Sony NEX F3 Camera $305.00 at Dick Smith

270

I just picked up a Sony NEX F3 with 18-55 lens from Dick Smith in Coffs Harbour. It was the last one but the bloke there mentioned that Grafton and Port Macquarie both had a few in stock still so it might be worth a phone call to your local store as this product is no longer listed on the website.

This price includes the 15% of Sony camera deal which I think ends today.

Good luck.

Great price, you overpaid for a crappy DS memory card though.

      $29 for 8GB card - ouch

Yeah, I know. Got too excited and let my guard down.

Return it and get a 32GB and change for the same price!

      • Officeworks has an 8GB Sandisk Ultra class 10 for $10. I just bought it a few days ago.

    • Yeah what the heck. You can buy an 8GB SDHC class 10 card from JB Hi-Fi for $10. Stuff paying $30 for one like the OP did.

      Example:

  • How is this compared to the NEX-5n?

    • +4

      NEX-5 / NEX-3 = 1.6x better

      • It's easy to say that as there is almost double in price.

5n is better in term of picture quality + touch screen but it doesn't have built-in flash.

All in all, it's about how much you want to spend & how serious you are in photography.

        • The accessories I bought for my F3 are more than twice as expensive. The devil is in the detail.

  • I bought it for 350 from the last deal.
I love it. I used to have canon 600d before but it was far too big for me.

There are 2 things I don't like about nex f3.
    1. You can't use a wireless remote controller.
    2. The intelligent system & menus

  • OP should return the SD card and get his money back if he actually hasn't taken it out of the package and started using it yet and buy the Sandisk Ultra 32gb SDHC class 10 card from Officeworks for $37 which is only an extra $7. Dick Smith just ripped him off badly in that case. Even the Sandisk Ultra 16GB SDHC class 10 is only $19 from Officeworks.

    Plus for a camera

But Big minus for SD card

Is there anyway I can plus & minus the same time?

    Anyone?

    Mr Scotty?…Mr Neil?

Deal posted is for the camera and not for SD card so you can't neg about it.

    • yes, you can, just leave it blank (1-1=0)

  • Thanks for posting about the deal OP! :) I went and bought one myself just then. For those who can take advantage of a Woolworths staff discount card, don't forget about that - it brought the camera price down to $289.89 for me.

    • DSE is no longer owned by the Woolworths group. Do they still accept their staff cards?

      • Some one here reckoned they used a Woolworths staff discount card to get a discount on this camera from Dick Smith. But I can't see how considering that Dick Smith no longer has any thing to do with Woolworths since they sold it off to a private company so basically the Woolworths staff have nothing in relation to Dick Smith. Perhaps the Dick Smith staff member stuffed up incorrectly thinking that Dick Smith was still owned by Woolworths?.

      • The Woolworths staff card can be used at Dick Smith until Christmas this year. Hope that clears up any confusion. :)

        • I see. It's all good then.

  • How's this compared to EOS M?
Got an EOS M during cash back period because I couldn't get the $350 NEX F3 deal,
might get one now if it's worth playing around with

    • I was looking at the NEX-3N (updated version of the F3) and the EOS M just recently as a present for my gf (doesn't know much about photography) and decided to go with the NEX instead. Reasons for the NEX:
-built in flash (for non-pro's, it's very useful for regular outings)
      -slightly smaller body
-flip up screen (for girls it's useful)
-awful autofocusing on the EOS M (although it's somewhat better now, but I still think the NEX's is a bit better)

Image quality wise, they are very similar but I'd put the canon slightly on top of the NEX 3's. Really depends on what level you consider yourself to be in the photography world and your intended use for the cameras. All in all, i think the NEX is a better all-around package than the EOS M.

    • How much does a prime lens cost for NEX - 3N?

  • none in SA according to my local guy

  • +1

I got the Canon EOS-M Twin Lens Kit for $299 from previous deal posted. Very happy with that deal :)

  • This is better than Sony hx30 which I got recently for $230 from myer which was on a good deal.
You guys think I should try to return that and get this instead?

    • NEX and HX are two completely different type of cameras.

  • This deal ends today Monday 15/7/13. It's interesting to note this camera was $299 a few weeks ago.
