Unlike kogan deals there's no reason this shouldn't be honoured. I had a 40" Samsung tv delivered to Aus from amazon uk with no problems.

Not a deal when you can get it locally cheaper/close to the same price as Amazon

    • First, this is only dual-core & 8 GB… is it old?

Kogan can "change their mind" - after taking your money - and you've got to wait for it to be returned… when? You may get a voucher to spend, from the boongongle, but… it's no joy to wait for one's monsy. or to have to find a similar offer without it, while waiting.

And shipping is excessive… show all the max shipping fees for future compaisons.

(eBay vendors often show -true- pricing, ie, incl shipping.
When a vendor sepearates out the shipping, you only get the cost of goods back, eg, if there's a return. more loss (on top of return shipping cost), IMO.)

We're still paying for mobile data when we are in the office, with free WiFi… due to a -fault- in a costly Samsung n8000… we won't buy another Samsung again.

These lower prices may be coming from the lower (in USA) iPhone(s), IMO.

  • does it come with international warranty?

Are these phones any good? How is the screen?

    • I don't think they can be considered phones…more like phablets.

      • +2

I have a big face. Need something more substantial.

      • Since Skype (eg, with 40+ country unlimited subscription) and/or a MyNetFone (or anybody else/s compatible) VoIP client…

-any- recent Android tab that can use 3G mobile I'net data is almost a phablet, too.

It's getting to be a fine line between tab + phone, IMO.

    • Forget the specs bashers. 720p on 6.3" is more than plenty and everything is as crisp as it needs to be for you to be able to read even the smallest of texts. Display is also super bright and very visible in sunlight. It can also be super dim for night time use. Everyone I've shown mine to all are amazed by how good it looks. (Even the pixel peeping friends who own the new Nexus 7 v2)

  • Specs themselves indicate these phones are rubbish. S4 mini, zoom, active and all the derivatives are pretty crap.

    • It's actually VERY good. Battery lasts longer than the Note 2, quality of the display is top notch (way better than ipad mini / nexus 7 v1), loud speaker is one of the loudest I've ever heard and is fast enough for anyone really. It's probably the best phablet for media consumption right now.

The size fits easily into any jeans pocket and is fine even when you sit down with it in the pocket. You can't say that about any of the tablets.

      • Just in regard to speaker volume …. One thing you have to be careful of in buying a Euro sourced phone is that the volume levels (and other specs) are different for regions. I bought a Kogan Galaxy Note 1 and got a real shock to find out that the speaker volume was lower than a local one. I also have the Swiss White Pages App embedded in the phone and it wants to be updated regularly (handy if I ever go to Switzerland). Also my phone will not download MMS messages despite the best several attempts of the phone carrier to get it to work.
But for the money I saved $$$$, I am very very happy!

  • Is this meant to compete with their own Note series?

    • It's not a competitor to the Note.

    • Doesn't have the stylus or the same screen.
The Note series is more than just a big screen. The stylus and screen are the main, albeit "hidden", differentiators.

  • Cheaper from multiple local sellers as linked above.

  • This phone is not using AMOLED technology. Is this good?

Personally I don't like AMOLED screen such as in SGS3, SGS4 and SGN series.

All colours seems bluey and not very clear, sharp, and bright.

HTC, Sony, LG and even Huawei screen, in my opinion, is better than Samsung's AMOLED. Does anyone feel the same?

Back to the topic, which one is better, Samsung Mega or Samsung Galaxy Note II?

    • AMOLED does not mean it has worse colors. Technically, it should be better than LCD in nearly every way. Samsung decided on calibrating the AMOLED for more saturation / pop by default. But you can change it in the setting to something far more accurate and natural looking if desired. Both have good and bad points.

Note 2 vs Mega is a difficult one. In terms of performance, there is hardly anything in it. (I own both) More RAM on the Note 2 is not that noticeable while Mega has a slightly faster CPU. Camera is about identical also. At the end, it's all about the display size difference. Mega has a much bigger display which goes brighter and dimmer at its extremities. Mega wins in terms of wow factor and being a far better mini-tablet replacement than the Note 2. Battery life wise, both are similar. I don't use the stylus much but if you think you will, Note 2 wins here.

I personally prefer the Mega due to the bigger display.
Some will prefer Note 2 for its more compact(!) size.

      • Hi jakiman,

Can you let me know where can I find the setting to recalibrate the oversaturated Samsung screen?

        Cheers

I got Galaxy Notes 8.0 LTE from Bing Lee's sale a while back, very happy.
Mine has been staying at 3.5" for 4 years (iPhone 1, 3GS, 4S).
The sudden growth made me & her very happy.

"The sudden growth made me & her very happy."

      Lol

      • +1

I was about to say the same~~~

And it indeed is a huge difference between 3.5" and 8", for her enjoyment.
