$299 5" HD BAUHN Dual-SIM Quad-Core Smartphone Running JB 4.2

50

Not sure if it's a deal or not given the repriced $249/$299 8GB/16GB 4.7" Nexus 4 with 2GB of RAM. Still, this one will out soon so there will be some discussion. Might as well start it here. This one's specs look remarkably similar to a THL W8/W200 available for ~$200 though that one gets you China warranty.

  • umm…price.

    edit: rectified

  • +2

would be a deal if it's a 4G. The specs and brand arent great for the price.

  • +3

would be good it is 229

wait for it to flop and be on discount at stores..

    • This won't flop, they will be all bought up by people who are not phone price savvy

      • +1

Those not savvy will buy it and their tech friends show them a Nexus 4G for $249 and back she goes under the 60-day return policy. Then Aldi will drop the price to ~$229 where I'd consider it.

@$299 Aldi are dreamin' bit profits.

I'd definitely go the Nexus 4 instead at $250… Google aren't replenishing stocks, so get in quick folks

Cortex A7? Yeah…no. Definitely go for the Nexus 4 over this.

  • 5 inches in your pocket, belongs in your pants. Imagine trying to walk around with that long chunky slab of glass and plastic in your pocket. Don't even try to bend down. Bad things could happen.

    • I have a 5" phone I carry around in my pants pocket and its no problem. I tend to wear pretty slim pants too. As long as you're not wearing those nasty tight tights you're fine. That is assuming you're a dude. If you're a dudette, you have your purse/handbag etc.

Price isn't great for the specs. It's basically another stock standard Chinaphone which you can get anywhere online with free shipping sub-$250. I won't neg it since if it gets broken or comes doa you have local stores to take back to.

      • Even 5.5"is not a problem for me at all. It depends on how tall you are.

At least someone in the pants will have company.

UTMS isnt 3G is it? wcdma is usually 3g - so not even any 3g?

  • Wow, that looks 90% like my galaxy s2

    • in terms of CPU, yes

      • +1

a7s are newer than a9's, the a7s are lower power but still fairly decent performance, a15 is the new generation performance chip.

just saying the A7s arent that bad, and good- cause they use less battery.

        • Yes, A7 is indeed newer than A9. Most people mistake this. However, it is true that A9 offers greater performance. The only thing A7 has going is that is uses less battery for minimal drop in performance.

  • you could get a higher spec chinese mob for a lot less than this e.g. Jiayu G4

or for the nearly half the price get this-

The phone you linked to is only 854x480, with same processor etc. i.e lower spec than the Bauhn. (it's also not a Jiayu G4)
The Jiayu G4 is basically the same spec. as the Bauhn and is on Geekbuying (for example) at USD252.99:
      http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Jiayu-G4-MTK6589-Quad-core-4-…
This is not much saving after exchange rate and you don't have local warranty.

…moral of the story is: buy a Nexus 4 instead.

      • i suggested 2 options. Jiayu G4 or other phone for nearly half price + link.

I'll suggest a 3rd option which is my current phone and is chugging away nicely -

        • Oh right. I missed the "or" from your post. In reality most of the super cheap dual core phones like your current one are more than sufficient for most people.

        • Their current one is a '4.7" HAIPAI I9389 Quad Core MT6589 1.2GHz Android 4.2', not a dual core?

        • I bought a HAIPAI I9389 MT6589 (Quad Core )

      • I have this S7189. I am impressed with the build quality given the price. You wont go wrong with this phone. Ebay is selling it for $250 in Australia. Ps. I was the OP for the link. I have been using it for 2 days and quite happy with it.

  • I've just recently received a Tronsmart TS7(as described here). In terms of specs, the Tronsmart is equal or higher in every way (apart from screen size & built in storage) and is half the price.

As said above, needs a price drop top ~$200-220 before even considering.
