Thought it was a console… oh well

    • What he said. ;)

I come into this deal thinking it was an xbox360 for $59 ~ * flips the desk in rage*

  • Damn, I really need a HDD for my phat console. Is there some way to hook up the slim HDD to my phat console?

    • I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if it would work if you just open up the enclosure and swap them.

      • +3

Yes, you can definitely swap them - the HDD's within the phat and slim enclosures are just standard 2.5" SATA drives, so they're completely interchangeable.
The slim enclosure can be tricky to open without damaging the plastic housing, but otherwise it's very easy to do.
Also, you can buy the empty phat HDD enclosures on ebay for about $12.50 if you don't already have one.

  • The last time kmart had the hard drive on sale I must have called 5 stores nearby and all were sold out .. Ended up paying $99 from MightApe instead.. The new 320gb kits have Need for Speed and a pinball game download code rather than the lego starwars code…

It's really not that hard to read the WHOLE title, lol.

    • It's not what they read, it's what they wish they'd read.

    It's only the hard drive…

That's why I wrote "HDD for Xbox 360 slim" not "Xbox 360 slim console" in the title.

Thanks op. While pondering whether my local k-mart would have it in stock, I took to youtube to see how to install a drive and came across a DIY video showing how to modify (firmware flash) specific 2.5" drives for use with the xbox. I remembered that I had an unused drive from an old laptop that I had upgraded to SSD. Found the drive and it just happened to be one of the compatible models. Now I have 320Gb xbox 360. Not bad for $138 (bought at recent Big W sale).

  • im selling my brand new 320 gb HDD for $ 100

    • Buddy, you can get it for $50 on Ebay..

  • weren't they clearing these out at $39 one stage.

Might have to wait a little longer, xbox one should bring prices down.
