  • So is it CREE or EPISTAR LED's?
Your title and description is misleading on the item.

    • sorry, it is epistar led's, don't have enough space in title, I add this msg in description now. thanks for reminding me.

  • Can't find any info about the LEDs on the manufactures website.

It would be interesting to know what type of Cree LED's though.

I don't own one of these particular units but I can highly recommend an LED bar vs. traditional Spotlights in many situations. For those like me who don't need to see 1km down the road via but need an instant powerful 'blob' of intense light up to about 200-300m ahead and about 50m wide then an LED bar like this is perfect. Awesome for spotting wildlife running out from bushes on the side of the road!!

I blew $500 on my 100W version but only because I needed a super slimline one to fit neatly within my grille so 12200LM worth of CREEs for a third of the price is amazingly good IMO.

Just as a note for those thinking of putting this on their car. It must only be used as a 'spotlight' i.e. will need to be turned off with oncoming traffic. My partner is an Auto electrician and has had numerous people return needing another 'spotlight bar' or 'driving bar' as only having one is illegal. I can only comment for WA though.

      • wonder why only having one would be still illegal? the rest of the country is allowed one but has to be fitted to the centre of the vehicle..

Actually there was an ADR change close to two months ago to cover all states, so your hubby may need to get updated

Yep, I went through all this here in QLD when fitting mine. Up to only a couple of months ago you needed to fit a blanking plate to the centre of the bar to make it look like two lights. Crazy! I chatted with a Queensland Transport Vehicle Modifications guy for about 25 minutes about these things and he was referencing all the ADRs for me and said this is no longer the case.

The other thing I wanted to know was exactly where I was allowed to install the bar because it seems the rules have also changed allowing these bars to be installed well above the headlights (ie. on roof racks) and he really couldn't give me rock solid data on that only telling me that as long it was on a separate switch and only available when the high beams are on it should be OK to fit anywhere. I only have a small car but do a LOT of rural highway driving and the only place I could fit mine was down low inside a lower grille below the numberplate. Not ideal for best lighting performance BUT it still works amazingly well. I might put another couple of smaller ones up on my roof rails to enhance the effect.

        • LOL yeah its a bizzare thing, I know with the landcruiser club some of the guys had issues, but being 4x4 and the roof mounted lights they just rite them off as being "work lights" lol.
Ive got a awening installed on my landy and also led lights on the roof rack, the adr law allows these to be covered under the "work light" heading.
these are amazing lights and at the price of this one carnt really see how you would go wrong

Does anyone know what the CRI and duty cycle is? I'm wondering if it'll be suitable to use as home lighting, bounced off the ceiling. I'm assuming it's 6000k?

    Yes, I like bright lights!

  • 120W but it draws 8.2A @ 12V?

    • Bargain wattage :-)

    • yep something is not right. If the current draw is correct and even if running at 100% input to output efficiency the LED's could only be drawing a max of 98.4 Watts.

  • Cree based one the same is $214 on ebay.

    Hi OP,
Can you please advise the IP rating, LED Life (Hrs) and the Colour Temp?

    • +1

      Agreed… IP rating please OP!

Even Tigerz11 light bars are IP65 ( Totally protected against dust ingress & Protected against low pressure water jets from any direction. Limited ingress permitted.)

      • IP67, over 30,000(hrs), colour temp is 6000K, I'll update this on the website now. cheers!
