It's not an "3.5mm Audio Jack" but a "3.5mm Headphone Jack" and there's a big difference.

    • What is the difference? Curious to know

        nothing

      • I believe AlexF means something like "Audio" defines for any audio input/output, whereas "headphone" means for earphone etc only. IDK, but shouldn't matter in most cases, and therefore don't see the point of the comment

A point to consider for audio enthusiasts. Seeing as there is a 3.5mm jack, i think the audio goes via the internal amp of the idevice. attaching a 30pin line out dock to this would not produce a true line level unamped signal. To do that, you would need to attach a lightning to 30pin adapter that has a DAC ie the official apple one, then attach the the line out dock.

dont suggest using 3rd party adaptors as they can ruin the iphone.

Should also note that with iOS 7, many third party adapters which do not an authentication chip will no longer work.

I have a few of these cheap adaptors and cables and some work and some do not since iOS 7.

    • Hi, thanks for remind me.
It can work with iOS 7.

    • Oh please, I don't know why this thing about this party adapters keeps coming up. using cheap oil can mess up your car, doesn't generally do it though. I've sold thousands of these and other third party products, you know how many broken phones? 0. Literally thousands of them. Cheaper products might break faster, that's another conversation altogether but break something? It might happen but it's exceedingly unlikely. It's like printers and ink. Some statistically negligible cases where the statement is true but nothing to back up it as an actual danger. Again, I've run at least 30 litres of $40 a litre ink through my printer, how many heads broken or other damage? Again, none.

      • Because otherwise no one is going to buy $400 a litre OEM inks.

        • That's my point, printer ink is more expensive than gold, by weight. Our it used to be anyway. The only thing about this party accessories that can be said is that, depending on the cost, they might just be of lower quality and not last as long. That's it.

      • I thought that too, until my cheap charger blew up. Cheap cables, for sure. But never getting a cheap charger again.

  • Only works for one, if you are thinking of buying more!

  • Does it work on ipod 5?

  • I added the coupon and saw the new price but when confirming payment it reverted back to full price? On an ipad using ios7 and paid via paypal if it makes any difference. Can my order be amended? My email address ends in ronr.com.au
