerships only. Membership must be activated within 7 days of the date of your Vehicle service. =

  • So for Adelaide only or not?

I bought this offer when it was made by scoopon for Vic last week, i booked my car in for the $29 service and when i claimed it i got the following bill and information:

    $29 Voucher cost
    $25 4WD Surcharge
    $60 Fluids
    $110 Labour Not Covered
$45 Quote fee for work not completed (they claimed i needed more work done but i did not!!! and i knew it)

Also the roadside assitance conditions were as follows:
In The event of a incident requiring roadside assitance we will get you back on the road (parts required are at your expense) or tow your car to the place that issued this service to you
so basically, if you break down they tow you back to the ABS you went to in the first place, you cant tell them to tow you home, if you want to go home they wont tow you or you have to pay

I suspected there was going to be more charges and conditions but this was a joke
For the record i refused to pay the $110 or the $45 charges, as they were clearly trying to rort me.. they must of thought they "saw me coming"

Overall.. this is NOT a good deal!

let me neg the deal for you then :)

Sorry i didnt know how to do it.. but thank you

  • Available in other locations as well (e.g., Melbourne —> http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/40103/12-locations-1-year-ro… "Choose From 12 Locations Across Melbourne")

Allianz roadside assistance is useless, especially for people in country areas. Last time they tried to change me $220 additional call out fee!! You don't need that sort of stress when you break down and need help.

if there insurance is anything like there work cover insurance, i'll give them a wide berth, never wanting to pay out always have excuses - not a big fan of Allianz after the way they treated the inlaws.

same issues for me. "market value" was ridiculously low on my write-off (much lower than they'd assured me it would be when I signed up. but of course that was just some spoken words, nothing written down….), took ages to pay out, didn't pay out full amount, took another few months to get the extra bit. was a nightmare.

  • I did buy it through Scoopon. How do I sign up now? I am only after the roadside assistance.

Got this roadside assist free with my allianz car insurance renewal. Read the fine print… it is not compararable with nrma /racv type service. One thing.. max distance from depot non metro is 50k.

    • RACV is only willing to tow your car no more than 20km.

      • for non metro?

        • For metro. Don't know about non-metro.

  • I am a NRMA classic roadside assistant member. Last time my battery was flat when I shopping @bondi junction westfield. The operator told me, it could take up to 3 hours before someone comes… However, fortunately, it only took 15 minutes.

I wonder, how many AGA - Allianz Global Assistance vehicles are there on the road?
