Web site still down, but I have found a great bargain! Slazenger website have a sale on. Up to 70% off clothing. Minimum spend $20 with free delivery & returns. Got something for the whole family…trackys for boys and mens are nice and thick(6.88 for mens I think). The girls "skot" are 4.88 from $15. Its a skirt which has sewn in briefs so girls can do cartwheels without flashing!! Hope this helps :))

I was one of the first people in on the deal. They refunded my order which would have to be the first 10.
All orders will be cancelled guaranteed.
I got in early, ordered 6 different items and they have now cancelled my order and will refund…not happy. Supposedly getting a $20 gift card.
Althought I made two orders.
I made a $100 order for 7 mens shirts. They were $10 - $15 each. That order was not cancelled.
Got the same email. Damn. I think my effort last night was to some degree justified by the $20 gift card. Instead of two $5 unwanted clothes (two jumpers worth well over $20 though), I can use the $20 on something I really want.
I don't understand why companies organise a sale, only to later backflip on the sale? A clear waste of time on both ends really.
If you try really really hard, maybe you can understand that it was a major pricing stuff up rather than a backflip on intended sale prices.
That was pretty obvious from the start even though we were all hopeful the prices would be honoured.

I only purchased one item and it was within 30 minutes of this deal being posted but I still got the email. I don't think anyone will be getting their items.

So technically no payment should have gone through because nothing has been packed and sent. However I just checked my paypal account and both payments have been processed. So now I have to wait for my refunds.
I told this to the person I spoke to at Amart and she said they are processing refunds today. I asked her if all orders from last night will be cancelled and she said "pretty much".
This is a very expensive stuff up, and someone will most definitely be loosing their job. Just say 1000 orders were successful, and they all do receive their $20.00 gift card. Well, that is $20,000 out of pocket for 4 hours. Add mailing costs, the cost of the gift card, and whatnot. Let's say $22,000.
Minimum. There could have been more, maybe less. But still an expensive day for an eCommerce business.
Their rrp mark up is min. 100% so I don't think $20 gift card each for all cancel led orders will hurt them at all. Its quite the opposite really.

This deal has had 13,000 clicks. Assuming 1,000 people bought stuff and the markup is 100%, what if that 1,000 people bought a $20 item each with their gift card?
That's a loss of $10,000, plus the cost of labour and postage required to send all those cards out.
If giving away $20 gift cards definitely made them money, why wouldn't they just do that all the time? It would attract a LOT of attention and they'd be moving tons of stock quickly.
By giving out the gift cards, it gives incentive for motivating people to shop at their stores. This is a marketing expense they have to pay and in return you will be paying their RRP which has huge mark up. What makes you think the magic number $20 come from? They are pretty smart to turn this chaos into an opportunity in order to gain marketing exposure to attract the general public to shop at their stores.
Without having the gift cards, I would have never set foot in their stores in the first place. Obviously, you have no clue of how a retail business work.

When I refer to the public, the public covers all shoppers not just Ozb. You also miss my point. We are never on the same page so to speak.

So tell me, if they don't lose any money by giving away $20 coupons, why don't they do it all the time? They would attract way more buyers and can make money by selling in volume.
Or are they concerned that too many people would just buy $20 items, or several low-margin items, making them lose money in the end?
$20 off a $250 pair of shoes isn't a big discount.
But $20 off a $25 tshirt is a big discount. Don't forget labour costs too.
Since you claim to be an expert in retail businesses, why don't you start a sports store and give away $20 coupons to everyone? You'll be making money after all.

Yeah. Reminded me of the Rays Outdoors deal posted a while ago. Also since shutting down the online stores (both rebel and amart), they aren't generating online sales at all today :/
They gained 1000+ customers. I dont think theyre complaining too hard and I doubt anyone is loosing their job.
I doubt anyone would lose their job either, but gaining 1000 customers and gaining 1000 ozbargainers who don't like paying full price are two different things. ;)

I placed 2 orders, 1 for 3 shirts ($45 order, 3x Nike running shirts), then another when I realised if I'm going to start running again I'd better get some sports socks so the second order was for 3 pairs of Adidas socks for $9.
Now I am awaiting 2 x $20 gift cards. I'm not complaining, I'll probably order exactly the same thing and with $40 discount probably pay the same amount.

I received my 2 refunds this afternoon however they both say "Status: Pending Friday 13 September". So technically I don't have my refund yet!
What annoys me the most is that paypal payments should not have been processed at all as they knew they were not supplying any of the orders.

They do not. It is Amart Only confirmed by manager of gift cards at Rebel Group.
The cards are stackable for online transactions. Only 2 per transaction though. Only on Amartsport.com.au and not redeemable in Rebel Retail stores or Rebel online.
Strange…. I read T&Cs on Amarts website and it states use for rebel stores, instore and online. Unless they did a cut and paste job from the rebel website without replacing Rebel with Amart

The payment stated refund was ordered back on Tuesday listing refund pending for Thursday, yet it's Sunday and still no refund?
For electronic transactions, they sure are making if seem like they still ship money around on a stagecoach.
