  • Looks like that's the 3G one, 4G is $20 more.

    Carrier unlocked perhaps.

What about region locking on the overseas models of new SAMSUNG phones?

Isn't it just the Note 3?

      • Isn't it just the Note 3?

Well this thread is about the Note 3 models, so I did not think that I had to specify which models.

However, there has been talk about all recent models being region locked.

    Not another price error? :)

  • 16GB LTE Black/White - $849

That is $873 delivered to Sydney.

Harvey Norman has it priced at $888 (same model?) with a local warranty that would be for up to 2 (or even 3?) years.

Not a bargain if the above is correct.

    EDIT
Confirmed as the 9005 LTE Model
AND with 32GB (double the GB of this 16GB one)

Wait a month it will be down to $600

      What will be?

      The AU market model?

Or the phones from Hong Kong, and various European markets, that Kogan HK sell into Australia?

As I said before, grey imports should be at least 10% less than local stock since no gst. Even then local stock could work out cheaper and offer better value.

Must be even more than a 10% difference because of the loss of local warranty, and out of warranty support.

I would say that it depends on the price (range) of the phone, but that 20% would be a better starting point on a $500+ phone.

On a phone costing $800 to $1000 (and/or having a replacement value of this range) - like Note 3 and iP5S (32GB-64GB) - I would not take the risk for less than a 30% saving.

      • I completely agree it has to be significantly more saving than 10% to be considered a bargain.

The Harvey Norman model comes with 32gb, So for $15 you get not only aust warranty, an aust delivered phone, but also an extra 16gb storage.

Actually 2 to 3 times the warranty period, for the AU model.

I know that the HN site states:
      "Manufacturers Express Warranty (months) 12"

But, SAMSUNG says two years, and Fair Trading suggests one might be able to stretch it to 3?
