BitDefender Internet Security 2013 - Free for 1 Year

1350

After logging into St George online banking I noticed the following promotion again:

http://www.stgeorge.com.au/online-services/security-centre/p…

To which the direct link has been provided in the Go to Deal link.

I posted on the 2012 version a year ago - good to see they've kept up with it.

EDIT: You do NOT need to be a St George Bank customer to take up this offer. Also, if you get an unavailable message, try again later. The offer seems to be limited to Australian IP addresses only.

  • Same with the Westpac one, already got too many serial numbers lol

    • +2
      • how could I register with westpac?
I could not figure it out.
        thanks

        • Follow the instructions on the site he linked, and you'll get to a page very similar to the one linked in this deal, but for Westpac.

I know I had a lot of trouble trying to get this deal last year, because the stupid Westpac site kept linking to the bitdefender homepage >.> It seems to be fixed now though.

Edit: to be clear, the instructions in zeckem's link are:

Sign in to Online Banking, select Security from the menu, and follow the instructions to download the software from Bitdefender.

Well you don't need to do that if you click on the deal link directly :-)

The Westpac one has expired - hence it redirecting to the BD website. St George now has it - probably next month Bank of Melbourne will have it (all the Westpac Group). It was clear in the fine print that it expires on 13/06 - so it's only valid for a month now; something that wasn't stated last year when I posted 2012's deal.

Hey mate just want to say you are a legend mate thank you for this.

        • Ahh, maybe the old Westpac deal had expired, but it's started up again just like the St George one. I got myself a key yesterday.

  • Just added another 365 days to my subscription. thanks for the direct link OP!

  • Good find! Thanks for the direct link

    • Oh the irony…

"Be careful! This sender failed our fraud detection checks."

  • Is everyones activation code ending in DTV? i think they're all the same

    • Nope. Mine isn't :-)

    • Its one code per IP address..

      • can we use 1 code on multiple machine?

i got 3 machines how to get more?

        • Use your smart phone's internet?
          Not on wireless obviously.

        • Thanks…that works

        • If you're with bigpond and not paying for static just turn off your router and turn it back on again, it works for me!

      • it appears you're right, thanks

      • The European one would give you cookies, so if you deleted the bitdefender cookies you could re-register with another set of details.

        Edit:
Just tried, I searched for bitdef in Firefox cookies and deleted them all. Unfortunately that didn't work :(

        • Tried again, deleting your cookies works :)

      • :( Anyway to obtain another code?

  • Does commonwealth give any internet security for free?

    • +1

It doesn't matter - you don't have to be a customer with Westpac/St George with the direct link I provided anyway :-)

      • I'm just redirected to the bitdefender homepage, am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Nm, hade VPN set to wrong country, seems it doesn't like foreign ips with this one!

    • +2

They offer six months free McAfee, http://www.commbank.com.au/personal/McAfeeOffer.html so this is definitely a better offer.

  • Been doing some research and bitdefender looks to be a stand out - goood deal thanks for posting

  • If I get this code/serial, can I use it after six months to get a year? I currently have a licensed copy of Symantec (free thanks to Ozbargain), which has six months remaining:)

  • So this is for St. George Customers only?

    • No.

      • I cannot seem how to work out how to do both without Westpac and St George Bank Accounts.
        Any instructions?

Both methods ask me to sign into an banking account.

EDIT: Found it, In the Go TO Deal link?
I think I can also guess the Westpac one but not sure. :)

  • I just got it by checking my online banking messages in Bank of Melbourne.

    Thanks! :)

  • Is this significantly better than the free Microsoft Security Essentials ? I ask because it wants to remove the MSE before installation.

  • Thanks, works with Bitdefender Windows 8 Security too.

  • +1

Have they fixed their program up with this new version. Last time i used bitdefeneder which was a few years ago it was very clunky and made my compter start up slower.

    • Yeah should be better, why don't you download the trial and give it a shot?

  • Just a reminder for those with Android phones (not sure about iPhones) to grab the one with the mobile security key with it also. Even if you just use it for the anti-theft service, its worth the install.

I only have ANZ internet banking, so sad, can't get this offer, is there anyone can help me getting the link or spare the license?

    • +2

Did you even bother click on the link?

    • +1

If you're not even gonna bother to read, I don't see why anyone should bother to help you….

  • Is it valid for business use?

  • +2

Please try again later. The system could not process your request. :/

    • Same here, Think they ran out :(

      • OZBARGAINED!

        • worked for me at 12.22 pm

        • Yeah also got the error message but kept trying and it succeeded on 3rd or 4th attempt

        • Could not get it to work on Chrome but it worked first time in IE. Go figure.

  • Yeah I keep getting that error as well :(

  • Kaspersky Pure free 6 month offer and Kaspersky mac free 6 month offer are also still available via FB
    https://www.facebook.com/security/app_360406100715618
Further, Panda Cloud antivirus free 6 month offer https://www.facebook.com/cloudantivirus/app_105994622905206

  • +1

It says try later, system could not process your request.

    • just keep trying. i succeeded on the 8th or 9th attempt!

  • +1

I am also wondering if it starts from the day you process this or when you actually activate it (assuming it needs activation) as I currently have legit Trend license until 1st of July if I remember correctly.

    • I'm wondering the same - I need to format my computer soon so I might hold off from downloading it until later. I don't know when this promotion is valid until, but when I logged into my st george, it said that the message will expire on 13th of June.

Not sure if that's related to the program offer expiring or just the message.

      • Yeah that's the same as mine. I think I'll edit the offer and leave it open whilst periodically checking it.

    • +1

The last time I got a Bitdefender key through St. George the key was still valid over a year later (and for the updated 2013 version to boot). Things might have changed, though, so it might be worth your while to grab a few spare keys and use one of them now. :)

  • Just a warning Im not sure if it was this download or what but a virus crippled my firewall and i couldn't access any websites meaning I had to reinstall OS. Im just sticking to the Mcafee internet security I downloaded through Nab promotion and no other software beside the ones I know work with no problems.

  • How do you guys get the activation code?

    • email

  • Wow thanks! I had a free one year from some promo site in Europe and then added this key I just got so now have 620 days in my subscription!

Bd seems to work really well with win 8. I had Avira which wrecked win 8. Blue screens and unusable. I don't trust it still except on win7. Tried a few others and stayed with bd

  • I have St George account but I tried to get it and got the error message saying "Please try again. The system could not process your request?".

    Anyone have this problem?

  • I just keep beeing redirected to Bitdefender homepage when I click on "Go to the deal". Any hints what proxy to use?

    • +1

I take it you're from Romania; you'll probably need to find an Australian proxy or VPN, since it appears BitDefender is geoblocking this to Australia. :)

      • Thanks, I managed to get to the page but now I get the "Try later message"… I'll continue to rape the submit button.

  • also getting the same error message. not sure whats going on

  • ok so i just refreshed the enter this code and it worked.

  • +1

If you got the error to try it again later. keep submitting and i eventually able to get thru.

    • Yeah, I'm still getting the error.

      • Me too. I've tried about 6 times now :(
Maybe I'll end up staying with Avast free…

        • +1

Got through, spam the "Submit" button on the bottom.

        • Woohooo! just worked for me too :D
          Awesome.

  • I've updated the offer to include some answers to some stupid and not so stupid questions :-)

  • Stacked with various offers from previous OzBargain deals and accumulated 1067 days! :P

    • Wow… now that's greedy

  • Can I add multiple codes to get an extra year or 2?

  • now working!

  • choice (may 2013) review 1)eset 2)gdata 3)avira 4)kaspersky 5) f-secure 6)avast w7 firewall+free antivirus 7) bitdefender 8) avira free 9)trendmicro 10) avast free 11) bullguard 2) avg 13)mcafee

    cheers

  • Finally got it now.

  • Forgive my stupidity but is it advisable to uninstall existing Anti Virus software (McAfee in my case) before installing BitDefender or it's like? Thanks very much.

    • +2

Yes, it's recommended to only have one AntiVirus software to prevent any conflicts, so uninstall McAfee first

    • I think it will uninstall McAfee when you try to install it, my father in law said it automatically uninstalled nortons on his computer

but I would uninstall any other AV software first

  • I am surprised no one had asked this before. Is this a 1 user license?

or we can install this on 3 computers as most of the other AV products available?

    • This is 1 user license each but you can register multiple times on different computers with different email addresses or alternatively after clearing cookies (which have definitely been discussed btw).

As an aside, which products allow multiple machines as part of the standard license? All AVs I ever used always required 1 license per machine (granted sometimes the license is sold for 3 computers at a discount).

    • i did try to use same code on 2 machines and it works …
so would it be 3 machines license?

      • I managed to install in on two computers and two android devices. Thanks!

  • It must have some branches in Hong Kong, I tried HK proxies and it worked. Providing you select Hong Kong as country while registering.
Clean all your browser history including cookies.
    (HK = 202.155.202.198 Port 8080). Use 10 Min mail

    GoodLuck

  • Jeepers, this things huge! It was over 500MB to download on my Windows XP machine.

I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST installing BitDefender Internet Security 2013 if you are using Windows XP. It's made my PC very unstable even though it shreds BitDefender's minimum requirements.

My PC randomly hangs after startup. Microsoft ActiveSync returns an error everytime. I'm having troubles web surfing since pages are coming back half completed or blank (using Opera internet browser) and EventViewer doesn't work.

Do a Gooogle search on "Bitdefender sucks" to find tonne's of similar complaints from other Windows XP users.

Before I uninstall it I'll run the antivirus on all my drives. When its finished I'm removing it and going back to Microsoft Security Essentials.

    • Just downloaded and installed from my BankSA account.

      Thanks.

  • Do the codes stack? For example, if I get two codes: install using the first, then enter the second - will it extend my license to 2 years?
