Panasonic 7.1kw/8.0kw CS/CU-E24NKR Air Conditioner $1598 @ Goodguys + $320 Bonus Offers

50

Goodguys have the Panasonic CS/CU-E24NKR advertised in their catalogue for $1598. Currently Panasonic have a $200 rebate directly to your electricity account and good guys is offering a free Jamie Oliver knife set worth $120, or so they say.

The $1598 is about $200 cheaper than current other competitors and I couldn't get any other bricks and mortar stores to beat the price.

  • How much do these generally cost to get installed?

    • Depends on the property (ie is their power already near where you want to install the AC)

      Can be anywhere between $600 - $1200.

    • Ran a medium guage wire from the main switchboard to the wall myself, and did the holes in the wall and mounted inside and outside units myself. Got sparky to then make the connections, and plumber to connect the gas pipes.

$200 cash if you know your trades people well.

For $200 in NSW, he must be your best mate.

I'm a tradie in NSW, I know and have bartered work back and forth with many other local tradies. I don't know any that would bother doing any kind of a job for $200. Also good luck with your warranty as you have no receipt for the installation.

        • Plumbers were asking for more than $1400 from me for 1 hour job to drop the down pipe to the rain water tank and connect the drain. This was after I paid $800 to run the tube and fix a garden tap next to the tank from another plumber before doing the pavers. I got 12 quotes and they ranged from $1400 - 1850. This is in Melbourne South East in 2010 and I am a migrant. At the end I ended up doing it my self spending maximum 2 hours and cost was less than $40 for the drain pipe.
I have work mates who have their best friends plumbers doing their work for unbelievable price. My chances are very thin to have a plumber or sparky who is a best mate.

  • FYI - for anyone living in SE Qld, Energex will also give you another $250 towards it if you sign up to their Peaksmart Aircon program: http://www.energex.com.au/sustainability/rewards-for-air-con…

  • if you need shipping this is a cheaper alternative (w/o the knife set):

However if I were you i would buy the fujitsu one. it's better than panasonic (IMO) and similar price with its $200 visa card promotion. Can be had for $1630-$200 = $1430.

    • A word of warning , at least for panasonic, terms and conditions for the rebate specifically exclude online purchases.

    • I would have to agree with you Sharp, I've got this Panny but my inlaws 2 year old Fujitsu runs much stronger and cools a lot faster than mine :(

  • Mitsubishi have a far better reputation
    7.1kw cooling

    1540+ 43 delivery(for me)
Take off another 175 cash back offer

    • I was also considering the Mitsubishi Electric model. Questions though, has anybody used appliancecentral to vouch they are good to deal with.

Also, the mitsubishi offer is even more precise in terms of "authorised sellers" than the Panasonic offer. They have a very long list on their website and I couldn't find appliancecentral on that list.

    • So does Mitsubishi generally have the best reputation for split systems? I'm after one, and imagine the most important features are efficiency, noise & reputation but haven't found good info sources for noise & reputation, seems to be lots of different opinions on forums. Any pointers to quality discussion/info?

I've got both this pana unit 7.1kw and a Mitsubishi 3.5kw model. Not sure if its because of the size of the Pana. But it does seem a lot louder even on quiet mode than the mitsubishi. I went for the Pana downstairs because of the EcoNavi function (A technology also found in the more premium Daikin models). The Mitsubishi worked effortlessly during summer in the bedroom upstairs. If you are installing one for your bedroom, I definitely recommend the Mitsubishi just on the noise level alone.

  • Out of curiosity, what kind of room / house size does this unit do? 7kw seems like a lot but it's not a ducted whole house unit, is it?

  • I got this installed just this week. Great unit. Tried out the heating function (8kw) and it heated up my huge living a lot quicker than I thought. Replaced a standard 3.5kw wall unit with 2.5mm gauge cables. The sparky said it wasn't necessary to re-wire since the maximum draw for this unit is only around 11Amps (existing cable on my 50yo property is capable of at 15Amps). All up I got mine fully installed Back to Back for $2200 - $200Rebate. This is a very good price.
