10 x Pregnancy Test for less than $3 (US$1.88) From DX

125

Baby ain't cheap, tests are :)

For less than a price of lollipops, you can get a pregnancy test kit. This is fraction of the cost of normal kit from chemist/supermarket and from the user review's, it seems quite a decent kit for 30c :p

It's great complement if you buy their 50 pack condoms (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/7840), consider it as 'insurance'.

Description from the site (it's rather amusing :D):

  • Tests for early pregnancy
  • Shows results in as little as 60 seconds
  • Cheap disposable solution to have for all families
  • Each test paper individually sealed in a convenient thin pack

Ha, you're asking for trouble yet again! :)

  • These are very cheap but are useless for early detection. The level of HCG needed to get a positive, let alone a strong positive is much higher than a normal test so be prepared for several false negatives before you get a true result.

If you're trying to conceive I'd suggest finding another brand (there are usually some in bulk on eBay), but if you've just realised your period is late by a month or so, these will do the job.

I'm going to give this a negative.

I love DX and I've spent a couple of hundred dollars there in the past year, but there are some things I wouldn't trust them with and this is one of them.

I'd much rather get a decent brand and pay more for it for something as important as this.

Regardless whether I would buy this brand, I am voting +ve, because this is a good deal.

May I remind everyone your vote shouldn't indicate "are you going to buy this product?" rather "is this a bargain?".

Given that there is no way to know whether these strips are actually effective in detecting pregnancy, or whether they've been produced to the proper standards, I would strongly argue that these are NOT a bargain, irrespective of their pricing.

I agree with GreenGuava and SirCH.

  • "For less than a price of lollipops, you can get a pregnancy test kit"

you are just taking the piss.

Maybe this is an attractive deal to certain people in certain suburbs…perhaps where the rate of pregnancy is higher

send some to that chick in Sussex

    • As far as I'm aware, ozbargain is not a forum for your biased monocultural opinions. Save them for somewhere else, this is not appropriate here.

I apologise for offending, and I should have made a more mature comment in understanding there are couples who are trying hard to conceive a child.

It was a very insensitive comment based evidently on the existence of communities which do have higher rates of pregnancy

DX are well known for selling fake and cheap junk, why on earth you'd skimp out on a pregnancy test is beyond me.

    • +3

i guess the fact they also sell cheap condoms would somehow explain the need for cheap pregnancy tests ;)

  • The fact these products are coming from a country with a limited child policy, kinda says they might actually be accurate. ;-)

The same country that put melamine in powdered milk products?

      • LOL, why do people always blame china? XD That was one incident, almost every large country around the world has had a similar incident when it comes to tainted foods.

Peanut Butter in USA killing people.
Heaps of cases regarding foods tainted with salmonella in other countries which AREN'T china.

Stuff from china isn't always bad, i bet your home is filled with heaps of stuff from china. haha The seafood you ate is probably from China, if its not from china then its probably from Thailand or Vietnam which is EVEN worse than china when it comes to breeding seafood.

  • If they work only with a high HCG level then you can get some more time to run…..

    lol.. what a response :)

I am no user or buyer of pregnancy kit, so I thought I just share this "find" with the rest of community. If you find it useful, that's great.. if you prefer the $25+ kit, then, it's also your choice :).

Bear in mind that the pregnancy test kit can be as expensive as $25+ and can be a very expensive expenses if you going to need it at regular basis.

I don't mind neg- votes but at least please substantiate your reasoning :),eg, voting down because of unrelated (melamine) incident is just simply childish.

I'll find some other interesting bargain in the meantime :)
