good deal, can also be used in conjunction with the 4c and 2c vouchers! The only thing worrying is the Sunday petrol prices, which may be a fair wack up from Tuesday and Wednesday prices.

  • cheers. good bargain.

  • Not too sure how this would end up comparing it to Tuesday/Wednesday's petrol prices.

  • difference with Tues/Wed price is around 4c/litre … I reckon

  • Yeah. this would be quite higher on Sundays compared to Tuesday and Wednesday. It would only work for people who need to fill up on Sunday

  • nice find

  • not available in WA :(

  • Excellent find!

  • Brilliant find! I usually only fill up with V Power anyway and there's usually around 7-8c difference between 91 and V Power on any given day of the week.

Re: 1 million hits… lol how will they police that? Sif we can't just save the screenshot and then upload it…

    • Might be a unique barcode for each hit - easy to monitor and police the number of hits a page gets.

      • Monitoring the hits is easy, but if the intention is to control the amount of coupons being cashed in on the day, I'm pretty sure it does nothing. I've saved the coupon image and I'm about to spam it round to my mates lol

      • +1

Might be a unique barcode for each hit

Nope, remote desktop to computers connected via different ISP, always the same barcode.

    • Mate where do you live. The difference in Sydney is EXACTLY 13cent price premium from 91 unleaded to VPower. I know as I have only been using VPower for the last 4 years (car must run on 98 ron). I'll be at Shell with my 4c coles voucher this one and a petrol drum.

  • +4

Forget saving the image file. Just each of us print 20 copies of it, and stand in front of your nearest Coles Express Shell outlet on sunday…Best Neighbourly award, here I come!

    • Ahahaha, like your style!

  • Nice one, thanks :)

  • bloody hell! filled up this morning for $1.18 (minus discount)and that lasts me for a week! My Getz doesnt use that much petrol. lol
very good find anyway. will spread the word!

  • great find, just what i need for this sunday!

  • Damn… Can the Supra last that long with 1/10 of a tank?! Good job with the find (even if I do need to fill in a bit so I don't stop traffic on the Eastern Distro..!)

  • it's a unique voucher based on number of hits on the website. Also valid for 150 Litres ONLY, so no good backing up a semi-trailer :)

  • Great stuff! Not sure whether the V Power has any benefit to my old 4 banger though…

  • be interesting if they keep prices down, to get more people to try the VUnleaded

  • 3 letter T O P

  • S*it, I got my tank full yesterday.. !!! Bloody s**t!

  • That's ace - actually a saving of 13 cents a litre compared to the reg unleaded! Gotta make sure I have an empty tank Sunday… great find.

  • Just beware ColesXpress boost the price for VPower on Sunday.

    • Rubbish, V-Power is always 13c/l more than ULP.

I work for Coles Express and we haven't even been told about this offer yet.

    • Wouldn't matter anyhow - since this offer means it'll be the same cost as regular unleaded

  • Shell does good quality fuel.. better than Caltex, Mobil apparently

  • Oooppss… just filled up on 'cheap' Tuesday! ;)

  • Sweet. Only on half a tank so far, but we'll see how we go come Sunday; cheers for the heads up.

  • Fastest and highest-rated bargain of all times guys? ;-)

    • 3rd most popular in the last 90 days, I'm sure there have been other bigger ones in the past too. Or maybe Big Oil is moving their focus to online bargain sites, I don't know.

    • Ricky Ponting's balls got over 100 eventually :)

  • When I first started pumping, it was a 10c difference. Then 13c. The other day, I pumped @ Chadstone Coles Express and the difference was 15c per litre to RON91 (not talking about E10).

Still, if you pump this anyway, good coupon on Sunday :)

    • That must have been a console operator that did a price change and doesn't know the V-Power price difference over ULP. It's always 13c/L more than ULP at Coles Express.

  • just like smoking, they put on to you, but once you're hooked with it, you cant let it go…..

  • Does your barcode say 99100000000903290013 ?

    • Yup, same barcode. Photocopy away!

  • Just out of curiosity, what kind of savings are people making with this voucher? $10 ? $15?? or more? I'm very surprised that people view this saving as "better" than the Nandos deal.

    • +3

i don't know if its an australian thing or a worldwide thing, but petrol/oil has that effect on people.
People put in more effort in saving fuel much more so than other things in their life, and to be honest I am not sure why.

This is not targetted to bargain hunters etc, or this deal in particular (which does look good) but I think its just in our nature.
Eg. People will go to the supermarket and buy $27 worth of goods. They think, might as well make it $30 to get a 4c voucher (so they may spend more than they need to). Then you have to go on a Tuesday or Wednesday (normally) to get a better price, which of course everyone else is doing, so you have to wait about 5-10 minutes. And in all seriousness, you save $2. I think most people fill up once a week and say you have 2 cars, makes it $4/wk, $200/yr. I am not taking into account money saved by filling up on cheap days (which is more effective than the petrol vouchers)

What I'm saying is - we should try and get cheapest price we can get, but petrol prices seem to strike at people's emotions more than anything else.

You could save hundreds a year in fees by choosing a different super fund or home loan for example, but we do not put the same effort into that (or other things) as trying to fill up a bit cheaper this week.

      • People are so passionate about cheap fuel because:
        1) Its never on sale
        2) Its an inevitable purchase in modern society
        3) It comes out of your pocket every week - people hate opening their wallets.

Therefore people may think they already have the "best" deal on their super/home loan etc. but cheap gimmicks like this is the ONLY way to save on fuel.

AFAIK I think there is no other way to save on fuel, even if you know someone that works at a fuel outlet there is no way to get a discount.

    • The most you would save (assuming you buy 150 litres) is around $25 but you've spent $150 to do that.
      A 15% saving.

    • 13c (as some have quoted) per litre, over say a 44L tank (which is my little sedan's capacity) - $5.72. But of course, I wouldn't normally buy V-Power, so the saving isn't in dollars, it's just a better product for less. But I agree - no idea why this has proven to be so popular - guess people really are passionate about cheaper petrol.

    • Not sure about other people, but I haven't even opened the Nando's deal because it's not in my area. Coles Express (aka petrol) is something that I can relate to because there's Coles Express servos in my area.

      You're kidding me aren't you?

      • +3

dead serious. shouldn't be promoting a company that still runs full page ads for their 'green credentials' yet has pulled their investment in renewable energy

just because of your negative vote, i'm going to buy a large amount of petrol, then burn it in my backyard during earth hour to spite you

    • -4

Agree with you tommyc… these guys should be doing specials on their ethanol fuels instead of their "high octane" jet-fuel.

It's funny how people are giving negative points to you when all you stated was a fact. People live in denial.

      • +4

DO you realise that that these "high octane jet fuels" actually burn cleaner and get better mileage than regular unleaded. So you travel further for the same amount of fuel burnt! Therefore you pollute less based KMs driven.

        • +2

there are also studies that say E10 fuels aren't efficient fuels and worth the same price as premium fuels when taking into account the mileage that you get out of a full tank!

  • 100 votes

    Is this the first time?

  • Good sounding deal, but I am reserving judgment to see how the price looks on Sunday (compared to the week's cycle).

  • It's a shame I own a Diesel car

  • +1

Scotty didn't plan to see a deal over 100 votes, looks out of place :P

  • +1

wow youve saved $2.13 go buy a mars bar

  • 100? For this? Really? Scotty - how many first time voters jumped on this one. I'm happy my bargain cracked the ton, but surely this smells a bit fishy.

  • Dunno i paid 112 for vpower on tuesday…Im sure unleaded will be at least that on sunday…

  • We've printed up a couple, fill the car, the boat and a couple of drums- we still get the 4center off too don't we. Hmmm…hopefully it will work with being a regular and a happy disposition.

  • I work for Coles Express and we still haven't received word of this at work.

And don't worry, there will definatly be no jacking up the price on Sunday, Coles Express doesn't operate like that.

    • they may not jack the price up just for sunday. But the reality is on tuesday petrol will be 10 cents cheaper anyway so why not just wait?

  • "Coles Express doesn’t operate like that"

Nahhh they make plenty enough from collusion.

  • Yes, almost all big company CEO sleeps with each other…

  • just fill the car
    119.7 at melbourne burwood

  • Just came back from the out of schedule fuel trip - 116.9 per litre after the discount and without the usual 4c off docket. Could've been 110.9 if I've used the 4c docket plus spending $2 unnecessarily at the servo.

  • Got my fuel today woohoo. Since I always fill up with VPower, extra bonus. Down from 125 to 108 including the 4c coles discount.

  • Used it today at the Shell on EPping RD, works fine!

  • Great - Was 122.9, With discounts 105.9. Will see if it makes any difference to my Echo - not expecting anything though!

  • +1

I couldn't access a printer (forgot to do it at work) so photocopied the netbook screen. Accepted!

    V-power - 4c/L - 2c/L (bought some Coles Belgian chocolate) @ regular price! :)

(This was after getting some amazing deals at Birkenhead Point (70-85% off!)… see my profile for the weblink).
    http://www.bargainconfidential.com/blog/?p=445

  • V-Power was 126.99 where I am and I filled up enough to get a $5.50 saving (something like 44lt). About a 13c saving. Don't shop at Coles so I had no extra discount, but a good deal!

I've got a new 08 Lancer and I'm undecided on whether or not I should use regular or premium. They say it doesn't make a lot of difference in 4 cyl cars but I've also heard new cars might as well use it. Well, we'll see how it goes. Might get hooked on this primo blend..

    • i dunno if its true, but i got told that its cleaner and better for the engine, and that u can gain horsepower from using it. my cars also a 4cyl, but supercharged >.<

i think, if u can afford to spend the extra bit on better fuel, why not =)

    • You should contact a Mitsubishi Dealer and ask for their opinion it's not like they are going to make money on your decision so they shouldn't be biased about it. I have a BMW, 4 cylinder and noticed that the petrol does last longer when I get V-Power over Shell's normal unleaded. So I usually just get V-Power anyways.

      • I notice the difference in power in my toyota car when using vpower.

  • Same old story here in Nelson Bay where we must have the dearest fuel out $136.9 vpower $123.9 for the 91 octane everyone wants to now why all Shells arnt the same price ? suppose well just have to keep living with it!

  • Topped up V-Power today for ULP price of 116.9/L, a saving of $5.05 (no Coles discount dockets). I think the chance ULP will drop to 103.9 on Tue/Wed is very slim. Very good deal indeed. Thanks.

  • saved me about $5.55 with discount docket

  • +1

saved $5 while topping up our tank…then i also couldn't resist the "buy 2 cornetto's for $5" deal

    :D

it was perfect after a day at the beach! thanx 4 posting

  • So what is the general concensus, worth it?

  • Today thursday av ULP in sydney shells is $1.12 and thats supposed to be the highest price in this weeks cycle. so really unless you needed fuel on Sunday - guess the savings really wasnt that much - lets see what the price will be this Sunday…

    • +1

Good point. Who will pay that price for fuel. Ill give this deal a neg
