Petrol prices are going back up.

    • +1

Dunno about rest of Australia, but Melbourne is due to go up this week, this is the 2nd week of the price cycle, so maybe up by 20c by Thursday or Friday

      • +2

Wot a surprise, the price jumped today as the 8c became available. Almost as if it were planned….

    • +1

Vouchers are also valid for LPG, and my local Woolworths and Shell stations have the same (within 1c) price for LPG as Mobil/Liberty/BP. The fuel vouchers are subsidised by the profit margin on groceries, not on petrol.

    • even with the voucher drought lately the prices in my part of Sydney still have not been any better, still the same silly 10-12 day cycle….if anything they didnt seem to drop below 1.40

  • Prices are down is WA, so I suggest doing your shopping tomorrow and getting the 8c, and check http://www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au/fuelwatch/pages/home.jspx to see if it will decrease again the day after.

  • i havnt seen any material yet but im sure woolworths will copy this by tommoro

    • I saw an ad tonight for a 15c promo starting from tomorrow.

      • Coles? What city?

        • Woolies I meant, TV ad in Vic.

        • Just checked woolies website, no mention of it yet.

        • You'll have to trust me for now then :)

  • +1

    15c will probably require a $100 spend.

  • +5

The Accc is gonna love this.

  • -1

Waiting to the day it goes to save 69c

    Dream..

  • +1

Although myself I purchase from coles occasionally, besides these vouchers and flybuys points, why don't you purchase petral from 3rd party's, like united or whatever they're called. It's way cheaper, I only go to coles express when I spend couple hundred which gives me 40c off a litre.

    • +2

Way cheaper? They are all pretty much the same shit. Well here in Melbourne Metro anyway

    • -2

plus everybody knows that the independents water their shit down with toluene

  • -1

    Not worth it.

I went to BP last week, no voucher nothing.
I bought something in the store, I got 8c off per litre.
Then the bonus, they gave me 2 chocolate bars (of my choosing because I put did a "full tank").

Go BP. Don't support this rubbish Woolworths/Coles bullshit.
In the end it will hurt us all.

    • Although I agree with your last statement, is this an advertised widely available BP offer?

    • Really?

What do you need to buy to get 8 c off at BP? Is there a minimum spend? Can't find it via Google.

      Cheers.

      • I can confirm that whilst driving to Bright last weekend (Northeast country Victoria) We pulled into a BP for Gas at 84.9c per litre , and I didnt make any purchase at all and when looking at the receipt they added a 2c per litre discount. Didnt see any signage about it, nor do I know why they did that.

        • BP Gas have a card membership that you can take up and it gives you 2c off gas everytime.
The card is free to make and no in-store purchase is required to avail the discount. Its pretty much show your card to cashier and you get 2c off. The cashier on the day must be feeling generous and they gave you the discount without the card !

      • -1

Yes, I also googled it but couldnt find it.
Thats whats strange. Maybe Im the first who posted this!!!! More plusses please.
(Why people neg me for this I got no idea)

So, for the questions that people have asked me.
        1. I purchased in store a spinach/cheese roll (because I was hungry)
        2. I filled up it took 74 litres.
        3. They gave me a choice of 2 chocolate bars, I took a picnic and a twirl.

        For you ozbargain skeptics ——

        So, 74 litres * 8c = $5.92
        Chocolate bars (coles price $2) = $2.00
        Twirl (assume $2) = $2.00 ——-
        Total saving $9.92

Coles price saving on 74 litres = $5.92
        Coles (extra 2c) price compare to BP x 74 = -$1.48
        Coles grocery surcharge on $30?) = ? ——-
        Total Saving $4.44

So, why was I negged, BP saves you ***** $5.48 #*****

  • +1

Yes it is cheaper, coles attact a 10c 15cent higher rate than smaller companies, even after the 4-8c it's still costing to much, on less like I stated the 40c a letter is a bargain from coles, it's easily achieved.

    • +1

Coles being 10-15c higher than "smaller companies" is simply not true based on my observations.

    • Somehow the opposite here. In my local area, most of the time Coles Express/Shell and Woolworths/Caltex are same price or cheaper than individual brands. This is really strange :(

      • I find coles/woolies are always exactly the same 7-11 may be within 1c of them on either side, and BP 2-4c more expensive in my suburb.

    • +1

I can confirm this is true for the Coles petrol station next to Northland VIC.

The unleaded 91 petrol from united/7-11 etc near it will cost from 2 to 10+ cents LESS than the price offered by the Coles station even AFTER factoring in 4-8c discount. ie. it was 12c more then united when I went to fill up today.

This isn't true for all because I know a Coles petrol station in the city that has always been the lowest in the area every time I drive past it but it's simply too far from my house.

    • I don't think Coles directly offer 40c off. Isn't it fly buys offer generally. I have never seen 40c off before. Do you have any link or info on how I can get that. Happy to spend $200+ as we get groceries etc. thanks.

  • +1

I am finding that United is cheaper in my area ( rural nsw) by at least 4c so by going to United I don't need to fuss with vouchers.

    • United has surcharges If you pay by fuel cards or credit cards.

  • +2

good deal if ppl are smart in how the $30 is spent in coles
never seems to work out for me

    • I will usually check what is on sale or 1/2 price and stock up those stuffs to hit $30 for the dockets.

  • for everyone? no need activiate?

  • It makes no difference if its a cheap petrol day or a pricey one, your discount is the same.
50 litres at 10c discount is $5 off. Doesn't matter if the 10c/L discount is off $1.30/L or $1.60L.
I also like United not Coles/Caltex/Shell/Woolies, because they have standard 91RON Unleaded with no ethanol in it, usually the same price as the Majors charge for e10.

  • Make sure you check your emails regularly. Woolworths recently sent me a "spend $200 and save 30 cents a litre" offer to my email address.

I also got a $140 for 16 cents off from coles last week.

  • Slightly off topic on the 8c fuel vouchers, but is it just me or the more you spend at Coles/Woolies, the less discount you are offered on fuel? Compared offers with a colleague the other day - he's getting way better offers for someone who doesn't shop regularly at one of these stores..

    • -1

It makes sense for them to do it that way. Why would they offer you good deals when you are already shopping there every week anyway?

      • +1

I thought the whole idea was to reward regular shoppers - guess I should be switching stores regularly.

  • Rather epic one would be spend $1000 and get $1 off per litre? If that ever were to happen, coles must be getting real desperate for customers.

  • +1

Who cares about these pissy little discounts. What? You save $5 on your fuel? How much more would you save if you shopped at ALDI and local markets? I won't give my hard earned to Coles unless I'm desperate for something they have that no one else does. The system in this country sucks. 2 BIG supermarkets pumping up our fuel price. Would it happen anywhere but Australia?

  • 40c off a litre for me is actually a large sum, comes out to be $28 my whole tank takes $90 to fill.

    • +1

That's a lot of gas! On my bike it costs $20 to fill and gets me 400+ KM.

  • +2

surprise surprise, on the day coles offers 8c and woolies 15c per litre, the price jumped today from 140.9 to 156.9 ABSOLUTE BASTARDS

    • 156.9 is what its been in Bundaberg for ages.

  • +5

Didn't have to spend anything at Coles today…got an 8 cent coupon for nix.

    Thanks.

found a docket in a trolley outside haha

  • When these petrol deals are on I split my shopping…so if I have $60 worth I put it through in 2 transactions….

  • +2

and pay with your ING paywave so your fuel has an additional 7 cents off per litre.

  • -1

Well with the impending removal of dockets, i would be getting in and using them up. Once they are removed the cost of fuel wont be lowered at all, they already know what they can charge already.

  • Offer extended to 30th Nov 2013 now.
    http://www.coles.com.au/campaign-pages/fuel-discount

    • bet its extended thru to xmas

      • I was tipping they would extend it past october 31. I think you will be correct about the Christmas extention as well.
