We bought this as a living social deal for $27 each (so total $54) but after extensive delays living social cancelled the deal and guessing the supplier now has heaps of these to get rid of and we managed to get them to agree to this deal.

I was looking into a chopper, and I have seen this one on gumtree for 30 or less brand new! This appears to be the 'nicer dicer' or a very good replica.

    Only good for soft food

I bought one from Big W for $99 (so surely not a fake!). It was fine for cutting soft foods, but carrots required force. When I tried cutting a raw potato the blade bent & cut into the lid. Definitely not worth the money I paid! Fortunately it was returned without any fuss.

Where do you return these and who covers postage if you need to ?

Found some info on their site
      http://www.giftsforthegirls.com.au/pages/shipping

Currently, giftsforthegirls.com.au ships nationwide throughout Australia.
If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, giftsforthegirls.com.au offer returns subject to the item remaining in brand new condition.

Obviously a bent blade is not in 'brand new condition' so won't be able to return a damaged item!

If you think it's going to be an amazing time-saving wonder like in those American infomercials, you are mistaken.

$214AUD? HAHAHAHAHA! RIGHT!!!!! wow… these guys must think we're extremely stupid… barely able to breathe kind of stupid.

and yeah… the guys who demonstrate these at the shopping centres are using some skill in not breaking them. Notice that they only chop soft veges in front of you, and the harder veges (potatoes) are always precut!!

They have no stock either - I ordered 3 months ago through Living Social but supplied by these guys - Living Social cancelled all orders in the end as giftsforthegirls kept pushing out availability dates. Check Living Social facebook for all the unhappy customers.

They did email everyone who had orders cancelled, offering them the same price - which I took up - but still seen nothing. Guess they've got a lot of people's $27 in their bank account - as for whether we'll ever see the product - who knows!

The same product is on sale at eBay for a fraction of the cost.
    Not $214.

$26 buy it now for one pack on ebay

Looks like most of the bad reviews revolve around paying $90+ for something and then not reading how to use it…or believing infomercials.
People like that deserve to be disappointed.
This deal doesnt look like much of a "bargain" as this appears to be a pretty standard price for these now.
But I have one of these and it does a pretty good job if used correctly.

    • +1

Ah, no they don't. Some paid around the same price… But many 1* comments said "broken blades"

Goto the link, click "terrible" and read them 1 after another.

I wouldn't take this deal if it were free!!

      • Not just the broken blade issue, the blade becomes rusted after few uses.

      • well thats funny as most of the reviews i just read were about "doesn't perform as TV commercial". the reviews about broken blades i am guessing didn't read instructions about preparing hard vegetables before cutting. the rest about the plastic being crap or shipping damage.
as i said, mine works fine.
i got what i expected and i only bought after i had already read the reviews and figured out why most people had a problem.

Gifts for the girls? I'd get sliced and diced if I presented this as a gift to my wife…

Bad quality replica from China. The blade will break after couple of uses and it does not perform quite a few function as it claims to be.

  • +2

I've been keen to get (a good) one of these for a while now. I believe it's the German-made Borner 'V Slicer' which is the legit, good quality version?

    • Yes, I use the V Slicer every day. Fantastic.

    • Further research brings up the brands: Oxo, Benriner, De buyer, Bron. There's a couple of Japanese models out there - might check those out - Japanese products tend to be made very well…

Don't waste your $27 because this won't cut anything! Go read some reviews and you'll know this is useless.

  • This is the one I want linky.Although I can't really justify spending $70+ on a grater :(

Just a warning about these guys. I ordered one of these slicers through LivingSocial MONTHS ago. I didn't know at the time but I later found out they were being supplied by Gifts For The Girls. Long story short, LivingSocial cancelled the order due to GFTG not being able to fulfill the amount that were ordered. GFTG then put the slicer on backorder and proceeded to spam me every couple of days telling me if I still wanted one of these for this wonderful price then here's a coupon and blah blah blah. I never signed up with them and it's obvious LivingSocial have passed my email address onto them without my permission.

I've since unsubscribed from both GFTG and LivingSocial. I now glad got a refund on my original order. I just don't like companies that do shonky things like this and I won't order from either of them on principle ever again.

  • It's over priced even for $27.

  • +1
    • That is $23 for one…. This is $27 for two….

  • guys, its fairly a good deal already. approx $8 if you buy it in China. Plus international and domestic shipping fees, its not bad..

"$23 delivered from aliexpress" is shipped from china and taking upto 2mths..
so i would say its not bad.

  • Hmm I sure they make some of these in Australia. I sure they would work.

  • Did someone received item ? I bought one,had been promised delivery 20 August- open support ticket - no reply at all.
Went to Paypal and open dispute. Will report outcome.

  • Received it - will do testing…

  • kindly awaiting your review :)
