  • Which is it:

    "N40L + Seagate 2TB $339, to get this price, buy HP N40L with 250GB HDD pre-installed - $269 together with Seagate 2TB"

    or:

"Buy a Seagate 3TB hard drive along with N40L or G8 to get a combo price of $339 / $489"

    "HP MicroServer N40L $269 + 3TB $339"

Do we get a 2TB HDD or a 3TB HDD with an N40L for $339?

    • Hi Grish,

Typos on title, 2TB + Microserver is the combo deal :)

      Regards
      SE

      • Missed the deal, wait for the next time.

  • The title says 3TB for the combo, the description says 2TB. Is it 2 or 3?

  • does the G8 comes with a DVD rom/ writer? or that's a hole like the N40L? cos the picture shows a media drive~

  • Why is the N40L $70 more than last month? you can't blame the weak OZ $$ for >35% increase.

Also the $339 package is $40 higher than previous offers and comes with a 2TB not a 3TB.

I think $329 with a 3TB would be reasonable when you factor in the weak AU$ but most other IT shops haven't increased their prices that much (yet).

      Hi redhotchilli,

I believe i have mentioned to you before, the microservers have increased in cost, not just due to AUD. They are phasing out and we posted the N40L deal again specially because we noticed quite some people have missed out our previous deal via comments on old post, emails and phone calls.
Hopefully you can understand and appreciate our effort? :)

      Cheers
      SE

So it's not a great time to buy a N40L then? should have bought it last month. Being an avid ozbargainer, it's too hard for me stump up $269 for something that was $199 a few weeks ago - hope you understand.

        • +1

          Ditto

        • Hi redhotchilli,

I do understand how you feel… If we can keep doing those prices - of course we wanted to keep it that way so it makes everyone here happy. This is one of the place we get great support for our Microservers and we want to keep it that way & is why we've tried on every post - repeating prices are going up, reminding, mentioning to buy now as we can see the cost are going up.

          Regards
          SE

Phased out products should be put up on clearance prices.
Price increase seems to be more due to demand though.

I missed out the last time because the "WEEKEND" code ended on Saturday night.
I managed to get one this time. :)

  • For those of us who do have the N40L already, could you do a deal for the rest?

4x WD 3TB Reds, 8GB RAM (non-ecc) and Graphics card?
    and free shipping?

      Hi zonder,

I can do something for ya, please PM me to discuss this further

      Regards

  • Kingston 8GB Non registered ECC - $95
This is currently a presell product with estimated dispatch time of 3 to 5 working days.

Rep, Is there an 2x8Gb version of this? Have been tested on the G8?

    • Hi aldoduco,

If it does not work on the G8, send us back for a refund :).
You need to buy 2 of this product as there are not 2x8GB version - good thinking..lol :)

      Regards
      SE

      • But it wont be paired

      • I have sent you a PM

  • i need a new deal on 3tb WD green hdds…

  • Can someone get a Gen Microserver and try to put 32GB of RAM into it ? :)

    • Send me the memory ;)

  • Is there any love for N54l.I am desperately after HP Microserver N54L.Can you do anything on N54L rep?

    • Hi thaner,

I can make it a combo deal at $399 with 2TB Seagate Drive.

      Regards
      SE

  • How is the data transfer speed of this one? Is it good for media streaming server/NAS?

    • +1

If your home network is 100mbps, the N40L will easily saturate that link. It makes an awesome media server/NAS box.

  • No discounts on the N54L?

  • +1

This isn't a dig at SE, but I can't see the G8 flying off the shelves at this price even with the updates

    • Thats one of the reasons why the n54l and n40l prices have raised

    • HP seems pretty confident these will be a great successor to G7 - there must be a reason. I am sure we will know in time as we know more and more what this new Toy could do :).

      Regards
      SE

    • I agree, the advantage the G7 had was price. You couldn't put anything together for $200 that gave you similar functionality. With the price of the G8 that advantage is gone.

Also, the lack of a second PCI Express slot is going to put off most of the HTPC crowd.

  • Glad I bought my N40L back in May, although I haven't touched it since I got it.

  • Looking to buy 4 N40L's for a new setup I am doing… Can I just do 4 orders is the max definately 1?

    • We don't have many of the N40Ls in stock at this price so the max is 1 per customer, but if you send me a PM, i'll see what can be done.

      • That's ok, I'll leave it for others then… I'll use micro PC thingy's instead, no moving parts.

  • Hi,

I want to get the N54L Combo for HTPC and VM. Can you do a package deal for me?

    N54L MicroServer NAS
    Kingston Value Ram 4GB - $38
    2TB WD RED - $114
    Gigabyte HD 6450 1GB - $39

Let me know how to make the purchase. Thank you.

  • "Maximum Internal Storage Non-Hot Plug SATA 12TB (4 x 3TB) 3.5" SATA "
    doesnt support 4TB drives?

it has got HP iLO which is kinda cool…
also because there is no esata i dont think it supports as many drives as the n54L

ohh how stupid i was to pass up the N54L when it was 229!

    • It just can't boot off 4TB drives from memory.

  • +1

I have a couple 4TB drives in my N40 that are fine. It didn't say you could do that either. Reports are you can't boot from a drive that size.

  • Hi rep
What is the best you can do for N54l?
    Thanks

    • Hi chutibuti,

I can't sell any lower seperately, but as per earlier comments:

I can make it a combo deal at $399 with 2TB Seagate Drive.

      Regards
      SE

  • I purchased the Gen8 last night. They were advertised here to be:

    Gen8+2TB=$489
    8GB Ram=$95
    graphic card=$39
    Total=$623

I paid $604.90 because the online checkout said so. Now they asked me to top another $54.50. It does not add up.

    • Hi groupwest,

Please PM me the order details so i can have a look and help you out.

      Regards
      SE

  • Also giving wrong pricing on the N40L.
$299 with the voucher, and $343 with the 2tb drive.

    • Hi porterble,

you need to add voucher code: MICROSERVER-5
to get the discount, can you give it another try?

      regards
      SE

      • +1

Working with the voucher code now. Wasnt previously. Thanks

  • Hi Rep

How you would recommend "Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB GDDR3" (in your above list) in Micro server as cards power requirement is 400w, where as severs PS is only 150w. Has this been tested??

    Thanks

    • Hi chutibuti,

Yes it works & this card have been sold together with our Microserver deal for a while now. If you do experience issues in getting them to work, you can contact us about this issue & will definitely be entitled to an exchange or full refund.

      Regards

  • What is the main difference in these 2?

Buffalo Linkstation Pro Quad Chassis 4 bay NAS Net
    and
HP ProLiant N40L MicroServer NAS 658553-371

Which one will serve a better life span and transfer speed?

Please assist. I am new to all this. I currently have multiple hard drives storing all my files.

    Cheers.

  • I received the Gen8 with HD6450 and 8GB RAM. Guess what? The DIMM box seal was broken. After I installed it, it did not work. Boot process stuck at the Memory check forever. Dont know if DIMM is bad or not compatible. But they said they tested it and working. I just emailed them to rectify this.

    • +1

      Hi groupwest,

No worries there, our support should be looking to it early next week. If you can send me a PM with the ticket id that will be great. We've advised before if you had issues with the memory, you are entitled to a full refund for it.

      Regards
      SE

      • My G8 plus 8GB just arrived and the extra RAM is also the incorrect type and it won't POST with it installed. It's running fine with the OE 2GB at the moment.

I ordered ECC part KVR16E118I from the link here however the one which was delivered was non-ECC KVR16N11/8.

The RAM packet had also been opened…

KVR16E118I is on my order email however KVR16N11/8 is on the picking slip so it's not the warehouses fault.

SE, I've replied again to my pricing error email with all the details :)

      • Same thing here, received two, both were opened and it didn't work on the G8.

Edit: It looks like the model that should work is KVR16E11/8I, not sure what the 'I' ,means.

Edit2: KVR16E11/8I are the Intel validated version of the KVR16E11/8 ram

        • Hi overcoat,

Very good feedback, will find out what is going on. Do apologize about inconvenience caused and will try to resolve this asap.

Thanks SE, I got the KVR16E11/8I memory today and 16Gb working so far.
