  Though it's been said a few times, the new Haswell cpu has been announced which can increase battery life on laptops around 50%. Apple WWDC is soon and it's rumored to have the new cpus in the refreshed line up of Apple macs.

    I doubt the new Haswell cpu will increase battery life around 50%. The major consumption of electricity on notebooks is the screen itself.

      Too true i Screen account for 60-80% of power usage. That's why the aggressive power saving settings dim the screen & turn it off after a few minutes of inactivity.

      I'm not sure what the Intel guys were smokign when they made their claims, but it appears more like 5-15% in real world testing.

  This is the model with a hard drive and DVD burner. Doubt very much it'll get the Haswell treatment.
