    • I just received a phone call. The lady was apologizing for the delay and said that my Downtown should be ready for collection in 3 days time.

  • They have 2 of the uptown available at HN in Bendigo and the price is $64. (Brown grey, 1 in box and 1 on mannequin.)

    Bah, ordered fine last week, got a call today saying they wouldn't fulfill.

    First time buying from Harvey Norman, can't say I'm impressed.

    • I got told they are a discontinued item and therefore can't fulfill. Make of that what you will.

      • Yup, just called Wiley Park store, lady said refund due to IT error. Bloody hell, staff all took it to re-sell. Not happy HN.

        • how do you know they are reselling? This dealing doesn't sound legit. My one's at Wiley Park as well.

        • They seem to be very inconsistent, perhaps its due to their franchise structure. Neos (posted above) and I received no calls, but an email saying the order has been "delayed" and its on backorder. While quite a few people here got calls instead, or have called HN, with responses such as yours.

          Therefore, what is going on? Does each store have a different method of managing these orders?

        • We should do something, get TodayTonight or CurrentAffairs to do some background check on these franchise.

  • There are so many pricks on gumtree selling this headphones.

  • Just picked up my grey downtowns from CityWest in Perth, they have so much staff in different sections and nobody knows anything unless its for that department, they must get paid some sort of commission as i had 2 or 3 staff members try to "help" me look for the headphones.

    finally found somebody who actually listened to what i was saying, all other staff were trying to put it as a new order,i go look i ordered online on Sunday the website showed this store having stock, i rang Monday to make sure you had stock, you did, she kept umming and arrring going do you know who you spoke with… until i go i have order confirmation email, instant i said that she looked at email on my phone went out back came back in 2secs and walked out the door with them, it was not the tax invoice email either that came later today after picking them up.

    yeah with a deal like this i was not going to wait around for someone to call me,plus i had traveled all way from Freo to CityWest and was told day before that my order was fine and could pick them up she could tell i was not going anywhere until it had been sorted

    • A woman from HN Wiley park called today to inform that I won't be able to get my headphones and will get a refund. It is inconsistent on the fact that you got an email and I got a phone call.

  • I don't know how I feel exactly, I ordered some uptowns from belmont WA on saturday night. Didn't hear about it and didn't chase it up on sunday (that was a mistake, I'll chase it up immediately in future).

    Spoke to the manager on monday, he told me they never even had them in stock in the first place, which was a blatant lie because I spoke to daveaus in this thread who mentioned that he picked some up from there.

    Anyway, I decided to wait and see what happened because they said they were going to get some for me. I got offered some downtowns instead so I decided to go for it (last in the store apparently). They aren't as high specced as the uptowns, and I think I'd have preferred the over-ear ones instead of the on-ear like downtown. They seem ok but I do think they lack some thump in the bottom end. They are just a spare pair for listening to while on the move. I have a pair of m50s for listening at work and they are a lot better, the downtowns seem comfortable so far but I'm not sure I could wear them for hours like I can with the m50s.

    Anyway, a reasonable result in the end I suppose, not what I had hoped. I think I might send in a complaint about the whole process and the fact that I think I was lied to though.

  • Picked mine up from Chirnside Park in Vic this arvo, ordered black, but was offered grey or the display black. Went for the black cos they are hawt and the helpful dude claimed they have only been out for a couple of weeks and the kids only want to try the beats anyway. Was consistent with their condition so I was happy.

    Got the call today that they want to refund me. (Wiley Park)

    • same as mine. how did others get delayed but ours was refunded?? I hate Harvey Norman

      • i called them and told them not to cancel the order as I'm going to complain to fair trading.

        Probably wont get anywhere, but a bit of extra work for them.

        And leaving the order open, if they order any new stock within the next month or so (that's how long a compliant takes to get resolved), ill be able to grab one.

        They kept saying that they wont be ordering any more in, but who knows

        Ive just spoken to Harvey Norman Wiley Park

        He said that they have a backorder with a long waiting time and he wasnt sure why someone was emailing telling us that they will refund the order

        I told him im happy to wait and emailed back [email protected] telling them not to cancel the order

        • Man this is all confusing. I would have happily waited for the uptowns if they'd have told me they would be on backorder at my local shop. Do you have any more information that I can use at my local so that I might be able to swap the downtowns for some uptowns?

        • I got their call one or two days ago. I hope they haven't proceeded refunding. I just emailed to them, and will make a complaint to the Fair Trading. I reckon if we get enough people making the complaint, they will recognise this and take action. Harvey Norman is really inconsistent and deceiving.

        • Just got a call about half an hour ago on them offering Sony MDR V55's as a replacement. Which retailed at $150 at HV, can be found for $50+ though at other stores. Still a reasonable discount, but still I wanted the Uptowns!

          Not sure what to do now.

  • I just received my Uptown from QV Melbourne yesterday. It was back ordered by delayed due to not enough stocks. It still hold the sticker of RRP 178AUD and the bass wasn't so great but it is a nice piece of head phone and comfortable.

  • I ordered on Saturday and received a call from the Hoppers Crossing store today telling me they were out of stock but they are going to upgrade to the Uptown's for the same price. I accepted that but I already have a pair of those.

    • Does your invoice say Uptown or Downtown? Mine says Downtown though they gave me Uptown. Wondering if this going to be a problem if need to use the warranty some day?

  • For those who arranged for store pickup from QV (Melbourne):

    • First orders have now been fulfilled, and they got stock transferred into them from country stores
    • Later orders are not yet fulfilled, but they've planned to get more stock in. Be patient!

    So overall it looks like QV really went out of their way to help customers (bravo).

    The person I spoke to said that the offer should never have made it online and, surprise surprise, it caused them a lot of headaches.

    • HN at QV Melbourne said they had 30 orders and only 1 in stock, which they sold over the weekend. They managed to get more from around the country. Saw two people pick up their headphones yesterday. So, well done to HN at QV Melbourne for going out of their way.

        They are not going out of their way, they are just doing their jobs. Its the other Harvey Norman who doesnt even bother with doing their jobs. Customers orded based on the fact that they are showing they have stock, the HN charged the customers credit cards making the sale. QV just didnt wiggle their way out of it.

    I placed an order online and picked one up from store due to the delay for my online order.
    And now I got the confirmation of my online order ready to pick it up. But since I picked up one in store I don't need another on
    If anyone interesting to buy it from me it's grey downtown for $22 (original price) , I am happy to sell it to him or I will call them to cancel my order and refund me my money

  • I was told I will be refunded on Wednesday regarding the Uptowns I bought but today received a call from HN Wiley Park to pickup the Uptowns. Just picked it up. Great looking set for $22.

      • I made a complain on their website on Wednesday. Maybe that's why they tried to source one for me although I was told that it was an IT error and my payment will be refunded. Just call them up and ask to speak to someone in the computer department. The manager at the computer department there deals with this particular headphone issue at Wiley Park. Hope this helps.

        It does seem like a pretty decent set of cans. For 22 bucks, can't really see how you can complain.

        • I agree, they are decent, and I am being picky and such. I still prefer the Uptowns though, as it's over the ear style.

          Furthermore, its HVs inconsistency that gets to me. But yes, good price still, although $150 is way over the real market price.

          got offered the V55's too (only in white). took it up in the end as there was no point arguing for uptowns (that they didn't have) - the other option is a refund. although keep me posted if you do get an uptown =D

    I had some great news, ive ordered to pick from Wiley park and recieved a phone call 2 days later to refund my order. But 3 days later another staff member offered to give me the sony v55 which I was happy to get. Sounds great but when collect today. They screwed my order so they offered me the beats as replacement!! Hell yeah. So after a short wait and a bit of stuffing around I get a better product

  • picked up mine today in Bondi. Im not sure if its a new piece or been used (display). But they had only that one. The guy was saying you are very lucky to get this!!
    But great great headphone(downtown).

    After the initial order confirmation email on the 31st Aug I was worrying about my order being cancelled after reading this thread, but I received a tax invoice yesterday afternoon and the order was delivered around 10 this morning. So some stock is still being delivered.

  • Got a call yesterday and got left a voice message telling me I could pick up the uptowns from Wiley park. This is after they first they would refund and then try offered the Sony v55's a few days later and then now like a week later they said I can pick up the uptowns.

    I just got a call from Harvey Norman Wiley Park that I could pick the Philips Downtown and need the tax invoice. But that was never sent to me! Only the confirmation letter and Paypal receipt. So what do I do? How did everyone get compensation?

      Please bring any photo ID card with you.

      I picked mine up just showed them order confirmation email from my phone as my printer broke down at that time,

      The email I received states that I just need the order number OR tax invoice, photo id and credit card (does not apply to Paypal Transactions).

        • I just got my headphones. I was suppose to get the white but got the grey instead. Can't complain.
          Also, it seem strange that the Apple earphone sounds better than this headphones despite of the price. The earphone sounds way better. Beats Philips by a mile…and the fact that its a headphone.

  • I called Coburg HN yesterday, they said that two are on back order and one is mine which should be in next week sometime. Any one else buying from Coburg?

    • Uptown is out of stock from the supplier and is no longer on back order. I talked to the staff at Coburg and I told them that others here were receiving the Sony v55's and they matched it, so although not the Uptown's that I ordered, still happy that they looked after me.

    Ordered uptowns online 31/8 -4 weeks later emailed HN to check where my order was (common occurrence with my online orders at HN Belmont WA)
    Was emailed to be told I would be contacted in 24 hours (yeah sure)
    Rang the store on 26/9 was told mine was in a backorder of 4
    Got an email 4/10 telling me my order was ready for pickup..Yay!
    Went to pick up late on 10/10…surprise, surprise..downtowns were offered..pointed out I ordered uptowns and was told someone had tried to contact me to say they weren't available ..Funny that was the same line I was given with my previous order..anyway more BS cos no calls or voicemail from HN recorded on my mobile.
    Rang back today and was told I bought them off Ozbargains site and that it wasn't an advertised offer..like it was my fault WTF? and I could have downtowns or a refund..explained Sony headphones offered by other stores but nothing doing at HN Belmont..Told them I would take it up with Fair Trading..Received paypal refund this arvo and email from HN thanking me for my business

    That's the last time I step foot into HN Belmont WA (did you get that?) and encourage others to also stay away

    Gerry Harvey, why is it that I can place an order on Amazon, buy a product at half your price and receive it from US in a week? No hassles…and you wonder why your franchisees gets overlooked..
