I saw this TV for $509 2 weeks ago on from Kogan… why has it gone up so much ?

    • Yeah, not a real deal. I'm still waiting for my 55" LED smart TV delivered for $720. Better to wait for a real sale or pre-launch price.

  • +4

This price is average, its a Kogan TV, don't forget that.

Whoa, how to make buying Kogan even less reliable: buy it through Groupon!

Can I pay by Western Union transfer? :)

      • +2

        sorry, only wire transfer .

Damn. Guess it's the ol' cash-in-an-envelope for me. Yup

        • Tell you what, special deal just for you, Sir, $598 by PayPal, just sign into PayPal using this special link…

      • I'm pretty sure their new headquarters is now in Nigeria…

  • Has anyone got one of these? Would it make an OK secondary gaming TV? Or would I be better off with a second hand Samsung/Panasonic plasma?

    • I wouldn't really consider this a deal considering my brother got an LG 50" plasma for $400-500 around 8 months ago from his local Harvey Norman. That would be a much better idea.

      • +1

I am pretty sure that LG would have been HD only (1024x768 resolution, wide pixels!), not full HD (1920x1080).
        Maybe this one?

Having said that, I would probably go for a cheaper brand name plasma ahead of any Kogan TV too.

        • More likely referring to this.

Seen full hd 50 inch plasmas for around $500 before.

        • I actually didn't take notice if it was full HD or not. Wasn't a deal posted on here either.
Picture quality seemed fine to me though.

    • If you have never owned a decent TV then I'm sure it will be great.

Otherwise its going to have poor picture quality, poor built in software/firmware and won't last much past its warranty.

I will come out of my cave once a 55" goes below $600 delivered :-)

  • are kogan tv's that bad.

    • Yes they are, and so is their support. My mum had one which cost $850 and the remote died after 6 months which they replaced, then the TV died after 2 years and they would not fix or replace it unless she paid all costs which were ridiculous. My sister had one and the remote died TWICE in 18 months. Crap gear and they don't care at all about their customers getting a fair go.

    • i don't b eleive the Kogan stuff is that good either.

sister in law bought 2 tv's, one remote died, the other tv died twice.. Yet she wants to buy another…
