Regarding to battery life:

Around seven hours wireless internet (70% intensity) and 4.5 hours DVD playback (100% intensity) are advantages that not all notebooks have.

  • These deals are making it harder to wait for haswell laptops.

    • That's exactly what the manufacture is praying on :P

    • When will we see new lines of laptops released? I'm usually the one buying last year's product for cheap though (instead of getting the latest lineup). However Inspiron 15R-5221 was only announced / released in CES this year.

  • +1

I picked one of these up recently for a bit less in the clearance outlet. Excellent machine.

Graphics card is quite good, better than it looks on paper too. Drivers are a little odd as they switch between the integrated and 3d graphics depending on the game. Thus your standard amd drivers are no good . Might be an issue with time if dell doesn't keep updating.

Can confirm battery life is enormous and CPU clocks up smoothly when necessary.

    • Does it have a backlit keyboard?

      • No, bit of a shame that.

  • +3

With regard to the battery a testament to its power usage come from me playing tomb raider with most settings on ultra for 3 hours the other night without realising it was unplugged. Not bad for gaming, it wasn't flat either after this.

  • This or the Acer M3 from this deal?

Avoid Acer like the plague. Although the graphics are a tad better on the M3, there is less RAM and build quality will most probably be worse than the dell.

      The i7/i5 shouldn't make too much of a difference (M3 vs 15R).

Dell has better warranty as well.

      • I'm finding the dell to be pretty solid in terms of build if that helps, no comment on the acer but ones I've used a few years back haven't held up so well .

    • would like to know this or the acer one? is the extra 3 years warranty worth it as well??
