I might be wrong, but I started to feel, whatever on cotd, because the manufacturer or distributor can't sell.

    • I agree.. but why can't they sell it? Inflated RRPs which retailers refuse to deviate from? or sub-par product?

    I want one but don't need one…

  • I have a japanese hario syphon coffee maker the same as this and it makes a nice brew.
very smooth - prefer syphon over machine any day.

People seem to like it on the youtubes…

  • Just did a bit of research, it's about $120 on eBay. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-BODUM-PEBO-SANTOS-STOVETOP-VA…)

Similar price at another random online store. (http://www.cybercoffee.com.au/index.asp?/Espresso-Coffee-Mak…)

$79 in USA, and they rate it 5 out of 5 at SGG. (http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/bodum-santos-pebo-stovetop-…)

    O_o Something's fishy here.

    • No one buys these in Australia? Or they're selling excess stock because a new one's coming out??

      • It's not like they can add Thunderbolt or USB 3 to it.

      • Dude this method (and product) have been around for about 40-50 years.

It's a lot of effort to make coffee, the token factor wears off after 3-4 uses. Though it does make a very smooth and full flavoured coffee, its hardly worth the effort or expense.

        • less effort than plunger coffee - no pushing required :)

btw the quick cheat is to use freshly boiled water from a kettle on the stove :)
