yep, a 3.5" hdd needs external power.

I have the 640gig version of this (or at least the casing is the same, and it's supposed to be WD inside too XD). Might well consider this one as an upgrade! :) And yeah, like Davo1111 says, looks like a 3.5" external.

Hmmmm. $175 (delivered) for a 1TB WD in a generic case is OK, but not great IMHO when you consider that the WD MyBook Essential 1TB occasionally comes down to $179 at OW / HN etc'.
\_/7Bought one of these in the past, had to send back for power unit replacement on it because of continuous delay write issues…if I had my time again, definitely worth paying a little extra for the WD elements…
it's like $10 more for a proper named brand HDD. I'd rather spend the $10 and get a little more quality.
I'm assuming this needs external power to work - cannot be powered simply by USB?
