  • 4GB of ROM? Is there a default blueray movie on there?

    • +1

Battery life is the big plus here, full specs here: http://www.gsmarena.com/lenovo_p780-5544.php

      • if u use both sims u'll need it.

    • Nope. Comes with bootleg SNES multicart from China including duplicates.

    • +2

External Micro SD cards are pretty cheap these days. Its better than buying a 16GB iphone for $700.
I am sure they can put a movie in there if you fancy.

  • How is 3G working with Optus ?

    • +1

Optus works on 2100 frequency for 3G. Will work well.
Wont work with Vodafone I guess as they work on some other frequency. Please do check.

      3G

There are several 3G networks operating in Australia. 3G frequencies are usually specified as UMTS/HSDPA or WCDMA frequencies on the mobile phone specifications.

      Australian 3G bands:
      •850MHz (Telstra, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band
•900MHz (Optus, Vodafone) – available in most metro areas on Optus, with both Optus and Vodafone re-farming the 2G 900 spectrum in regional and rural areas
•2100MHz (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band

as per the gsmarena spec sheet it will work on Optus @ HSDPA 900 / 2100

  • CPU: MTK6589 Qual core 1.2GHz

How quick does this CPU perform?

    • like samsung galaxy s 2

      • +1

performs about 75% quicker than the S2 for most benchmarks and real life tests. S2 is using a very old dual core with crappy power saving features - hence why everyone complains about the battery after upgrading to ICS and JB.

        • thats exactly right

  • Is this going to be covered by any warranty in Australia?

  • -5

    Lenovo. Me? Bitter?

  • Does anyone know the SIM configuration? Many dual SIM phones are 1x micro + 1x mini and often only one of these is 3G capable.

    • should say on gsmarena.

      • GSMArena only specifies that both SIMs can do 2G, nothing about which SIM/s do 3G.

        • It's usually only 1 sim that does 3G. Very rarely do you get dual sim with 3g on both sims.

This phone takes 2 regular SIM cards, with SIM slot 1 3g @ 2100mhz. Which is a bit strange, because Lenovo phones usually do dual band 900/2100mhz. I think there could be a mistake in the vendor's spec sheet, because GSM arena mentions 900mhz.

Also, this phone can charge other phones via OTG cable, meaning it also doubles as a power pack.

          http://www.bgr.in/news/lenovo-p780-android-smartphone-charge…

And to make the most of it, Lenovo lets users share its battery with other smartphones! The phone comes with a USB OTG cable in the box and one can use it and the phone’s USB charging cable to connect it with other smartphones to charge them.

  • about the same price as a Nexus 4 hmmmm what phone would people prefer?

    • I would pay the extra, and buy a 16GB Nexus 4.

  • i wouldn't put much faith in that "massive 4000mah" battery, the Samsung S4 is a better phone that costs a lot more and that has a 2600mah battery, only way they could shoehorn a 4000mah battery was if the phone was massive in size! despite what's on the label most China phones are around 2000mah give or take a little, the good battery life is because this type of cpu(MTK6589) is based on the low power ARM A7 core

  • I think this phone looks good for $133 but only issue there is no info on the battery:

    http://www.antelife.com/star-q9000-mtk6589-quad-core-smart-p…

Might get one for my mum. What you guys think?

    • google says

      Built in 2500mAh lithium battery

      also

      WCDMA 2100MHz

Means no or bad 3g in regional locations. Other sites list it as 850/2100mhz so it might just be a misprint?

    • I think this phone looks good for $133

I've been keeping an eye on this for awhile, but so many new models are coming out with the faster MTK6589T so haven't taken the plunge just yet…

    • Oh no price went up to $150 now :( no deal now!

  • Price has gone up to $248.30

  • +1

When was this phone $133 :/ I never saw this price as that is why I compared it to the Nexus 4
