iHerb Offering Free Vitamin D3 (Shipping Extra)

110

iHerb is offering two types of Vitamin D3 for free. (All prices quoted are USD)

21st Century Health Care, D-1000, D3, Extra Strength, 1000IU, 110 Tablets
Normally $5.99

iHerb Nutritionals, Vitamin D3, 5,000IU, 120 Softgels Normally $9.99

These are 1 per customer and 1 per - You cant order both.

Some have questioned the need for 5000IU so if that concerns you then order the 21st century product with 1000IU

As with all iHerb products its better to order more items so you get advantage of combined shipping which is $4 for 4lbs. Although they do ahve a DHL special shipping of $8 as already mentioned here at Ozbargain (search).

If you are a first time user you can use my referral code which can save you $10 off on your order, or $5 if the order is below $40

A referral code saves you and I get benefit as well.

Another great product to look at is their Stevia offers by NOW foods

$3.95 down from $8.95 but limited to only 1 at that price. BUT this is per flavour, so you can buy one of each flavour. I have tried most and like the Tropical fruit, Blueberry pomegrate, coconut, all in water or sodawater, 5-6 drops per large glass gives a sweet flavoured drink.

The Dark chocolate works great in coffee to give a mocha flavoured coffee,

As a side point. iHerb wont ship products with Xylitol, but customs have now changed the rules, and these can now be imported. I have advised iHerb of this and hopefully they will raise the ban at their end.

  • God how I love iherb and the Quest bars they provide me.

    • Wow, I just read about them and decided to order some.

Low carb protein bars without shitty sugar alcohols!?!

Though my last interaction with the Monk fruit (norbu/luo gun) ended less than happily.

Did anybody manage to buy from this place at all ??

This is the second order I am trying from them. First one failed as I could not go through their credit card verification process. This never happened for any other online purchases I do. I could always use the same Amex card and bought so frequently from international suppliers.

The same happen for this order as well. They sent an email asking me to verify my credit card. When I followed option 1 according to their instructions and entered ($) 2.00 in the box to charge to verify the card it says "The amount captured is not valid!".
I tried with different amounts and I get the same error.

      • If any of you guys have managed to successfully order from this place, what type of payment method did you use? Did anyone manage to pay using Amex card?

This is a strange site. I don't want to consider this as a dodgy business as you all seem to be fine with this place.

      • Yeah my transaction appears to have been reversed?

It says "Transcation pending - $40", but then also has a Transaction pending + $40.

Wondering if the name "iHerb" has the banks thinking its drug related items and are cancelling transactions?

turn off your computer and go out in sun

ROFL, maybe you need to do the same thing… :)

    • i've got my window blinds open :)

      • actually - you might find the stevia great with your Easiflow Yogurt maker

  • Are Xylitol products actually made here at all?. I saw a few in local health shop a while back - and no i didnt check if it was imported or not. How long had it been banned for?

In regards of D3, some people cant actually go outside for 20minutes a day and stand in the sun (isnt that recommended minimum?)…. hence why this will be useful for some ;).

iHerb has some good stuff and imho better value than buying it here - also dosages are higher than whats available in local products sold here (bit of a ripoff price wise when you think about it).

    • The ban on imports has been for a while, the legislative repeal was on the 14th of Jul 2013

      • Interesting. Ill have to go check the health shop later today.I swear the Xylitol products have been on shelf for more than a few months lol.

        • It was an administrative change, it might be that importers had a way of arguing the point, whereas joe average with small shipments just had to wait.

I dont know. Just obviously some customs inspectors were knocking back shipments, so iherb wouldnt ship again.

I had bought some items from them in the past which had xylitol and they got thru, then iherb started to stop shipping some of those products.

iherb wouldnt stop shipments unless there was some "legal" reason, they are in the business of selling…

  • nice deal got some things to order as well

  • any problem ordering yerba mate from here?

    • yerba mate has been around for quite a while, if your order is accepted I'd say its probably ok. iHerb wont ship if they had shipments with a product rejected by customs in the past.

      Likewise Vitacost does the same.

  • Thanks OP. I was after these!

Wiki here with more Ozbargain users referral/discount codes. OP I've added yours too.

  • This remembered me that I didn't get my previous order received from them yet. Checked all the messages from them in email and realized they have sent an email asking to verify my credit card. They want to be done to verify international credit cards. I tried both the options they have given to verify my card and even by allowing them to charge another $2 transaction. Nothing worked and they have cancelled my order as well. Some items in my previous order are no longer available. So I tried a new order. Let's see at least this one could get through.

  • Thx OP. I normally do my supplements shopping at chemist warehouse and discount vita. But this seems to be better value

4000IU is dangerous for you (though not sure if thats due to the sun or the actual vitamine produced) but there is a big question mark here. 5000IU is alot, but with vitamin D you can store it up.

    • please check your facts instead of spouting out nonsense.

I'm not going to re-educate you, just go read up on FACTS about Vitamin D instead of scandal.

Also, Vitamin has no E on the end.

According to your logic if 4000 is dangerous then 5000 is deadly…great misinformation there.

And when you say the body will store it, hell yeah as it's cumulative in the system which is why you only take a 5000iu cap every 3 days. Too much vitamin D is considered as toxicity.

Go outside? Well, a lot of people over 50 don't have the LANOLIN in their skin to produce vitamin D AT ALL.

Further, it can only be produced by a short spectrum of sunlight that is typically available between roughly midday and 2pm.

Great to see mostly rubbish opinion here or "I heard somewhere" rather than facts.

        Some additional info.

Vitamin D toxicity only occurs at around 10,000 UI+ and requires sustained use over several weeks/months; which will result in "Hypervitaminosis D".

Dosages of 10,000 UI have been recorded and studied with no adverse affects even after multiple days

Also, you cannot get Vitamin D toxicity from sun exposure due to the nature of the process.

Basically, with the current daily recommended UI being 1,000 (up from 400UI a short time ago) it is likely that it will be revised upward again in the near future. Taking dosages of 1,000-4,000 will not do you any harm.

To actually "poison" yourself with Vitamin D requires a dosage in excess of 300,000 UI in 24 hours.

      • Also why do you believe people over 50 don't have the LANOLIN in their skin?

No humans have lanolin in their skin, lanolin is what sheep/llamas/alpacas produce.

It is exclusive to wool bearing animals.

  • I got the dark chocolate stevia, wonder what else to use it in apart from coffee. the other flavours were not on special.

  • Very impressed, ordered Friday at 1:30 and package was delivered Monday 2pm by DHL Express. will order from them again.

    • How do you pay this guy. My second attempt to order from this place also didn't work.

      • Don't they accept Amex. I replied to them in the email they asked me to verify my credit card. Still no reply from them.

      • Paid using credit card, first order and I had no problems.

        • Did you get an email asking you to verify your credit card? I got that and after following their options there is no way to complete that process as no matter what you enter it gives an error.

        • No. Just ordered and an hour later it was shipped.

  • May be it's only me trying to use the Amex card to pay and having this issue. I will try to reorder and pay with Master card and see what happens.

    • Well I know Mastercard and Visa do work. Good luck

      • I didn't have to order. When I checked my credit card online statement, I can see the amount in the statement and it's still pending. They have charged $2 and then refunded the same in order to verify the card. There was an international transaction fee charged for that as well. However when I was trying to follow the steps to verify the card on their web site it kept giving me an error "The amount captured is not valid!". I hope it has done the verification even though the site gave only errors. Hope my order will get delivered this time. Fingers crossed.
