  • Opening Deposit must be made by a linked Bankwest account.
You therefore, have to be (or are going to be) a BankWest customer.

I would switch to this from my TeleNet saver if the interest rate did not drop to below that of Telenet saver when a withdrawal is made from account.

I have my savings in telenet saver and withdraw the $2,000 per month required into the Zero transaction.

    • telenet saver been dropped to 4.25% while fixed term deposit is 4.21% for 4 months period.

      • That upset me.
When interest rates increased I was upset I locked in at a cheaper rate.
BankWest informed me that most of my money would be at a new interest rate.
I aksed if this was guaranteed til April 2009 like the terms stated.
        They said it was.
        I know I'm getting 4.25%

I could open up another account (making 4 in total- 1 everyday and 3 savings: Telenet @ 4,25%, Regular saver @ 6%, and this Smart eSaver 5%)

Regular saver is still the best but I can only deposit $500 per month.

      • are you guys getting the intro rate for your telenet saver…my latest statement says it's only 3.45%pa

        • Intro rate is only for 12 months. My Telenet saver has reverted back to 3.45% too…

  • Is the Regular saver still 6% - Crownie? Need to move from telenet saver. I am sure there are better rates out there.

  • I am still unclear about the interest rate.
Official RBA rate is 3.25%. Hence Bank West offer 5% if no withdrawal and if
there is a withdrawal drop to 3.25% standard rate.
So if official RBA rate drop to 2.5% (different 0.75%)so Bank West will offer 4.25% (0.75% differences) if no withdrawal and if there is then drop to 2.5%, am I right?

I am stay away from regular saver 6% because after 1 year they will take all the money of your regular saver and put back to the normal acc and you need to start from beginning again depositing your money with regular saver so it is not worth it after 1 yr because on the 13th month you only get interest 6% from $50-500 that you deposit on that month (not all deposit money of your combine first 13th month). I hope you understand what I mean.

    • We've been through the debate about the regular saver interest rate.
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/6366

While you cannot use it for your large nest egg, it's still a bigger interest rate than anything out there.
I switched to Bankwest when regular saver was @ 9% and telenet saver was @ 7.75%- both much better than Westpac's 5-6% at the time.
Telenet has gone down to half the rate it used to be but because of the deposit restrictions of $50-$500 the regular saver is seen as a worse account yet it yields a higher interest rate.
Regular saver has only gone down 1/3 in interest due to these deposit restrictions.
