  • Dual core only, low-res screen. I think you can get better for that price.

    • Galaxy Nexus for $269 included

      • Where from?!

For +$10, the Optimus 4x HD offers Tegra3 Quad core performance, Quad band 3g, double the memory and a 720p screen. No brainer really.

Get this, upgrade to Jelly Bean (or other 3rd party ROM) and it'll blow this Xperia out of the water.

Totally agree. I think the Optimus 4x HD is too often overlooked.
But get it from here: https://www.noworries.com.au/phones/lg-mobile-phones/lg-opti…
It's cheaper @ $294 delivered (that's $6 more than the Xperia) and you get it in 4 working days, not 3 weeks.

      • Bought my 4X HD from the noworries guys in March. Absolutely love this phone!

        • I got two (black and white). Great phone, great shop.

        • only problem is that their office is inside a PO box

        • Are they Oompa-Loompas?

        • Actually, the phone was sent from their office in HK. It had the "no worries" company name and a suite number. So it's an Australian company sourcing stock through their overseas office. Same as Kogan. Frankly, I don't care how they do it or where their office is, as long as I get my goods.

    • That's why you're the "phone guy" on here ;)

    • Wow… That's a lot of phone for not much at all!!

Any drawbacks that you'd care to mention?

  • As an alternative I can highly recommend the ThL W8+ for $A249 delivered with free screen protector:

Awesome phone (English user manual), competitive price and reputable supplier.

    • But no support for 900MHz 3G (Optus), which can be an issue. Otherwise great phone.

      • You can use Optus on 2100MHz 3G.

        • assuming their 2100mhz network covers you, which for me it doesn't.

    • I'm actually shopping around now for the THL W8 Beyond at the moment. Do you know if THL Mobile Mall have free shipping?

      • The ThL Mobile Mall website indicates free delivery to Australia (accepts payment by PayPal). Mine arrived in 17 days.

    • So 3G: WCDMA 850/2100MHz only no good for Optus.

      • I am with LC which uses Optus network. I am using 2100MHz 3G, no problems so far.

  • For fans of the Playstation brand, the Xperia L is Playstation certified so it has access to Playstation Mobile and the exclusive games.

  • There is an updated version of that thl w8+ that is posted above, it has a 1.5ghz processor and 2GB of ram, worth looking it up, it's an amazing phone.

  • Sure postage is a long wait, but it would still arrive weeks before the SIM cards they're selling.
