  • How does it compare with the http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102246 ?

    • +2

Roughly double the brightness. But WARNING, this LED can be VERY hot after 10 minutes of continuous usage. Not something i want to hold on to for anything longer than 10 minutes. Definitely hot enough to cook an egg.

      • That doesn't sound like a very good design.

My Nitecore gets warm (not the 4xAA one), but it certainly never gets so hot it would burn you.

Edit: Also whats with some of the very fake sounding reviews of this torch

Excellent flashlight, very powerful. Product of extreme quality. Quick shipping product arrived in properly protected. Good seller 5 stars for all. I recommend.

Then he/she didn't even rate them 5 stars for everything…

        • The "quick shipping" is a load of rubbish. Bought the T5 torch last time around and took almost 4 weeks to the day to arrive. I think they say allow up to 6 weeks for delivery.

        • Was it inspected by customs?

The torch I bought from banggood many months ago was inspected by them (had a stamp on the package) and it took about 4 weeks.

Torch was a POS anyway, but yeah I don't think anyone gets things in 7-15 days - even business days).

    • T6 should be brighter that Q5.

      • Those are just bin numbers, and may or may not be true.

The real point is that this is an XM-L, the other is a XR-E, which is a very big difference.

    • +3

potentially a large difference in light output due to different battery type being used, this uses 18650, the other deal in the link uses AA.
If you are not too familiar with using 18650 batteries or don't have a charger, you need to buy both and need to be aware of the risk with using 18650 batteries, especially unprotected batteries.

      • what's your opinion on these batteries and charger from ebay? Do you guys recommend using a different brand?

        EDIT: just did some research.

No point being too fussy with a $5 torch, but $2.88 for a pair of batteries inc post!?
Don't expect them to last long, or hold much.

        • +1

I have a few different ones from the cheapy brands… they work, no idea if they are as good as they are specced at.. but for the occasional use with the various cheapy torches I have they seem fine. I just make sure I only charge one at a time, and only when I am home and can keep an eye on them.

  • this seems bright

  • doesn't include battery.

    Also see here: http://whrl.pl/RbQ0NE

  • Can AA eneloops fit this one or not?

    • You can fit one in, but it won't do anything.
You need Li-Ion, as used in phones, laptops, …

      • Sounds annoying…and where am I meant to hide all my recently purchased eneloops….

  • what is 18650 battery??

    • A lithium-ion battery. You can probably pick up a few from banggood as well. You'll also need a Li-ion charger.

      • If you rip apart a laptop battery, you'll find a crap load of 18650 stitched together.

        • +1

I'll pass my laptop kinda likes having a battery, dunno why its so fussy :) .

This one might be better for robotdad.

    • Thanks ziggy

These are really bad, I have 2, very very weak :/

  • Bummer… I saw the 8% code last week an bought this exact torch for $9.99..

  • Damn, think this is over already. :(
Says $8.88 and only 17% off for me.

    • Thanks for the update. Aw that sucks. Hopefully you'll get one next time

  • I'm a bit concerned that I read it as 'Tactic Zombie Flashlight'. Not even close.

  • OP. The code does not seem to work?

I cut and pasted it from above your post, though it says invalid.

    Any ideas?

    • Hi zonbie, I can only assume that the coupon has expired. I found the coupon in their 5th July newsletter.

  • ok. Roger that. I was too late. Looks a like a good torch for that price. Keep 'em coming…..
