  • Will JB or Dick Smith be willing to match the price or it's better to buy from MSY instead? I wonder why Officeworks doesn't sell the Acer A1..

    • +1

Well I've just tried asking JB on Bourke Melbourne and the guy told me that they don't price match MSY because MSY is not a retailer but a reseller..

Edit: Dick Smith doesn't price match either. How's the experience of buying electronic devices from MSY?

      • That has to be the dumbest excuse on the block. I'd respond with "I don't buy from JB because you're a retailer not a reseller".

        • Ya I know the excuse sucks but they wouldn't budge and it seems like not a lot of MSY branches has stock at all, or at least in Melbourne. So I rather spend the extra $20 instead of going on a wild goose chase

      • I just tried a JB in the eastern suburbs. They just said they can't price match this. (They hadn't heard of MSY before)

Well I ended up having them price matching Dick Smith that's selling the A1 at $199 (until August 12, according to their website).

        • Oh … you got JB to price match Dick Smith's $199.

I've got an MSY 10 minutes away from me so I might see if they have stock

      • Picked one up yesterday from JB at Browns Plains (QLD) for $178, price matched to MSY, sales guy had to get manager to approve it but no dramas at all. Signed up for the 29 cashback and the free 12 months accidental damage cover. Pretty happy with the tablet so far.

  • I had this before. The touchscreen is not very responsive at times. I would save my money for Nexus 7 version 2.

    • The same Acer A1? I had a go with it at JB and it was running fine

      • Yes, I got it from Acer estore during their first launched with massive discounted price 99 only after cashback. However, I was not impressed with the touch screen sensitivity as compared to samsung tablets.

I think you might be thinking of Acer B1. I thought A1 is pretty fine.

      • I got the B1 from the JB sale. Response is fine. I play plants vs zombies on it and that gets pretty frenetic when you're up to wave 28

      • he's talking about the aceroutlet acer A1 sale for $129 before $29 cash back.

  • I actually went to MSY last week to ask about the A1-810 and they were out of stock. So I ended up getting one for $199 at Dick Smith, after cash back it'll be $179. Ah, should've waited.

    • You mean $170

  • MSY is awesome. But the customer service is average. they don't speak english very well in some stores. Although it is getting much better

  • I am interested in a 10" tablet. Anyone got any feedback on the metalbox mp10 msy is selling for $179 ??? Anything out there better for the price without getting from china by mail ??

    • build quality is average if not subpar.

  • Wait for nexus gen 2 or buy gen 1..great value for money

    • +1

nexus 7 gen 2. double that price min. ($149x2)

  • got one today at Slacks Creek and happy with services.

  • Is anyone familiar with "micro HDMI to VGA" cables?

Does this mean we can plug this tablet into a VGA screen?

Thanks in advance for any help

    • +1

as far as i know, you will need a converter to do the job. HDMI sends both audi and video signals.
