    • +1

nice one, the code make this cheapest deal even better!! :-P

    • +1

Does treatme5 still work for a further $5 off?

      • +1

        it works.

  • Interesting this model didn't show up in my DJ camera post search list.

  • good price! possibly the best price for a flash kit!

    • second that

  • How is it compare with the Sony DSCHX30V $349.30? Is the Sony better with night shot?

    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/electrical/e…

    • +1

not sure about Sony, but I'm really satisfied with night shot result from V1

another great feature of V1, the lens is interchangeable…

    • +1

V1 has a larger sensor, far faster autofocus, and higher speed operation.

  • using 2 vouchers(treatme and welcome) brings down to $299.30.

have to spend 0.70 more for trs. lol.

    • omg i paid $304.30, :(

    • Get the flip top box of jelly belly's for $1.95. Possibly the lowest priced item sold by DJs lol

      • And if I can't resist eating the jelly belly b4 my departure?

        • +1

Keep the box and refill it with any old jelly beans before departure :)

    • what is trs?

      • +1

Tourist Rebate Scheme, where you claim back the tax you paid when you go through customs within 60 days of a min $300 purchase i tihnk.

        • that's correct, im travelling next week.. so can claim that :-)

        • does it work for Australian passport, I am going to travel Nov 5, thanks.

        • Ahhh I see what you did there (;

  • OMG, that's so cheap! I paid $450 2 months ago :(

    • I'm paid $323 for the same kit back in June…

      • That deal was better with the twin lens kit…

  • I've been looking out for one of these for ages, the JB sale last weekend almost caught me but none of the other compacts have the high speed video mode that this one does for this price. It's a great little camera and a great deal. Thanks for posting it Widzz.

    • you're welcome..

yes I've great time playing with 400fps video :-D

  • Guys, any suggestion for additional accessories, since i will be travelling, tot of 'maximising' the TRS :-)

  • how much is the flash worth?

  • Nikon Coolpix P510 16.1 Megapixel Digital Camera $289.50 seems also good value but not a compact camera.

  • +1

want to get the white one. but the flash is still gonna be black..

    dont see it matching..

    • Nikon makes white flash and white lens.

      • I never see white SB-N5..
you can get white SB-N7 but while has more power it's missing the swivel capability

    • Can anyone confirm DJ's will provide a white external flash when a white camera body is purchased?

      • +1

Nikon does not make the SB-N5 in white. Black only.

  • Anyone willing to sell me their flash if they don't want or need it?
Great camera for the money BTW!

  • Borag thung, Earthlets!

A waterproof and shockproof Nikon 1 camera will be available soon (currently with pre-order at Amazon, BH.)

    Thom's introduction:
    http://www.sansmirror.com/newsviews/nikon-1-takes-on-water.h…

  • Which one is better, so many on special.

    Nikon V1 with flash
    Canon PowerShot G15
Panasonic GF3 Black Twin Lens Kit
Sony NEXF3 SLK Camera with SEL 1855 Lens

    Any suggestion?

    • Go V1. $300 is bargain

    • +1

If you NEVER want to deal with changing lenses etc, then the G15 is ok, but won't take as good quality photos as any of the others.

The Nikon V1 will be best if doing lots of fast day time sports.
The NEXF3 would have best image quality of these if not worried about the speedy auto focus.
The GF3 probably has image quality between the The Sony and the Nikon, and probably not a good deal as the others. But does have lots more lenses and accessories available than the others.

      Summary:
Best image quality with included lenses: Sony NEX
Best auto focus for fast moving objects: Nikon
Smallest overall package (but at a cost in image quality): Canon

If you were just going to get one and no ectra lenses, I would personal probably choose the Sony.

      • Thanks for the suggestion, it is very hard to select for me.

I don't think I will buy another len for the Nikon unless found good special.

I read the post from previous Sony F3 deal the low night shots look very good.

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104844

So now Sony $380 compare with Nikon $300 …. hmm. ….

        • I think the choice is quite straight forward, if you need fast AF, get the V1, if not, get the NEX.

      • +1

The reason I'll go for V1 is the build-in EVF.
very useful in bright outdoor. And also feels more like a DSLR

  • Thanks OP got one from the city store for the 299… cant wait to try it out…
just messaging to say thanks for posting.

    • +1

your are more than welcome :-)

enjoy the new camera, I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it ;-)

  • Just picked up my Nikon V1 , easily swap from white body to black body no hassle in David Jones Southland.

White Body and black flashlight not really my taste :) Just my 2cents opinion.

    Thanks OP, great post!!!

  • hello, does the website specifically say the flash is included?

    Thanks

    • Yes. You can see the flash is charge for $0.00 and quantity 1.

      • I ordered it today afternoon it didn't show flash for 0.00. I just picked it up they didn't put the flash in the bag.

After talk and talk finally got the flash and a receipt zero dollar for the flash.

  • Just picked it up :) Now to see if theres anything wrong with it

  • If anybody going to order from now on have to be careful because after you added it to cart it didn't show the flashlight at 0.00 anymore but the photo still should with flashlight.

So make sure you print the order after payment immediately(not the one in the email) because it will have the photo with flashlight on it.

Because I found that the invoice DJ generated for the staff to pack only have the camera on it. You will have to tell them when you placed the order it comes with flashlight.

    • Your order or invoice would have the "flash unit" in it as 0.00. Make sure that it has it

      • Mine didn't have flash unit 0.00 on it.

When I tried it yesterday it will automatically add it for me. But when I finally decided to go ahead today it didn't.

You can try it now to see.

  • If you want to buy the camera and lens without flash, PM me.

  • Can someone please post a copy of the flash invoice for 0.00? Thanks

    • You don't need it just print your online order confirmation page. Show them the photo of the camera with flashlight.

  • The black one can't be purchased online anymore.. If i buy the white one (the picture does not come with a flash) will they still give me a flash? :(

    EDIT

Just realised you can pick it up in store.. Can anyone confirm if DJs on Bourke will give out flash kits?

    • As I mentioned what I did I ordered it online and print the order confirmation which show with flash light and went to pick up. They will give you the flash light otherwise talk with the manager.

Or if you don't mind miss out the $15 promo code just go in show them the online pic and ask them.

  • Keen to pick up a flash if anyone is only after the camera! PM me!

  • +1

Just picked one up from Sydney CBD store and the guy did it for the online price with codes at $299. Also includes the flash.

    • Good to know, thanks. I'll try it in Brisbane

      • Hey there! Any luck getting the camera with the flash in Brisbane?

I tried calling Queens Plaza DJ, but they said they wouldn't honour it unless I could prove it, the picture on the website wasn't enough for the guy on the phone.

        • Ohh, I was going to go to that store now …. I guess I won't

        • I might try anyway. It's still a decent bargain without the flash.

        • Jum…ok, I guess I'll try… I'll let you know

        • Let me know if you need the zero amount receipt for the flash.

          I can post later today.

        • That would be wicked awesome!

        • OK here you are the zero amount flash unit.

          http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/14295/18470/scan.jpg

        • Thanks mate, I didn't check the forum again until now. I went to Queen Street store and they sell it with the flash. $314.30.
They have it in black, but the manager didn't apply the code to get down to $299.30
          Anyway, it's a bargain

        • Wicked, I went to the Queens Plaza store and got it with the flash as well.

Although, I checked the flash when I got home and they sold me an empty box. I don't think that's standard practice though :P

        • The box is so light even with the flash, the story tell us have to check carefully when buy anything with DJ.

        • +2

I guess that's why two flashes were in my box

  • hi guys

i am tossing between this camera and

    Sony SLTA37Y Twin Lens Kit 18-55MM & 55-200M DSLR

    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/electrical/e…

    can some one suggest ?

    • DSLR and compact camera is completely difference kind of camera. You should ask yourself what are you looking for first.

BTW are you sure you can still get the SLTA37Y I searched a few stores near my area none of them have stock.

      • thanks

I no nothing about cameras . My comparison is as follows

        nikon

        cheaper
        smaller
lots of people seems to like it here

        Sony
        Value for money better discount
DSLR seems pretty professional sort of camera
for $150 i am getting extra lense and possibly a better camera (from reviews)

i was able to find one SLTA37Y and put it on hold

        • +1

The Nikon can also do very good picture just with the auto function. If you like you can still switch to the manual mode. A lot smaller to carry.

Sony DSLR good if you have plan to learn in long run not point and shoot type of camera. A lot bigger to carry.

        • go the sonySLTA37Y twin kit yesterday for $434

          thanks for you input :)

BTW if you are in NSW try calling david jones burwood or warangal . Both the stores have one display model in stock.

          regards

  • Why said expired? I applied WELCOME and TREATME5 still work. The question is only whether they will honour with flash or not.

Also still have a lot of stock.

    • Yep! The guy that sold to me at the Sydney CBD store said that the sale price will stay until all stock are gone. They ordered too many and it failed to sell.

  • 2pm Today - David Jones Sydney CBD (Men's side)
Matched online deal + free flash $299.30
At first they weren't going to, wife had to go down to the click & collect section. They said have to wait 1 day to pick up if ordered online. Went back upstairs spoke with salesperson, he wanted to check with manager. Manager too busy, just gave it to me for the online price :) 5mins of stuffing around. So glad we decided today! Brilliant camera.

  • Wasn't able to use the site to click & collect due (site reported an error). Went in person, and they still had the camera deal.

    • DJ took out all electrical from their site and V1 no longer there but I still saw a lot at Chatswood and Warringah Mall.

  • I think I got pretty lucky. When this sale was on the website suggested products similar and it suggested the $0 flash. I grabbed two and an $11 tripod thingy. Amazingly the order was waiting for me at pick up.
I felt it was a mistake on the website rather than a bargain that could be posted here. I think that website issue may be why the free flash was removed from the sale quickly.

    • would you be willing to sell me one of the flashes? please pm me!
