ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

      • Not entirely true. I'm using an old 512mb G210M GPU in my 5 year old Pentium laptop and I can comfortably play slightly older 3D games like Dead Space on low/mid settings. I consider the HD4000 to be a substantial upgrade in performance.

        • +1

Coops and wolfenator87, your comments are in regards to the inbuilt graphics HD4000, not the discrete Nvidia GT 740 M option, right? It appears the 740 M would perform okay.

        • -1

I am referring to the gt 740m…… http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GT+740….

This is a great Lappy for Internet/email/word processing. It is not a gaming laptop where you would get an enjoyable experience, eg reasonable FPS in Bf3 on low settings. As I said great for candy crush.

        • +1

game debate still shows that the 740M is capable of playing GTA 5, watch dogs and AC4 (using estimated system requirements)

  • +1

OP, can you edit your post with 2.8% Qwibble cashback or Starthere(for those who has higher cashback rate with Starthere) so that ppl don't forget it? I forgot to use Qwibble and have placed new order using Qwibble :)

    • i tried with quibble. negates the previous coupon and quibble does'nt work either.

      • I used qwibble and still can apply the coupon :)

  • We all hope they will honor it… but secretly know that they probably won't…

still, it's good fun trying, and occasionally they do work..many thanks OP!

  • very good deal,
but really can't think of any reason buying a laptop/PC in my situation
rather to spend same amount of money on Tablet/The new iPad (not the The New iPad but The New Ipad3/3s/4)

  • Just noticed that my CC has been charged. I paid via CC.

    • has anyone else had the FULL amount charged to their CC yet? Did you also get a $1 pending deduction?

      • Yup. Was charged the $1 this morning and the rest this afternoon. They can still reverse stuff though but it's a good sign.

        • I didn't place my order until this afternoon, but in my hastiness I realised there wasn't enough money in the account to cover the full amount so I quickly transferred sufficient funds over from my savings acccount(but this was a few hours after the order was placed). Hope I don't get charged a dishonour fee. I've got like $400 sitting in my PP account but their website is so broken and wouldn't accept it.

      • Yes, full amount authorised to mine now, and status "Released to Manufacturing".

I thought the $1 was for the earbuds, which were RTM while laptop was still "Order Received".

      • I have been charged a pending full amount on my CC with that Paypal checkout that produced an error.

  • +2

Please note that ticking artic blue will yield an artic blue laptop.

  • Had to buy a E531 with the earbuds as well. $336 delivered is pretty damn good for a business quality notebook. Thanks to the OP.

    • +2

Absolutely. If this deal goes through I would gladly buy the OP a beer! [Don't want to overdo it given this is Ozbargain of course :-) ]

      • +4

I would gladly buy the OP a beer!

I would gladly shout the OP to an Alibaba Kebab :p or a Big Mac

        • +1

I would happily shout the OP Subway with my 2 for 1 shop-a-docket voucher.

  • maybe a stupid question:does it feature touch screen? Talking about E531.

    • +1

      no

    • +5

no, it has a hybrid halographic liquid electron plasma display screen

  • +3

For some strange reason I can get a price for the E330 with i3-3120M for $335.62 if you order through their Affinity site with the code AFFDEALS.

Does not work though if you have not previously logged in via their Affinity site.

Just FYI if someone still wants to order through the Affinity site and save another $10. :)

    http://i.imgur.com/3fBdPTN.jpg for proof :P

  • while placing order there was an option to subscribe to their special offers to get 10% off from next order.

Anyone tried. Does it work ?

Might be useful for people buying more than 1.

    • Ordered this morning before 9am and opted in hoping to get the extra 10% off next order to buy another.
Yet to receive any special promos.
However, I suspect the 10% off special offer will be in a form of discount code so may not be stackable with the discount code given here.

  • thanks OP bought the e3330 was looking for a smaller screen laptop for uni! cheers :)

  • I have a pre auth for $335.7, they can still reverse it though…

  • +1

Picked up a E351! Thanks OP!

Realistically, does anyone think that they'll go through?

    Here's hoping.

    • +2

It's been up a long time now, and many people have bought so it will have been noticed, and it's still live…(and this is Lenovo, not some small shop where people turn off for the weekend).
Several people appear to have questioned it with the Lenovo livechat people and had it confirmed as correct.
      No chance. :-))

      • +1

It's surprising it hasn't been taken down yet. But I'd still be surprised if they honoured it.

  • PayPal status is still pending, so should I wait?

Tried Paypal on 7 occasions logged out and into a Lenovo account. No luck.

        • By the look of it they approve only e531 (Released to manufacturing). Edge E330 still processing. Will wait and see.

  • +1 just for the $1 noise cancelling headphones!

  • Damn, ordered in the morning before heading out. Didn't know about the earbuds. Oh well, didn't need them anyway so a dollar saved I guess.

This thing is gonna fit perfectly in my Everki Flight bag

    • +7

i was going to order the e330. then i looked at my everki bag sitting next to the computer desk, and changed to a e531 instead

      • same here..

  • when I log in my account and check the order details, it pops up

"Our apologies, there was an error in the system. Please try again. If the error persists, please contact Lenovo."

  • 13197 clicks.. How many laptops have you guys bought.. How many laptops do you think Lenovo has in stock…
Does the website update the stock until it runs out.. Little hope of getting my Lappy now… :D

What if they run out of stock and say we will give you cash back or we will offer a different laptop.. just like dell did with their $9 printer. :) Oh boy its gonna be the best bargain this year after that phillips shaver i bought for $19 which i dont use :)

    • +1

these are made to order. So stocks are not issues unless they run out of components to build.

    • +1

not everyone who clicked the link bought one

      • +5

Not everyone who bought clicked the link

  • Bought the E531! Hope I'm not too late :p

  • How come the FHD screen is $176 cheaper than HD screen?

It doesn't make sense. The deal is so good and makes me want to buy one, too.

    • +6

what are u waiting for ??

      hit that order button

    • +4

Doesn't need to make sense as long as it's cheap : )

    • +3

Yes Mate, go ahead and hit the Purchase Button.

  • I want this laptop for Europe. the price is almost double on their site and no discount on blue color.
    http://shop.lenovo.com/de/de/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/e3…

    any suggestions?

    • +4

      Move to Australia ;-)

  • -1

I don't understand comments re HD vs FHD screen. I see both options as 1366x768 for the E330.
Definitely a good deal - but I bought the Acer V5 when on special at MSY.

    • +1

HD vs FHD is for the E531.

  • I guess its a clearance sale but you got to wonder how many they had in stock.

  • If you've read the book "World is flat" he describes the laptop sales process, where for example a laptop with a 500 GB hard disk might be very close like a dollar or two to a 300 Gb hard disk , because of supply chain issues, shortage of 300 GB disks, assembly line/ supplier issues etc.

So it is not completely unthinkable that Lenovo would offer a better screen at a lower cost, not directly logical but it could very well be honoured.
Let's wait and watch.. Hope We won't be Koganed.

  • Amazon, Kogan and now lenovo. wonder which one next week. Thanks OP.

  • Does anyone know if it can combine with the education discount?

    • Looks like it can't.

  • There's a chance it's genuine…
Specs and prices very similar to the Centrecom Acer deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116217

Also, when you think about it, prices before upgrading to FHD are not that good… When you look at the models, best bargains are on the low end i3 models… Upgrade to i7 and to NVidia dedicated graphics and you end up with a machine the same price as the similarly specced Dell Inspiron Special Edition

It's not as if the laptops were $1, prices while good are realistic if they want to offload their previous generation (non Haswell) components

    • +1

Specs and prices very similar to the Centrecom Acer deal

but without the $1 earphones (RRP $100).
and to many of us, a FHD screen makes a big difference :D

      • guess we'll see lots of noise-cancelling headphones on ebay in a few days time

      • Yeah but the Acer i3 got 750Gb hard drive and dedicated NVidia

But yeah FHD is great, that's why I bought the Lenovo and not the Centrecom one ;)

      • These had usb 2.0 and not all varieties had bluetooth

  • Just spoke to lenovo rep at live chat who is quite certain of this is genuine

    • +12

Similar to the twiter from kogan

  • Anyone having problems paying with Paypal? Got a message "We are processing your cart. Please wait." for 5 minutes now.

Edit: 5 minutes later, got another message in red text "PayPal is unable to accept your order at this time. Please contact PayPal or choose another payment type."

    • yes, 3 times. paid via cc instead.

  • another one on gumtree… The ad says 20 available!! must be broden!!

  • Placed an order for core i3 E531 for 337 (including $1 ear phones). Many thanks to the OP.
Hopefully I will get it delivered within 3 weeks. Then I can claim the TRS as well.

  • Thanks OP ordered a E531 for $336 with the earbuds….

  • ahhh, i forgot to buy with qwibble 2.8% rebate … hope this order is genuine and doesnt fall apart like the X1 carbon when it 1st release.

    • Yeah, I didn't remember starthere either. But if the offer is genuine, I'll be kicking myself more for not ordering more than one E531s. I've got 3 kids in school now, two more heading there. Although they'll be all wanting Apple stuff, stupid school.
Anyway, my credit card was charged this afternoon. But like people have said here, it's not a guarantee that they couldn't still cancel the whole thing.

      • +6

Need to convert more school principles and IT managers to this site, to see how much further their school funding can go…

        • Tell me about it… They just lately replaced 3 year old MacBooks with MacBook Airs, not to mention getting new iPad Minis this weeks, only a few weeks or months before the next model is going to be released. I reckon I should just stop paying the school fees. My main issue though is really that what's the actual percentage of people who'll be able to do all of their professional work using an Apple computer in 10-20 years from now. My gut feeling is that at least 60-80% will anyway be forced to use Windows-based PCs at work. Nothing against Apple though, and I reckon the current MacBook Airs are actually pretty good value for money! But still, you could get 3 or 4 of these "OzBargain Education Specials"! for the price of one of them.

        • the actual percentage of people who'll be able to do all of their professional work using an Apple computer in 10-20 years from now

100%? ;) One positive for the Mac is being able to easily run both Windows (using Bootcamp) and OS X natively on the same machine. You can't legally or easily do that on a Windows-based PC (Hackintoshing is not an acceptable solution for professionals). As an architect/designer who frequently encounters both Mac-only and Windows-only workplaces, it's a big reason why my on-the-go computer is a MacBook Pro.

Not trying to start a Mac/PC flamewar; my main desktop is a Windows-only workstation and I like to consider myself platform neutral. :)

  • Already have a DELL XPS 13 with i7, 8gb RAM, intel hd 4000 gpu..

But want something portable to game on, as well as to game on when I'm home (FIFO).

Would the E531 + GT740M for $470 be a good buy, or should i save my money and invest in a quality desktop to game at home, and just not game when I'm away from home?

    Thanks any comments appreciated..

    • +2

The latter for sure. The E531 is not really meant to be for gaming. You get put together a really good gaming desktop for about AUD700 (not including monitor)

      • Okay thanks mate. HArd to resist though when its such a discount. But I already have an XPS 13 ultrabook.. kinda pointless having 2 laptops.. haha.

Portable gaming would be good though, but oh well!

    • +1

I guess it depends on how serious you are about gaming! :)

The 740M should play most current games at medium settings at 1080P, but will struggle with new releases over the next year, particularly when we start to see Xbox One and PS4 games being ported to Windows.

I think a good benchmark for selecting a graphics card for gaming is that it at least matches the Xbox One/PS4 — the only mobile cards that currently meet that requirement are the 670MX, 770M, 675MX (those three cards are great overclockers), 680M, 780M, 7970M, 8970M. Those cards all come in significantly more expensive/bigger/heavier laptops, though.

As Souljarh said, you'll be able to put together a very capable gaming desktop for about $700 and up.

Anyone else read this article. http://www.zdnet.com/lenovo-introduces-thinkpad-s431-thinkpa…

Go to the bottom of page

    Lenovo Thinkpad E-series manufacturing delays
Lenovo has delayed manufacture of Thinkpad Edge E-series citing supply chain issues. The delays beginning in May are predicted to persist at least 6 weeks, possibly more. It is known that Intel has delayed delivery of Haswell i5 quad core and some i7 processors. However, the Lenovo delays involve even their base models using i3-2xxx processors which are not impacted by Intel issues.

  • Wow with that many people positives……..i feel like getting one! Eventhough i dont know what to do with it! Lol!

  • +4

the order confirmation email says my Customer Number is: AU00000001.

    mildly interesting.

    • yeh mine and many others if not all lol.

    • Same here, that is the guest check out number. You will have a unique order number.
