Tesla is offering $3000 off their Model Y when buying through Novated lease. Hope some people can take advantage of that. I think its applicable for their existing inventory as well.

Why?
because humans.
Tesla comes with free popcorn.
Because seeing one is like watching a car crash. And driving one is like being in car crash.

@Illyria: I can just picture musk slaving away on the assembly line in china, so upset by the hate. like water off a chicken's back - quack quack!
Over 24 hrs and no neg? I'm disappointed kinda …
Been out for barely 3 months and already discounted.
Pricing has always fluctuated with Tesla, this is nothing new.
3 downvotes for stating a fact wut?
Oabargainers dont like facts
"Pricing has always fluctuated with Tesla, this is nothing new."
True. On a 3 months old product. Yea. Neh.
Demand is not meeting supply at asking.
….thats why they're reducing the prices…
I would treat it as a phone or a laptop rather than a car in the traditional sense.
It’s all computer.
battery
Thank you for your attention.
The quote is actually "everything is computer "
Makes a difference somehow
It's essentially a big battery on wheels. That is why byd is doing so well
Byd had the slavery issues though
This has always been how car pricing works - it's just that Tesla is transparent with it.
One of my uncles was a new car salesman for Toyota, it worked exactly the same way. They would have targets they would need to hit and the price they would "negotiate" with buyers would fluctuate to meet that target. When a refresh was around the corner, there would be runout prices, similar to what Tesla did with the old Model 3 / Model Y when the refreshes came out.
FWIW, I actually prefer Tesla's pricing model where the price is just what it is, and buyers can make the call on whether they want to buy or not (as opposed to having to do the silly dance negotiating with salesmen). You just have to not care that it might well be $3k cheaper next month, just like you would never have found out that your Toyota was going for $3k less than what you paid just a few weeks later as well.
Good luck negotiating $3k off a Camry, RAV4 or Prado.
pretty easy considering the entire Japanese car manufacturing is on the brink of shutting lol
@Beezum: You sound like you might be chronically online. The only people saying that are Electric Viking and other online EV zealots.
@askbargain: Someone that recognises reality. Japan sells more cars in Australia than any other country. How do you go from number 1 to broke?

Can you back this up? Think US has bigger market
How do you go from number 1 to broke?
Remember Nokia?
@foxes28: they mean in Australia, more.cars are imported from Japan, then any other country. Is the US even in the top 10?
@foxes28: US? I’d imagine that the amount of US built cars in Australia is very low.
Oh but if you are talking total amount of cars produced and sold everywhere, not just to Australia the. Yeah I’d say US is the biggest.
Nokia was disrupted by a super innovative product. I don’t think there is such a car that does that?
really? You must be a crap negotiator. I got the missus an Outlander earlier in the year. Got the midrange model for $7k off and the slightly cheap then the advertised base model elsewhere (which I could have also gotten $4k off. it's not covid any more.
@Windows98: So are Tesla, maybe it's just a Toyota driver thing? Got offered $4k off a Mazda too with much effort. Similar off a Subaru. Again they must be a crap negotiator if they can't get $3k off a $95-100k Prado.
@M00Cow: $7k off is good but it’s a different kettle of fish to getting a discount on a Toyota.
I was looking at a Nissan just yesterday and could get $10,500 off one of their cars.
@Brick Tamland: but we're talking about Tesla's and you've chucked in a few popular Toyota models as an example. It's not like Tesla's are in demand.
No one wants a Prado bro. They only buy it as a fleet car or too snobbish to get a second hand landcruiser because they can't afford it new.
Good luck negotiating $3k off a Camry, RAV4 or Prado.
I'm not suggesting that you can negotiate any certain amount off any certain car, just that what cars have actually sold for have always fluctuated depending on market conditions. I've had friends / family who have negotiated over $3k off sticker price on several cars over the past 1-2 years, including from Mazda, Subaru, Hyundai, and Kia.
FWIW, I've always found it a bit odd (as someone who's broadly neutral on Tesla - don't love or hate them) that people view sales / discounts on Tesla as a bad thing - imagine having a whinge because there's a discount on a PS5 or something.
@p1 ama: Makes sense to discount it if the car is an old model being replaced by a new model or there is a EOFY sale or old plate clearance. It’s very strange to discount a brand new product.

For big discounts, yes, for small discounts (and remember that a $3k novated lease incentive is less than a 5% discount here), it has always been determined by sales fluctuations and targets.
Most likely the $3k is somehow being shared between Tesla and the lease provider, similar to how car dealerships would give you similar discounts if you do use their in-house financing.
Not sure what your point is - still find it funny that you're getting worked up over a discount, maybe time to take a hike to OzRRP.com.
Not really discounted in cash terms. They make the money back via lender agreements
Tesla controls the end to end manufacturing so can raise and lower thr prices, similar to Samsung dropping huge amounts off new flagship devices within days or weeks, more sales at a lower price gets more devices out for others to buy at full price
Isnt the largest component of a Tesla not a Tesla made part?
"largest component of a Tesla not a Tesla made part?"
Haha. Good one.
BYD is pushing discounts on novated leases. They're just competing with the market.
They got $3000 off lending incentive as well. Not sure what that is though.
The $3,000 Novated Lease Incentive and $3,000 Lending Incentive cannot be combined
Yes, Lending incentive is with Westpac and Plenti EV loans for those not interested in Novated Lease. Westpac seems to have a better rate.
Just came back from Europe.
Asked Carjet for the cheapest car for 23 days. They promised a crappy Peugeot that nobody wants or similar.
Got a 6 month old Rav4 hybrid AWD offer by accepting a higher excess.Knocked up 3500km on it and used their radar cruise with advanced lane centering. I could literally drive 1000km hands free.
This means every 30 sec or every 60 ignoring the message and move the wheel just a few mm.Tesla's 10k option do offer lane change and autopark but it it worth the extra?
The Rav4 needed 30km/h to engage the cruise but then handled traffic jams with ease even in bumper to bumper conditions. Range: 879 km to a tank.
Ours had no HUD but most buyers choose that option instead.-1
I still don't understand the point of the comment.
It’s a thinly veiled humblebrag of ‘I was in Europe’.
My 7 year old car can steer itself and hold the lane and radar cruise. But I turn it off, it disconnects you from driving and ignoring a warning every 30 seconds is more work than just driving.
And the second the line marking goes it wont keep doing it which is often on crappy Australian roads, it is not a toy and I dont trust it with my life nor are you supposed to drive it like that.
Maybe because it's 7 year old technology and software
It works fine, the flaws are the same on the new ones, original comment said he had to touch steering wheel every 30 seconds because its not supposed to be used like that. And without lane markings how could it possibly know where the road is. I've driven new cars too its not any different.
My car has LIDAR as well as cameras, Tesla took it off all the models to save money years ago. If anything it is better lol. Tesla relying purely on cameras to judge distance is worse.

Assume you mean sonar, not lidar - sonar uses ultrasonic sound waves, lidar uses light waves.
@p1 ama: No, it's LiDAR. I think Tesla dumped it but the other manufacturers are going to beat Tesla to successful autonomous driving by sticking with it.
Drive any Tesla and you will find the default autosteer does the same thing as that rav4.
The $10k full self drive option is an unnecessary waste of money as it won’t ever work properly and is unlikely to ever be available here.Picked up a Rave4 in Oz for a family member brand new from dealer around 7 months ago.
It did have issues accepting QLD road markings and autosteer made it drive a snake line as it was hunting.
Reading Australian speed signs was also imperfect.
European version did not hunt and never missed a sign. From 1. March many countries there made it 100% legal to use on freeways. To me it was a great help whilst the roads were not too busy and I did not use it in any tunnels.
European drivers are 99% less stubborn than Oz drivers except for the occasional Belgian who probably never had to sit for a license. Now that most free chargers have vanished, only the good acceleration speaks or buying a Tesla.Rave 4 was an epic party yeah
Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive AWD for NSW $ $69,370 Drive Away Price, it needs to be $50K drive away to consider.
Waiting for the “Nazi” comments.
Hey found the Nazi!
I also like Tesla, very nice car
Yeah and they don't care what some blue haired idiot thinks lll
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Why would a Tesla driver give a damn about a loser who drive a shitbox
“review mirror” 💔
Because he IS the loser in the shitbox
No one cares what you think.
Competition has surpassed this old design.
Yes and no. They are still very energy efficient compared to BYD.
a low priority for people who pay nothing/ peanuts to charge their EV
30% more electricity with BYD = 30% more time sitting around waiting for it to charge AND 30% more coal burnt in our coal and gas powered electricity grid
@Dmz111: charging speed has nothing to do with energy efficiency. a lot of EV owners would have their own solar/batteries to charge.
@V2L: So if you drive from A to B and you use 50kw in a Tesla but 65kw in a BYD, you think it will take the same time to charge? My maths is that the 11kw curbside charger will take roughly 5 hours for a Tesla or 6 hours for a BYD. Most home charging is even slower.
@Dmz111: are you sitting in a car for 5hrs while it charges? why does it matter if it takes 5 vs 6 hrs if you leave it to charge in your driveway overnight? if you are DC fast charging (the only scenario when the charging speed actually matters), the voltage architecture determines the speed - efficiency is irrelevant like I said
