Not really, don't forget the fact that international students don't get to buy concession tickets for public transport (except QLD), that's more like discriminatory to me
When I went on exchange in Vietnam and told prospective students there (who were coming to study in Australia) that they couldn't buy tickets at student prices they went 'wtf, that's stupid'.
I can't say I disagreed with them.
I am living in Victoria and studying in NSW fulltime by distance education, I am not entitled to concession public transport in Victoria
Yeah I've been in Australia for 4 years now, came to Sydney last year from Brisbane and I was like wtf when I realized I couldn't buy student tickets, since then I decided to live next to uni cause I don't wanna pay for normal tickets, not because I don't have money, it's because I don't support discriminatory.
Apparently all states except VIC offer a discount to international students now. Although i believe there is still discrimination as the discount in some states is lower than local students. I know SA and WA don't as they have the same discount for all.
