BWS 6-pack beer specials: Dundee Pale Ale $10 (save $8.20), Kiss Beer $10 (save $10)

140

After a very long time browsing, using, and commenting on this site, here is my first contribution. In the past I have found a few good bargains but usually someone has beat me to it posting on here!
Please be gentle…

2 specials for 6 pack beer at BWS, started today.

1 Dundee India Pale Ale - $10

I hadn't tried this before. I thought it was too good of a saving to pass. At the checkout the guy said "that's a good bargain you've got there. I've already bought mine to have after work." Apparently it was a pricing error, it was supposed to be only $2 off, but his boss said to continue selling them anyway. I tried one when I got home, I must say it was quite good. Quite strong (6.3%) and spicy.
This might be limited to only this particular store (Ashfield) but worth trying elsewhere.

2 Kiss Beer - $10

I can't say I've tried this beer, so I have no idea what it's like, but it is half the price it usually is for a 6-pack. Might be tempting enough for a fan of the band???

Hopefuly some others can enjoy trying some of these beers while on sale.

  • I took a photo of the Dundee beer price tag also but it seems I can only upload one photo per deal.

$10 is now the standard price for 6 bottles of KISS beer. At that price it's probably worth it. Remember seeing it at Dan's for $20 and thinking it was a marketing rip off at its finest (it was heavily promoted at KISS's Clipsal 500 show). The stock is probably getting old and they need to push it out the door.

To put it bluntly - The Kiss beer - it's not the greatest but it's not the worst - worth $10 and better than that Melchers that was posted earlier.

Can't speak for the Dundee India Pale Ale but at that price I'd certainly be willing to try it.

Dundee is a decent IPA. It's definitely not up there with top-tier IPAs like Epic, 8 Wired or Sierra Nevada Torpedo, but it's better than the likes of James Squire or Gage Road IPA. For a tenner it's a good buy.

Kiss should stick to making music. That's all I have to say about that.

  • Blegh to the Kiss beer..

You've been drinking it wrong. You need to stick your tongue out while drinking. Makes all the difference. Face paint helps too.

  • That Kiss beer is nasty, but the Dundee is a good buy. Just be sure to check best before dates first though.

  • Kiss Pi$$. It's been said here before but I like the ring to it.

Tanks OP. Will try the Kiss beer is only for the novelty value! Dan Murphy has been doing the Dundee 6 packs for $10 for a couple of weeks. It was a bit citrus for my taste but certainly great value for the price.

    • My memory of the Dundee is a massive grapefruit flavour… very difficult to drink, even at $10 for a six pack.

  • I was in a BWS the other day when i guy came in asking after Kiss beer. The shop assistant said something like "Really? Have you had it before?"

The customer said "I'm getting it for my boss and this is the worst beer I know. He's going to have a nasty hangover tomorrow!"

  • Wasn't a fan of the KISS beer, but kept the bottles in the man cave for novelty.

Wouldn't buy it again, even if it was $5.

  • I've tried Dundee IPA and it's not bad. Though I purchased it thinking it was an Australian Beer. It is brewed in the USA.

  • The dundee is cheap as it probably has avoided our tax.

For some time now it has been $9.90 at Dans. It came into the shops a while back with a few other american beers such as coronado orange avenue wit bier, and for a time you could buy a slab mix and match for $40.

You're correct on the dundee taste. It is quite a bitter ale with a full bodied taste and none too florally hop. For a pale ale it succeeds even coopers pale in the bitter style.

A 6 pack is a handy addition to the chiller as you only need one to enjoy the satisfying full flavour - unless you palette is for the lager or pilsener end of the spectrum.

Now if only sierra nevada were such a price!
