I saw a Slendertone product on DealsDirect and thought it was silly product but surprised to find reviews are positive on Amazon so I ordered one, although the price has dropped in the last couple days so thought I would share if anyone is interested. The premium model has the most settings. There is a cheaper basic model also -

I'd rather not based on reading this
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405274870477970457455…

From the article "You are not going to see any fat loss, and you are not going to see a six pack. You have to get off your butt for that," according to Fabio Comana, an exercise physiologist at the American Council on Exercise.

    • yeah everything suggests it is not a weight loss product but strengthening, which is better than nothing

      • It isn't better than nothing unfortunately. Probably not worse but there is absolutely zero science to support these products and their claims

Fat loss is based on calorie deficit. No exercise magic, fad diet or special machine will make you lose weight if you eat calories than you burn. Can't beat thermodynamics.

  • You "thought it was silly" and are correct!

  • not to point out the obvious, but aside from the fact if this really works or not, why would I pay $25 pounds more if the low was only a few months ago.. id rather sit on the washing machine in the interim whilst the price goes back down again.. anyways each to their own, I wore the aldi tights and got a PB.. placebo you reckon? :)

  • scaaaammmm!

  • Massive effort by that model not to burst out laughing

These are definitely useless for their marketed intention. We do use these in rehab with people who have completely lost the ability to use a muscle (let's say a stroke patient before volitional control returns) and they work fairly well to maintain that lowest of low levels of muscle activation. But they won't build any muscle (definitely not a six pack). You actually have to fatigue muscles to do that AND lose weight as even the biggest six pack is invisible under layers of fat. While these units do fatigue muscle, they preferentially stimulate the easily fatigued fibres (due to the innervation that they target); in fact the order of muscle fibre recruitment is basically the opposite to what is seen under normal physiological activation.
So, they don't do what normal exercise does. So, it's all nice sounding but cough cough you actually have to exercise.

if it doesnt tire you, it won't cause you to lose calories.

if it doesnt cause you to lose calories you won't lose weight.

physics, law of conservation of energy, cannot be transgressed.

  • Oh, not only it's this a bogus product but you have provided an affiliate link to make money from ozbargainers who get suckered. Nice.

  • I wont neg because you should neg the actual bargain not the product but this product is garbage.

The only way to get abs is to reduce your bodyfat through diet and weight lifting.

No one in this world is rocking a 6 pack on 12% bodyfat, no matter how many crunches you do or how many gym bunny cardio classes you go to and most people that do crunches have way more than 12% bodyfat so stop that nonsense and start squatting, deadlifting, benching etc.
