Does it require CC details to activate the SIM?

    • +2

      Yes

Why do you need my Credit Card details?

Well this is a requirement of ours as a form of ID. Not to worry though, all information will be stored safely. It may be important to note that to make international calls or SMS you will need to top-up your account as they are not included in your free months’ usage.

      • +6

Thanks OP - good find for anybody who wants to try them out
        However I will pass…

        • +2

CC detail required, ill will pass too

      • +1

        I will pass too…

I would supply my id rather than cc. Also, will you make some small amount test-charge on cc to validate cc? I know paypal does… I trust paypal anyway…

  • +3

    really really really lame adverts

Wow! That whole two fingered salute thing is just bad..

    • +2

Wow that is easily one of the most pissweak ads I have seen in years.
That "girl" is a tranny, right?
      Anyway just appalling.

I think it's the same dude, just dressed up many different ways.

        • Yeah I think you're right.
          Pweeewh thats kinda a relief/

      • I assume its really cheap to advertise on foxtel so people go for the cheapest ad production company they can find.

  • Call me a cynic but…
"all information will be stored safely".
Not sure that rules out information being passed on to third parties, or accessed again by the recipient of said info at a later date.
All my friends accuse me of being a cheapo when it comes to mobile phone deals. They are right. I am. But in this case, this does not look like something I want to be involved with.

    • If you're not sure wait a week or two, people who took up the previous deal will be back to complain if there is any problems. That deal was posted 09/05, since Yatango is advertising a bit and has registered onemonthfree.com.au I think this offer will be around for a while.

    • facebook is involved. how can all information be stored safely?

  • -1

    It's not free!!

they charge you $10 for the SIM card and .20c for cc processing fee. The only tell you that when you are about to confirm your details.

    • +1

It says free sim everywhere, the previous deal was $10 sim.

      • +3

Well I can tell you it's not, I just went to sign up and got all the way to confirm and they charge $10 for the sim.

        • +2

they charge $10 for sim and then apply -$10 discount for free sim.

          = FREE!

        • +10

Whoa whoa slow down math boy :)

        • Ok I retract my comment, they must of had a problem with the site when I went on as it was charging $10 for the sim, it is not charging for the sim now.

        • +1

Hi @workwear - this offer is FREE, as per the advert only at www.onemonthfree.com.au - the $10 does not apply. Thanks, Team Yatango :)

        • +2

If it's free then why does it reject my order & it claims I have Insufficient Funds?
I'm using a debit card with under $1 credit on it.

        • Pre-Auth to see if the credit card is valid, it will drop off after a few days.

        • +1

It charged me $1, not sure if it gonna refund back to me.

        • It's a pre-auth, how hard is it to understand its to stop fraud ?

        • Good call. Although, I hate to be a spelling nazi, but don't you think we should be saying "maths" in Australia? Americans say "math" but we traditionally say "maths". I just resist the shift towards Americanisation of Australian language. I tend to correct people who say or type "ass" also.

        • I have a degree in Mathematics - so prefer the term Mathematics (neither Maths nor Math - nor their lower case and inferior abbreviated cousins.) LOL, its so gauche to abbreviate ;-)

Its just a preference & in the Engish language. That usage changes with time, people, and location…
Math and maths are equally acceptable abbreviations of mathematics. The only difference is that math is preferred in the U.S. and Canada, and maths is preferred in the U.K., Australia, and most other English-speaking areas of the world.
Neither abbreviation is correct or incorrect. You may hear arguments for one being superior to the other, and there are logical cases for both sides. One could argue maths is better because mathematics ends in s, and one could argue math is better because mathematics is just a mass noun that happens to end in s. In any case, English usage is rarely guided by logic, and these usage idiosyncrasies are often arbitrary. If you were raised in a part of the world where people say maths, then maths is correct for you, and the same is of course true of math. Don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise.

But rhino015, what will I now call my pet ass? Equus africanus asinus is far too formal for a farm animal.

        • +1

Yeah I took some license for the joke, since "maths boy" didn't roll off the tongue as easily as "math boy" to me.

If we were really strict with such things, "Superfineman" would've been the worst super(fine?)hero ever: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=super

And probably more interested in Jimmy Olsen than Lois Lane…

        • Well just call me Mathematics Man ;) No please don't.

  • that dude is giving us the forks! well fork you too

  • +1

    CC details required! Sorry…too risky!

    • +4

Its funny that no one on the previous deal seemed to mind giving there CC details when paying $10 for the same thing. But when its free everyone shys away :)

  • +3

    • I'm pretty sure the $10 still applies thing is talking about the previous deal I linked in the original thread. If you look at the webpage or can make it through that advert you will see it clearly says free sim.

      • I was highlighting the automatic charging of your cc after 30 days (going by their rates, $55?).

        • +1

Hi Bargain4U - we won't automatically charge your CC after 30 days unless you top-up your account or choose to add new Packs once your trial expires. The TV Trial Packs will expire after the 30 days. Thanks, Team Yatango :)

    • +1

Hi @Bargain4U - that above quote applies to our standard 30 Day Trial. This offer mentioned above is our latest TV Offer and only available at: www.onemonthfree.com.au.

      • Could you clarify what you mean by "Yatango will not deduct any payments from your credit card without your consent"? By joining to the free trial we're not giving consent?

EDIT: Answered above, 15 secs earlier.

        • Hi there. We can assure you that nothing will be charged to your card unless you give confirmation of a payment first - e.g. if you wanted to add credit to your account to make International Calls or send an International SMS. Thanks.

        • So how do I cancel the sim after the first month?

        • There is no automatic renewal! If you decide you don't want to continue with Yatango after 30 days, simply remove your SIM and on you go. No hard feelings :)

        • I doubt it. Last thing I want is to have a default listed against my name because there is a bill that I am not aware of

  • Hmmm, seems that Yatango doesn't actually save me any money.

My Woolworths mobile is still looking pretty good.

  • -1

I have been charged by $1, it's not free!!!

  • +1

Woolworths is pretty good deal. The only way this saves you money is by using it for a month for free then go back to your other provider once your free trial is up… But I think that's what many people do it seems, they keep exploiting these deals, and who can blame them? :)

  • 4g data?

    • Negative

  • I can't get past the second stage of signing up "Customise Your Plan". When I click "Next-Choose Your Number" it redirects me to https://www.yatangomobile.com.au/ Please help rep

    • Hi @Porleng, apologies for this - we're just having some slight technical difficulties due to being inundated with people signing up to Yatango. Bare with us, we will be back online soon :)

      • It's working now!

        • +1

Awesome thanks Porleng. Please contact our Support team if you have any further issues :)

        • One more question, how long for delivery to Sydney?

        • Hi Porleng. Your SIM will leave our warehouse tomorrow and you should receive this on Thursday :)

  • now it comes up with -30 when i choose prepaid with the offer, but still have the condition of $10 for the sim. Am i going to get charged?

    • Hi Huntress_love, apologies about this error. Did you sign-up to our www.onemonthfree.com.au offer? We are just investigating this now - please try again. There should be no $10 SIM charge on this. Thanks, Team Yatango :)

      • +1

it finally worked but got charged $1 twice. does it get refunded rep?

        • Hi Huntress, this is just a credit card verification holding that will be applied back onto your card. It does not actually remove the money into our account :) Glad it finally worked. Team Yatango.

  • +1

Well well well- what have we here?

  • Could I access voicemail via a Yatango email address?

  • Hi DxxP, No sorry we don't offer that service. Thanks, Yatango

  • Is Yatango using Optus or Telstra network?

    • +1

      Optus

  • I cannot find any mention anywhere so I have to ask the question. So there is no flagfall whatsoever with this, right?

    • +1

Hi Leon, correct, there is No Flagfall with Yatango :)

    • Great

  • +1

Trying it - have visitors for a month and this will be a great way for them to have mobile access!

  • My friend is moving to Australia in August. Do you expect the deal to still be running then?

  • anyone get the sim card? anyone get the $1 back? I haven't got both of them yet.

    • Nothing here still waiting

    • just the emails to remind me to activate a SIM that hasn't arrived.

    • +1

      SIM arrived today in Brissie.

  • I got sim, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who kept getting those annoying emails, I thought it got lost in mail or something.

  • Huge thanks to OP daveaus…got my sim today and activated no probs…perfect timing for some much needed mobile data for the tablet this weekend :D

  • Hi I have the yatango sim and for the main, I like it, but the internet speed is so slow sometimes I cant even access the web,i did have a boost mobile sim before this and it was fast, more expensive but at least I could browse the web anytime I wanted, just wondering is anybody having the same problems???

    • +2

Speeds via the Optus 'Open Network' are about 25 or 30% slower than the main Optus network in my experience (even moreso if like on the Yatango you are prevented from using one of Optus' less congested APN's). That can mean really, really slow at times and in some places.

In one device I'm using the remaining bit of data on an Amaysim plan before I let it slide completely, and have activated the Yatango and am using it in another. Speeds are identical.
For me that means a Youtube video will play from start to finish sometimes, but only at the lowest possible resolution and only if it's short.

If you're having lots of issues at a given point with normal page downloads, just switching between APN's in your settings (the ones you can switch between) may do the trick.

  • I haven't gone through yet but wish to, just wondering how exactly do I make sure I don't get charged for the next 30 days after the trial finishes? Preferably ahead of time? Cheers

    • +2

I was concerned too, but it's all legit and you won't be charged after the 30 days. Yatango have added a dollar of extra 'on the go' type credit to the account which will - if not eaten into, or if you add to it, will keep the sim rolling/active for three months. After you activate, you'll see the 'tailor your plan' page, and everything will become clear.

The way Yatango works, it's all about adding funds for the balance of data and/or call minutes you want for the NEXT month. It's very cleverly setup and should work well, but you need to do the stuff in advance to save and make it work properly for you. Their web interface is impressive.

For me, the only advantage Amaysim has is the phone support, but all the time I've spent on the phone with them has related to their website dysfunction and the inability at times (despite the promise) of adding data packs / changing plans seamlessly.

Hopefully Yatango will be better, but (and not just because of Amaysim) I've learned my lessons… For reasons of reception and data access continuity/overlap always have with you more than one active sim - from different providers, on different networks.

      • Thanks for the great info. Just to clarify, does this mean you can't go over the allocated trial amount for calls/texts/data etc, so when you've used it all you're not charged for additional stuff at outrageous prices? Is it easy to check how much usage you've gone through? :-)

        • +1

No you can't go over. When you get close to the end of the 30 days, if you want to continue the service you pick a balance of data and call options and activate that for the following 30 days. Money comes off the card you sign up with or you can change easily to another. Other alternative is to add funds to the (already applied) $1 PAYG credit balance.
PAYG rate for the data component is 5c per MB, which is the same as Amaysim, I think. Ok only if you use very, very little data. Normal plan data options are very flexible and are much better than Amaysim. Money to be saved over time if you tailor your plan to your usage pattern carefully.

Display of data and call minutes used is tremendous, and very unlike my experience with both prepaid Redbull mobile and Amaysim, very close to real-time.

        • Great - thank you for the in depth answers, much appreciated. Definitely looking forward to giving this a go now! Being a 24 month cap and free phone sort of person this already looks like a much better alternative

  • When I get to the signup page where I can either port my existing number or choose a new number, it says:

    Your Plan Summary

    John's Mobile | Prepay
    John

    1000 Voice $20
    1000 SMS $15
    3000Mb Data $20
    PAYG Credit $1
    30 Day Trial Promo ($56)

Does this mean I am getting charged $56?

  • +1

No, you're fine - just keep going.
This offer is separate to that. You won't be charged.

  • I find the internet is slower than my woolworths sim? Not that I'm complaining or anything, since its free month, but I just thought they are both optus it should be the same. So is there a difference between optus resellers and outright optus?

    • +1

Yes - mentioned above in one of my long-winded comments.
As I understand it, from sign-up onwards, Optus manages the whole mobile shebang for Woolworths. That may well mean that the service runs on the main network, with faster speeds as a result. Something to balance up.
Also, factoring in the 45 day recharge expiry period with Woolies, you may need to do your call and data sums pretty keenly to save a significant amount of money if you stay on Yatango. It'll depend very much on your individual usage pattern.
