  That's about the right price for this wine, considering it sells for 2.99 Euros a bottle at Aldi in Europe…

  Shame we can't have European prices on all the wines here, many a liver would pass out ;-)

  Good deal though, the only reason I don't vote (and buy) is that I don't like Cabernet.

    Scandalous that it's cheaper in Europe than here… it's not like wine taxes are that much higher here, either!

      That's what local retailers say. But once you start doing the math you quickly get a different impression.

      First of all the wine tax is based on the wholesale price, not on retail prices.

      If you add up Australian GST and wine tax and compare it to the (much higher) European GST rates you are left with a justified price difference of somewhere between 5% and 10%, not 200% (as would be if this wine ever sold at RRP $13.74).

  Created an account to buy this, but then got the email confirmation of my new account - with my account password included! This demonstrates a pretty fast-and-loose relationship with site security (ie, not only is it a bad idea to email it in plain text, it shouldn't even be possible - the password should end up hashed and stored without being written anywhere)

  So now I just need to wait for the next ACG deal :)
