Cheap to run printer/scanner/copy with WiFi or Ethernet preferably laser

The topic says it all. I am looking for a cheap all in one solution. I just purchased the MX436 for 50.- but the running costs are killing me.

I print on average around 100 pages a month, should be more soon. Even at this low capacity the inkjet is financially not bearable.

Should not cost too much.

Ideal would be a laser AIO color with WiFi

I assume you are buying your ink cheap off of ebay or somewhere, and not paying $25 for brand name ink?

The ink for my brother printer works out to around $1-$2 per cartridge.

  • Well, the problem is that i just moved to Australia from Austria and have no idea yet about the real deals here. I did buy some refill kit on eBay which was supposed to include manuals and instructions but it didn't so i have thought just to get some other printer.

Any idea where i can get for exactly this printer cheap cartridges or proper refills?
    thanks

Jesus, just checked ebay for you.
It looks like your printer doesn't have easily obtainable 3rd party ink cartridges.

Method to ensure a printer you're looking at (Before you buy!), has 3rd party ink.
      1) Look it up on the manufacturer's website (Canon)
      2) Find it's consumables link
      3) Grab the ink part number and search it up on ebay.
In your case, it looks like your black ink is PG-640, and it looks like from the below search.. only refill kits exist
      http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_sop=15&_sacat=0&_from=R40…
If I were you, I'd chuck out the goddamn printer you have, and find a printer with existing 3rd party ink.

The normal price for each 3rd party ink cartridge is around $2.50 to $5, depending where it is being sent from.

Currently, I use the Epson NX430, the cartridges cost me $2.50 each (eBay, Seller from China), and I can print 200 pages on a single black ink cartridge.
Epson has recently rebadged their printers (EXACTLY the same functions, with a new "series" name), and as such, the 3rd party inks do exist, but aren't as cheap as the older generation of Epson printers.

Just make sure with inkjets, you print at least once every week or every fortnight. If you go one month without using the printer at all, there is a very high chance the nozzles will clog from ink drying up.

Here is a link for you to see prices of the ink cartridges if you do decide to go with an Epson:

      • Hi Cwongtech,

I want to buy Epson NX430 following your advise but can't seem to find any retailer that sell it. Would you be able to shed some light on where to buy it from? Thanks

  • I would expect to pay $300 ish.. for something with those specs.
If you could live without built in wifi it would save a lot.
I recommend these guys… usually best price and good service..

As for brand for reliability, build quality and cheap online refills… Fuji Xerox :-)

    • That is just a printer, OP also needs a scanner
