Yatango Mobile - No Contract, Sim Only Plans

Hi Ozbargainers!

Has anyone had any experiences with them and can comment on their service and what plans they offer?
Also which provider do they operate on?

I think this thread will also be of benefit to those looking for an extensive mobile plan.
Cheers

  • you can customize your plan, but, beaware, the network speed not very well in WA(Perth, Mirrabooka, Kalbarri, Busselton, Albany) pretty slow, compare with amaysim, I would go for Amaysim.

and it runs on Optus network same as Amaysim.

  • Kenbro - pretty much all you need to know is in this thread: www.ozbargain.com.au/node/105640

At any given point in time, if on the same APN (limited choice for Optus reseller users), speeds and service are identical to Amaysim. Amaysim, however, do have a call center, and live chat if you need help. Yatango support is via email.

Just to reiterate and emphasise the point I made in the last comment in the above thread: You really do need to do your sums carefully before each new month clicks over, if you are to maximize any savings. You also don't want to underestimate your usage, at which point you will click over to PAYG rates for the remainder of that month.
Just in an overall sense - cost-wise - if, like me, you receive far more calls and texts on mobile than you make, but use a lot of data, Yatango can work out well.
If you make lots of calls/send texts AND also use alot of data - then not so much…

  • Looking at their prices I'm not too excited. On Vaya I'm on the $18 plan which gives me unlimited SMS, about 400 or so minutes (give or take as it's funny money value not minutes directly) and 1.5GB. The equivilant here is $38.

    • Yep, when your considering Yatango relative to Vaya, or relative to certain other plans/deals out there at present, it all depends on the balance of data required, relative to call minutes/texts needed.

As long as you keep in mind that the Woolworths Mobile deal only offers handful of minutes of calls a day relative to the 45 day expiry period - and may see you recharge early as a result - if you use a significant amount of data (5GB on offer), that should really be considered first for most people, ahead of Yatango.

  • I reckon the woolies mobile $29 plan, 10% off everyday rewards & 5% off wishcards/ING Cashback is better, around $16.50/mth 5gb data, plus lots of funny money
