    Yup.

      Dude…free shipping!

      • +2

that is a mistake guys. It should say "free ship"

        • +2

          not a bargain, unless it's a …spaceship ;)

  • Price in title would be nice

    • +1

hard to fit long text :D:D

180 GRAND WHO CARES ITS A BARGAIN

  • +6

Do you do a discount for orders of 10 or more?

    • +2

i can throw in a record from your favourite artist (and possibly also a live private performance)

  • Holy crap. Where does the record go? I love my music, but can't think of a single record that I could listen to on this monster without feeling bad about all the starving children that could have been fed if I used a normal turntable instead..

  • Well, I was going to buy a house, but what the hell…a free $8900 tone arm is totally worth it…!
Oh wait, would this work with the $100-200 Dick Smith home theatre systems currently on sale?

    • No it will not because the DS HTS lacks an RIAA equalisation phono input. You will need an extra RIAA equalisation pre-amp, as well as a diamond stylus for the tone arm before you can play back any vinyl record.

  • +2

Thanks i just brought one for my son.

    • +2

Ah screw it. Bought one for the garden shed as well. Could you please combine orders? i know it has free shiping but it might save you some money. Cant see the margin being very big on something like this.

Btw when i told my son i got this for him he took one hand off his milk bottle and gave me a thumbs up.

Thanks digital cinema for helping me keep the family happy!

    • Bugger … Sorry tried to pos your comment but my fat fingers hit neg. Don't know how to undo.Sorry!

      • Click on votes and your neg should be shown. You can then revoke it, but not turn it onto a +, unfortunately.

  • Hi, How long is the warranty?

  • +4

No offence OP, but people with $180k to spend on a record player wouldnt be frequenting a site called OzBargain all that often. This is far from a bargain in my books. Even if it was 50% off, 10's of thousands of dollars for a record player feels insulting to me some how. I can't neg because of the rules… but this isnt a "bargain" in my books.

    • +3

if this is not a bargain then why did firstpost bekind just buy one for his son?

blaast has also postponed buying a house for this

rukia is think about buying 10

so rethink your position on this bargain my friend…

      • +2

I think your sarcasm detector is broken ;)

        • +10

I think your sarcasm detector is broken…

… unless my double sarcasm detector is broken..

        • +1

          Was that sarcasm?

        • Well, somebody's is.

      • Can you tell me how long the warranty is for ?

        • +1

The half-life of plutonium or doomsday, whichever comes first :p

  • +14

I think you need real audiophile headphones for this, like Beats By Dre.

  • I've been thinking about this. Maybe use my deposit for a house to get it

  • This seems like one of those things that if you can really afford it your not going to wait for it to go on sale also if you need to ask how much then you can't afford.

  • +1

Wow for that kind of money you could jet around the world and listen to live concerts by the artists instead of quality limited LPs.

OP, you wouldn't happen to have some gold plated master LPs to go with this? ;)

    • +1

LPs would need to be made of crack laced with human horn…

There is a kind of insane-wanker that blows huge amounts on pretentious display audio equipment and especially un-hearble "improvements" and upgrades. There is a whole industry that extracts large amounts of money from these fools.

    This is for them.

    ALTERNATIVELY:
You could easily employ 3 musicians as court-jesters to follow you around full time foe a year playing you anything you desire at the $179.000 price point.

Must add these, just lifeless without them:

  • I grew up before CD's were mainstream but I don't quite get this record player.

That said, it looks awesome, so obviously I want one because it looks pretty.

REP: Will you accept Western Union cheque?

    • Just place it on your coffee table for a suburb conversation piece at parties!

The chicks will love it ;)

      • +1

Just place it on your coffee table for a suburb conversation piece at parties!

Just what suburb would that be?

  • Where does the record go?

    • +4

Ask a legitimate question, get neg votes. Awesome.
      Feels like reddit.

    • On top of the platter.

Bummer, I bought one last week,

    • -1

Bummer, I bought one last week,

Was it not the same price last week?

  • …with all the bargains of late and now this one, I am going to be broke. ….I…….need. …to….resist.

  • Majority of people here know it's well worth the money and care every buck spending unlike richer who don't care how and where to spend cause they earn more than they pay.

  • cheap

  • +1

How do these do for scratching? I got some mad beats I want to cut.

  • +1

I cannot find under specs if it has a 3.5mm jack for my mp3 player?

Pls advise as that would be a deal breaker

  • Damn, I thought it was $179.80 with free Tone Arm value at $8900. That would be a true bargain… Should get a early sleep tonight, must be too tired this morning…

  • +1

    Come on guys.
For a piece of equipment that "breaks the boundaries and rules of music reproduction" $179,800 is an absolute bargain.
Remember - it doesn't just break the boundaries of music reproduction.
It doesn't just break the rules of music reproduction.
It breaks the boundaries AND rules of music reproduction!
Surely that's as good as a two-for-one deal!

  • +1

MOD categorized this as "Joke Post" while rep is taking this bargain seriously.

    • Au contraire. I'd say his tongue is firmly in his cheek. Consider the third comment posted in which he said free shipping was an error and that it should have read "Free ship".

  • After watching a youtube video of this record player I cant believe how difficult it is to setup one record, its not even automatic for the price. This is 2013 and im sure you could play better quality music from your PC (with a good sound card) and it wouldnt cost 180 grand.

  • I seriously thought this was a joke gone to great lengths (as far as setting up a website). I cannot believe this product is real. How profitable could this product be? How many would they sell a year and what does it cost them to manufacture?

I suppose if it cost them very little to make, they would just need to sell one unit to some sucker.

Total weight approx. 350 kg (770 pounds). I'll need an engineers report for my floor before I can commit.

    • +2

Should be OK provided you don't spin some heavy metal disks.

  • Hey buddy,
Can u reserve one for me. Is it first come first serve with limited stock 1 per customer only… or We can order as many as we like

  • +1

It says phone them for best price, so I did. Told me $1798 was the best they could do. I know it's 99% off, but I still wasn't convinced.

  • Amusing, but total shit, esp since Goldmund sell a better turntable for $300k.

The best turntable ever made was this one:
    http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue33/tx1000.htm
Given they are so rare, it might cost you $100k to get one in working condition.
