  • .. or can get a 640lm one for $20 (inc 18650 battery and charger) that comprehensively outperforms this one:

    • true!
also, you can get +900lumen riding lights (claimed) from dealextreme, at a fraction of the cost of ay-ups, but if you prefer a compact light set with excellent worksmanship, prepare to pay for that markup :/

here's a perfectly good example of why this 'deal' is not a deal.
    http://www.wiggle.com.au/pdw-spaceship-front-and-red-planet-…

it doesn't have a high lumen output, the battery life blows, but puts the price at $90? pssht.

Disagree. Anyone who knows anything about lights knows claimed lumen output is a load of $rap.

Exposure is a well known reputable brand and as the op has stated this is the best Aussie price going by far for the stated product = Bargain.

okay i'll revoke my neg, given that if you DID want this light, it's a discount. it was a bit harsh.

that said i don't think this is a very good light. yeah okay, lumens aren't everything. but neither is brand. i've had more experience with headlamps, having done more hiking than cycling, but i've had plenty of lights from brands such as black diamond which have sucked compared to cheap generic brands. lumens, while not everything do account for something. But what's more worrying is the sucky battery life of these. While i said i hike more, i do cycle (increasingly so), and having a burn time of anywhere between 3hrs and 22hrs is pretty hopeless… especially given that lights tend to lose some luminosity on the pointy end of their burn time.

so yeah, it's a deal. a deal for a lame product. might as well be selling beats.

          Nice explanation.

Yeah I agree, it seems some of the no name Chinese manufacturers are coming out with some really good gear, well made and more light for your dollar. The days of the old big names controlling the premium LED market are over!

I only saw the lumen spec for the rear light which stated '40 lumens'. If that claim is legit thats pretty bloody bright for a tail light! If it burns for 10-15 hours (mid setting) that probably isn't terrible and would get most people through a week or two of commuting before recharging?

I guess being a riding commuter I do appreciate that quality lights do have good durable fittings, are easy to clip on and off, are weather proof and there can be more to it than just specs. Battery life is a good one to note though :)
