[Vaya Members Only] Galaxy S3 4G $400, Galaxy Note 2 $500, Lumia 920 $410, One X $350 - AU Stock

930

Just logged into my Vaya account and they have great specials on Australian stock handsets. Unfortunately you do have to be a member to take advantage of these, but they're fantastic value. Each handset is the 4G variant (if multiple variants exist).

    Best bargainis S3 @ $400

or for today Nokia 920 cos the redemption

    • Kogan had S3 for $380 10 days ago.

      • Not the 4g version. And that was the price less 20$ postage. And it's Hong Kong stock blehh

        • +2

Yes it was the 4G. I paid $379 including delivery. Polish stock actually ;)

        • How did you check what type of stock it was? The one I got was defaulted to english US

        • +1

How did you check what type of stock it was?

Firmware contained traces of horse DNA?

  • Are they outright or do you need to lock in to 12/24mth contract?

    • Outright, as far as I can tell. What I have in the screenshot are the only details they show ("More info" just links to the manufacturer websites).

  • is it unlocked? any contract?

  • It's definitely Aussie stock guys. When I logged in there was a pop-up thing and the promotion line was something along the lines of "The lowest price genuine Australian stock"

Here's the ad that popped up https://secure.vaya.net.au/images/All-Smart-Phone-UPFRONT.jp…

    • Thanks, I updated the description

    • is it unlocked?!?!

  • Wow.. incredible price on the Lumia 920 for Australian stock. You'd presumably be eligible for the free wireless charger promo too.

  • Ported to Kogan a week ago… Damn!!!!

    • Open up a new account, buy the phone, cancel account. Still cheaper.

    • I think you can still log in

    • Dealayed, how long did it take for your sim to arrive? www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102544

      • Sorry, didnt see your message.
I got mine in 3 weeks..
Ordered another which took about 2 months.. Guess they ran out of stock.
Finally managed to succesfully port all numbers to Kogan a week ago.

        • Did you get a 'shipped' email just before each sim (finally) arrived?

    • .

  • How much do each of these phones usually cost outright for Aus stock?

    • edit: see below

    • +1

From Mobileciti (sale price use coupon code MAY30OFF)

      GS3 4G $469
      Note 2 $649
      Nokia 920 $448
      One X $479

      • The S3 on Mobileciti is 3G only otherwise I would have grabbed one by now.

      • Oh wow. I have a Vaya account but don't need a new phone. Might just purchase and resell to reduce the cost of my own Note 2.

        • +1

not sure I get why ppl negged…I wonder which phone has the highest profit between purchase from vaya and sell on ebay

        • +3

Why neg? Does no one here purchase and resell? o.O"

        • +5

Yeah, I'm a little confused too. :S I see me making a little profit + someone else getting a cheaper than average phone without having to sign up for Vaya as a double win? shrugs But I think it would be the Note 2.

        • +3

If you are planning to sell on eBay, dont forget to factor in eBay's recently increased final value fee (9.9%!!) + PayPal Fees + Shipping Fees (Australia Post has also recently increased their parcel shipping fees).
After the above snoozers take a fair chunk, you may not end up with much.

  • Wow REALLY good prices for Aus stock..
The only thing that could "challenge" these prices is price beating at Officeworks with grey import models, but even that may be more expensive than this.

Kogan is more expensive for each of these models, and they sell grey imports.

  • +2

Mr Kogan - here is a competitor's challenge that surely you cannot ignore!

  • +3

So you would have to activate a Vaya Account:

    SIM: $20
    1 Month: $7.20

Now if you port out, you are not charged. But if you disconnect it will cost $30.

So if you're a Vaya customer it's good, but you'll have to add those costs to the minimum price if you just want the phone.

Or get a member to purchase it for you?

  • +2

I'm a vaya customer, been very happy with the prices I've been paying each month (note I'm on the old monthly deals though. Wouldn't be happy on the new prices)

This is great. Now I know what to do if (when) my S3 gets pickpocketed in spain.

  • Great deal!!! But how can I get an account with Vaya quickly without paying additional fee?

EDIT: Just saw Rumbaar has answered my question!

  • Hmm, tempted by Nokia and S3, except for the os, is there a major difference? Battery Life, Camera, Storage? Never had a windows phone but I only use windows as home so may be worth a punt…

    • +2

I think windows phone has better battery life because of its restrictive multi tasking (similar to iphone). Android definitely has a better app ecosystem than Windows however the Windows OS is more responsive as Android runs on dalvik (a compatibility layer). The windows phone is not really similar to your desktop windows at all, if you like running lots of apps and consider yourself a power user get an Android phone. If you like using your phone as a phone with some social network stuff then get a Windows phone. Oh actually another note on the storage is that Windows phone doesn't give you direct access to the filesystem whereas Android phone does and it doesn't have third party video players that play all formats like Android (MX Player, DicePlayer)

      • +1

thanks for the detailed response :) is the note 2 lte?

  • +1

So this would be a full 2 year Australian warranty on handsets with Samsung?

  • +1

Certainly the best prices in Australia. Can get Note II from Kogan for about $40 extra but it's probably not Aussie stock. Unfortunately I've already decided to wait for the next Nexus, or for the Xperia Z to price drop a bit. Would rather the SXZ over the Note II.

    • +4

Can get Note II from Kogan for about $40 extra but it's probably not Aussie stock

what do you mean "probably", it's DEFINITELY not Aussie stock!

      • +2

I recall some people did get aus stock from kogan from the last sale.

  • -5

    Good deal on the handsets.

Be aware that Optus has stopped letting their resellers (Amaysim and Vaya) offer tethering, so you can't use the phone as a modem or hotspot :(

    • +2

When did this happen? Hugely disappointing if it's true. I remember using a Vaya handset a few months ago and having a few issues with tethering- but I thought it was related to my phone…

    • What about LC? I used my phone as a hotspot just last week.

    • Hi RedHab,

      R u Vaya's customer?

I also saw this on their website saying we cannot use the SIM to put in tablet. Any Vaya users here can you confirm on tethering issue? Thanks!

      • +1

I'm currently with Vaya and am tethering my iphone to my ipad as I type.
Is this for new customers only?

    • I think Virgin should be fine right?

    • +5

you can't use the phone as a modem or hotspot :(

      Not correct:

Can I Use Tethering On Vaya?
Modified on: Tue, May 28, 2013 at 1:24 PM

Yes, all Mobile Phone plans can use tethering as long as you have a compatible handset. Tethering is available to all customers to use from their handset only. If you are using an Android phone then tethering will be enabled automatically from the time of connection. If you are using an iPhone, you simply need to send us an email to enable tethering on your handset. Please note, excess charges apply at a rate of $1.96 per mb to any use of a Flexi, Unlimited or other mobile phone plan in a tablet device.

    • +3

How can Optus stop tethering? Either they have to stop all cellular Data which means nothing will work on your phone or they sneak into you house in the middle of the night and hack your phone to stop the tethering function it has..

      • I think they can stop it as when I joined Vaya from Telstra the personal hotspot option in my iphone vanished. I rang Vaya and they had to activate tethering for me so I'm guessing they could always deactivate it.
Not sure how they control the hotspot feature on the phone though.

      • It's on a per carrier/reseller basis, Woolworths Mobile didn't allow tethering & AFAIK, only the iPhone has the ability for the carrier to deactivate tethering (it's why I switched to Aldi mobile).

    • +1

      Just plain wrong.

      • +1

        ????

  • I thought One X only had 3G? (One XL is 4G but only for Telstra)

  • -2

If anyone wants to sign up, I would happily be a referral :) PM me.

  • Does anyone know HTC one x comes in white or black? it doesn't seem to mention in it's description.

  • +3

Finally lured into an S3 purchase.. Curse you oz bargain!

  • -2

i'm guessing that note is not 4g…

  • If anyone with vaya doesnt want to use their purchase, feel free to PM me because i've been waiting for an Australian S3 for a long while. Thanks guys

    • +2

      your PM is turned off,
I am able to purchase one for ya, don't think I'll be using it.
I don't think its restricted to one phone too since you can preselect how many you want?

      • Assuming the Note II is the 4G model (and not one phone per account), can you please purchase one for me?
        Please PM me.

        Thanks a lot.

      • I want a Note 2, is it possible for order one for me? or just "borrow" me your account and I can make the payment by myself.
        TA

      • Hi looking for a note 2 4g. Is it possible to get 1 for me? PM me thanks

  • 2 questions

    1. How long will it take to arrive (going overseas in 2 weeks)
    2. Is it locked to any network

Calling them now to get the info

    • +8

Retards.. Its like talking to a brick wall

      • So I take it they answered all of your questions.

        • +1

They had no idea what I was talking about. Cant trust a rep that has no idea about the deal. For a company that specialises in communication they are not very good at communicating things to their employees

        • use the call back fucntion..

I got a call back in 5 minutes. But teh rep doesn't know if the HTC one x comes in black or white. Said will call back in 10 min….now it's been 1 hour…nothing yet.

But he said the delivery is likely to be 4~5working days

  • +1

    Help please.

    Not sure how it works.

I already have an ongoing contract with Virgin, past its 2 years. I wish to keep contract and number.

So if I get a new sim from Vaya…don't I get a new Tel No (which I won't use)?

Then there is the $7.20 subscription….I don't want to port the number. So I will have to close the account and pay $30?

    So all up :

    • Say S4 $400
    • Sim $20
    • One Month Sub $7.20
    • Disconnect $30

    Total = $457.20?

    Is the phone unlocked?

    • U mean S3 4g?

      • yeaa haha, s4 is 750$

    • @tsunamisurfer-Just get a two dollar sim telstra/voda etc and port away when ready (cuts $28 off cost)

  • All these likes but cannot buy it :(

  • Just got an samsung s3 great deal and by the way they are optus locked.

  • +1

How much to unlock s3? From another source. I

  • The service centre is SHOCKING.

    The telehpone connection is poor.
    Their English is poor.
Their comprehension of questions is poor.
Their understanding of this deal is poor.

The woman kept telling me to sign up first then call them about the deal.

Has anyone successfully signed up today and bought the phone?

She said I have to sign up, wait for the sim card to come to me, activate ONLY THEN can I buy the phone from them.

    • +2

      The beauty of outsourcing.

    • -1

yeah…worst reception signal ever when they are one of the teleco themselves….

I already on Vaya…almost got the phone…but didn't as no colour of the phone I wished.
Centre must be based in india.

      nevertheless…i still think it's a good deal…
Could anyone tell me WHICH IS THE bEST VALUE FOR MONEY out of the 3 androids?

  • +3

The customer service is only good when they are asking for your money.

  • THEY ARE LOCKED TO OPTUS

    • really? can be used for LC and Vaya and Virgin and Optus?

      • Yeah probably, they will obviously work with vaya

        • Vaya are selling em. Pretty stupid if ud have to unlock the phone to use on THEIR network.

    • They can be used for any provider that uses the Optus network

    • Yeah, but are these devices counted as prepaid or postpaid?

There's an $80 fee to unlock prepaid phones, but it's free for postpaid devices.

    • Where does it say bozo?

  • Just bought S3 and 920….no confirmation after payment…..weird

    • I'm taking the -$400 balance on my account as confirmation.

      • Hey guys, sorry to ask but when you purchase this deal, did Vaya provide you with a proper tax invoice? I was about to call to ask but dont feel like 'talking to some brick wall' on fri evening. Thanks in advance.

      • I used a different credit card for payment…but no invoice or confirmation

  • i bought one of the plans for 1 month and was charged $20. I also pressed on the s3 and it added to my account I didnt click buy though, I don't want it can this be fixed and taken off my account. I mistakenly didn't see clearly and thought it was $400 for a S4 I will cancel after 1 month as I'm already with Optus.

    • +1

      How on earth…

  • Can we choose the colour of the phone? Im interst in Note2
