Qantas Asia on Sale - Sydney to Hong Kong Return Economy $768

600

Cheapest I've seen for a return flight from Sydney to Hong Kong for some time. Just paid $798 return on their previous Asia sale a few weeks ago so this looks really cheap.

Other sale fares include:

Singapore $808
Manila $868
Ho Chi Minh City $995
Tokyo (Narita) $1198

Travel dates from 11 Feb 14 to 30 Jun 14 for Hong Kong, other destinations may vary.

Not only that, but I hear they have 30kg of luggage! Good post.

    • +4

Then utterly outrageous per kg charges after that. $105 per 5kg in prepaid allotments. $30 per kg at the airport.

      • +4

no different from any other airline for "overweight" baggage.

  • Just FYI I've been looking for flights this morning from MEL-MNL on book.qantas.com.au and I've found fares in the SEPTEMBER HOLIDAYS as low as $403 one-way. (Try 3rd Oct 2013) - seek an ye shall find!

Edit - just realised that the deal is for RETURN flights! My bad!

  • -5

Such a scum, I did a search on ticket on 11/7 and it was $300 cheaper than what's on sale now~

    • +1

I can't tell you're trolling or just a native troll.

  • Just bought tickets (Qantas) to Hong Kong for the Sept school holidays for $770 return per adult. Direct flights.

    • cheap!

    • No I've just checked, still around $850, where did you get $770 returned?

      • I found the cheapest price available from the ITA Matrix site,(from memory about $830) printed a copy of the itinerary, took it to my travel agent and they managed to get me a better price. So it may be worth your while asking a travel agent to check out your web deals!

  • " Price includes taxes, fees and carrier charges except local airport taxes collected at time of check-in"

    What does it mean?
We have to pay another ~$300 on top of that?

    • +1

In some countries the airport tax is collected directly at the airport. (Philippines, Indonesia etc. )

      • is that a normal statement for an airline to make?

        • +1

Yes. But these days it's rare to find you need to pay airport taxes locally.

        • But if you're flying MEL<->HKG, there's no need to worry about that line item.

  • Shame Perth is more expensive which doesn't make sense… I mean double the price!

    • I believe QF no longer does PER-HKG direct anymore. That route now goes through SIN. Even worse, the SIN-HKG is code share on CX. Hence why it's so expensive. It's a shame because now CX are the only ones with a PER-HKG direct service and so there's no competition!

    What a complete ripoff…

Just goto expedia.com.br and buy from there…

I am writing this from Manila right now - I flew in last week. Qantas "Asia Sale" was $899 return.

I flew the same planes and paid $620 return…

That $279 can get you almost a week of decent accommodation here…

    • You're probably right about Manila but the deal was mainly for Hong Kong, the other countries were supplied just as a reference.

Singapore has been as low as $699 I think so not the best deal for that either, however they HK deal is the best I've seen for quite some time.

    • +4

i think really you should + this deal :)
when qantas have sales then the price on expedia br drops as well, so you do actually benefit from these sales.

      • I'm not sure if prices on expedia br are still cheaper anymore.. took a look to try and book some flights which were cheaper but as of last week all the prices have gone back up…
maybe expedia br/qantas has fixed the lower pricing they are getting from expedia br?

        • I flew into Manila on 18 July 2013 using fares purchased on Expedia.com.br on 14 July.

The savings were well over 30% on the Qantas "specials" at that time…

The price I paid is still more than $240 less than these latest "specials"

Agree though that expedia.com.br isn't so good for HK flights - still great for Manila and Bangkok…

I recommend you to do your research before making your "ripoff" comment.

$768 SYD-HKG is the lowest I've ever seen for the last 20 years, not to mention 30kg luggage, A380 aircraft on selected days of the week…

      • Well I'm traveling solo and i booked through flight center.

$763 and they give you $250 credit to put towards hotel or tour.

So direct air flight with Qantas return only really costs $513

Have anyone purchase from booking.qantas? Can you choose your own seat?

On the last Qantas Asia sales, I purchase through expedia.com.br and I was not able to choose my own seat?

Have choose your own seat become an extra additional fee on Qantas? Or its because I made my purchase through Expedia?

Booking through expeida.com.br is generally always cheaper then to book through booking.qantas

      • It costs money to choose your seat on international flights if you don't have status with Qantas' frequent flyer program.

    Hi,

I was loking to purchase flights to Las Angeles in May 2014 and was wondering if there are any ways of getting cheaper deals? I have tried expedia brazil but doesn't seem to make much of a difference in price.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

    • +1

Not sure what qantas HP is but I put Qantas ff details into my booking on expedia br and logged into my qantas ff account soon thereafter and my booking was in there!
