    Han shot first!

  • +2

    It doesn't include Episode VII

    more like the "incomplete" saga…

  • Region A.

  • I would hold off now; hasn't Disney promised the fans to remaster the originals without Lucas' bullsh*t tinkering and extra cr@p?

(spoken as the deepest, most devout lifelong sw fan)

    • +1

probably, then they'll sell it for 2 weeks then put it back into their disney vault I bet. The assholes and their disney vault.

    • +1

As a part of the sale agreement Lucas has retained all final say rights on the SW franchise.

So I wouldn't hold my breath.

      • Source?

          http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tangled-rights-could-t…

Apparently this agreement ends in 2020. So maybe in 7 years.

        • Cheers :)

Just to clarify though, from that article, it looks like it's Fox who's holding onto distribution rights for the first six films rather than Lucas, so there's still hope they could strike a deal with Disney if they think there's money to be made in re-releasing the original original trilogy.

      • So no hope of a Star Wars Holiday Special on Blu-ray?

    • +1

There's all kinds of rumours. Another is that the source film has degraded to the point that it couldn't be used now anyway so the only thing to go off is the modified versions. Not sure if that holds up or not.

As it is, if you want it today I wouldn't wait. Any restorations would be years away at best. I believe the Disney deal has meant the conversion of the films to 3D was put on hold while they worked on a new film, so you have to imagine if thats on hold then other reworkings of the older material probably isn't a priority either.

That is too expensive to be a bargain!

  • Jb hifi had this months back for $72

  • I downloaded the Laser Disc rips of the orginal theatrical trilogy, I also own this bluray set, not too much different if you ask me

  • One of the worst remasterings ever.

  • I refuse to buy any Star wars gear until they release the originals without the Lucas extras in them added. He ruined my childhood…Ill wait 7 years….hell ill wait 37 if I get those originals without all the extra rubbish.

They released the originals untouched on DVD back in '06 from memory. The last time ever I think they claimed. Wy didn't you get them then? Till then you may need to invest in some tissues?

      • Those were garbage transfers from the laserdisc release.

    • I've got the original 1995 'digitally remastered' (onto VHS tapes) boxset if you're interested? I think they've been played once each - and possibly never rewound.

Edit: nevermind, they're readily available on eBay/Amazon
