  I wonder if there is a business model in selling at home party packs. You could import the bear pattern, stuffing, accessories, etc. and sell party packs where parents can return unused patterns and accessories for a refund.

  Considering the $5 bears at Target earlier this year, there must be plenty of room to undercut build-a-bear's pricing.

    and the smile on the shopkeeper's face when you bought so many useless extra accessories for the bear

  Bought my girlfriend one of these a year and a half ago, she still loves it to bits! I made it in the store, that was the best part! Still, not too bad if you want a customized bear.

  I'd rather build my own… from patterns.

  Already done it once (although I never bothered finding somewhere that sells eyes so…).

  Actually I bought a bear kit from Woolworths too $11. Just need to put the stuffing in and use the plastic needle+thread to seal up the back of it.
