The Golden Bean is Australia's premier coffee roasting competition, and the event attracted entries of more than 1100 coffees in twelve categories. ALDI was the only supermarket to receive an award.

    I'll try these beans for sure - my last bag of 1kg beans from Aldi is just about gone. I grind & aeropress in the office and get consistent brews - nothing extraordinary but certainly beats the all cafes within about 750m of my office!

      me too (grind, aeropress, 750m radius). except I have been buying from other Ozb deals rather than Aldi. manna beans, safari roasters, etc. All the people around my area in the office with nespresso machines still pop their heads up over partitions whenever I'm making an aeropress coffee with freshly ground beans.

        Aldi can't beat Manna Beans and other roasters.

        And it is very sad story that none of local cafes can beat Aldi.

          True enough! I'm in a black spot for cafes - that said there are some really great coffees to be had in the 800-1200m range from my office … if I get desperate :-)

      If it brews a half-decent coffee, I won't be turning my nose up at $15 for a kilo.

      Swank factor can get stuffed, I'm all about balancing quality and price.
