    Samsung really made a weird decision with the S4 in my opinion.
    If you want the Octa core you can't have LTE (i9500), if you want LTE you can't get the Octa core (i9505).

      That is to save battery. Octa core = more battery consumption, so no 4G and vice-a-versa

        The Octa Core was supposed to be designed to save more battery, ie it would switch to the slower cores when not in demand but it hasn't been fully optimised.

      Octa core was made with LTE, for korea. Getting the LTE to work with international freqs was tough for them, so they made a Snapdragon version. I think they had supply issues with the octa during first release aswell.

      also i did read that the 8 cores are split into 2 x 4 cores and they are not accessed at the same time… basically means only 4 cores are used at any one time :) i wouldnt worry too much about the difference in performance but as noted there's a small difference in battery i believe.
